    A Senior Lab Technician will conduct quantitative analytical chemistry testing of environmental air and water samples in accordance with standard EPA/ASTM methods and in compliance with ISO/IEC 17025:2017 requirements. Examines test samples and reads measuring instruments, and operational instructions. Evaluates test performance, provides feedback regarding issues and/or problems with test and data sheets and reviews test data with supervisor as appropriate. Operates with minimal supervision within defined limits of responsibility. Directs, builds and/or adapts setup and test equipment to new situations Trains staff in test setups and test methods. Initiates recommendations for new instrument designs and recommends solutions to observed test problems. Operates designated instruments and special laboratory equipment. Performs routine maintenance of designated test equipment and laboratory area. Receives instructions from and reports data to other laboratory personnel. Communicates with the appropriate department personnel to offer suggestions pertinent to equipment needs. Records observed or calculated data on appropriate UL forms and prepare data sheets and test reports. Plans tests, evaluates test results and reports opinions and interpretations. May assist to modify existing methods or develop and validate new test methods. Provides training and assist others in the laboratory. Reads and understands test standards and testing technology for specific tests. Integrates continuous improvement concepts and techniques into all aspects of the job. Read and follow the Underwriters Laboratories Code of Conduct and follow all physical and digital security practices. Performs other duties as directed.     The Tech-Med Lab assists the Clinical Laboratory Scientist by performing routine specimen processing and analysis under direct supervision. The Technician may perform routine automated analysis, instrument checks, calibration, maintenance and quality control; under the direct supervision of a Licensed Clinical Laboratory Scientist on duty. Duties of Technicians also involve clerical functions such as answering telephone inquires and communicating with outside clients as well as reference laboratories utilized by the hospital. Essential Duties: Report directly to the CLS on duty. Performs daily checks and maintenance. Performs a variety of manual, semi-automated and automated Biochemical, Hematological, Microbiological and/or Blood Bank analysis on varied patient specimens, maintaining a high degree of accuracy and productivity. Recognizes normal, abnormal and critical results and taking appropriate action as required, including appropriate considerations for the age of the patient. Demonstrates proficiency in clerical and computer functions, for communicating results and for carrying out additional clinical and clerical duties to meet the needs of the Department. Assures results are available within defined TAT guidelines Communicates and interacts effectively with co-workers, guests of the Institution and hospital clinical staff. Participates in the Department's Quality Assurance Program and continuing education sessions.
