Job Summary: Performs Ultrasounds of internal organs for the diagnosis of disease and study of the malfunction of organs. Performs fetal Ultrasounds per Radiology protocols. Discusses test results with supervisor or attending physician. Performs all quality control checks, as prescribed. Maintains accurate QC logs, service records, etc. Maintains records of ultrasound images taken, archiving and de-archiving data as required; calculates, compiles and records data from numerical readings on patient's medical record and related documents. Understands and practices proper use of all equipment; never operates equipment inconsistent with manufacturer's instruction. Calibrates, cleans and performs routine maintenance on equipment to ensure proper functioning; cleans and sterilizes instruments, supplies and equipment; stocks and replenish supplies as needed Keeps procedure room clean and neat, makes minor equipment adjustments as needed. Documentation meets current standards and hospital policy Practices medical and surgical aseptic procedures. Assists in maintaining basic records and reports. Assists in maintaining files. The Ultrasound Technologist is responsible for performing a variety of specialized technical tasks in Diagnostic Ultrasound. They will utilize high frequency sound waves to assist medical and professional personnel in detecting anatomical abnormalities while complying with Conway Regional Health System policies and procedures. Through documentation and oral communication, essential information is shared with professional/technical health care personnel. Will be responsible for verifying order, charging procedures, working knowledge of PACS system, transport of patients with all necessary paperwork completion. Job Description Responsible for performing Diagnostic Ultrasound examinations in accordance with established policies and procedures under general supervision. Rotating call for weekends and holidays. This is a safety sensitive position. Demonstrates knowledge of picture archiving and communication systems (PACS). Schedules patients as needed and ensures patients receive adequate service. Maintains ultrasound equipment by performing scheduled cleanings/tests and documents results. Contacts supervisor of malfunctioning equipment to get instructions about contacting service personnel. Performs other related duties as directed in order to support the achievement of established goals and objectives. Responds to emergency call backs within recommended time frame (45-minute response time) Problem Solving/Challenges: Individual is responsible for performing diagnostic ultrasound examinations. Equipment malfunctions present problems in achieving this responsibility. Incumbent must utilize various positioning techniques in order to capture specific areas on film.
