Responsibilities

Routinely maneuvers patient into optimal position(s) according to established guidelines.
Consistently demonstrates appropriate knowledge of normal and abnormal anatomy by obtaining complete series of diagnostic, quality images within an agreed upon time frame per protocol.

JOB SUMMARY: The General Sonographer performs a variety of ultrasound procedures in an outpatient setting while maintaining a high level of customer service and quality patient care. JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:
1. Performs routine ultrasound procedures following the protocols established by the radiologist. Patients are positioned and scanned correctly assuring that the physician prescription and scan are the same.
2. Properly inputs all required patient information into the system including protocol, patient history, referring providers, and any additional information to the radiologist regarding the procedure.
3. Obtains complete and detailed history to assist the radiologist with diagnosis from each patient. Performs exams in an accurate and timely manner.
4. Properly identifies patients and demonstrates compassion while maintaining patient confidentiality. Explains the exam to each patient to ensure patient safety and cooperation.
5. Maintains exam rooms by stocking exam rooms with necessary supplies. Maintains equipment and reports any equipment malfunctions to the supervisor or appropriate service provider.
6. Properly windows and levels images for film printing and burns CDs as necessary.
7. Promotes teamwork by assisting other staff as needed. Performs other duties as required.
8. Customer Service.
WORK EXPERIENCE/EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENTS:
3 or more years in the Sonography field is preferred.
High School Diploma or GED.
Completion of a course in Ultrasound; Current RDMS and RVT certifications are required.
