Position Summary:
We have an exciting opportunity to join our team as an Ultrasound Tech (CV) - Woodhull.
In this role, the successful candidate performs all types of Echocardiography testing. Assists the physicians in the delivery of safe, age appropriate patient care during testing in the Echocardiography Lab. Works collaboratively with the RNs and MDs in a Health team forum to promote wellness and optimize patient outcomes and quality care. Participates in unit/department/institution performance improvement activities that impact patient and service outcomes based on professional practice standards.
Job Responsibilities:
Performs transthoracic echocardiograms, stress echo (both exercise and pharmacological) per department and management guidelines.
Captures digital cardiac images and performs measurements correctly, recognizing pathology andor customizes exam requiring contrast agent accordingly due to lack of image quality.
Performs intra-procedural transthoracic echocardiograms as ordered.
Performs transthoracic echocardiograms as ordered for patients enrolled in Institutional Review Board (IRB) approved clinical trials research protocols.
Transthoracic echocardiograms may be performed in the Echo Lab or done as a portable study at the bedside.
Responds to stat calls accordingly. Reports life threatening pathology to attending Physician or Fellow
Responsible for the preparation of echocardiogram procedure including but not limited to equipment, supplies, instruments and appropriate paperwork.
Participates in orientation of new employees as needed.
Responsible for daily quality control of equipment and escalates issues as needed.
Performs other duties as assigned
Minimum Qualifications:
Technical Diploma.
Graduate of an accredited cardiac ultrasound program.
Registered Cardiac Sonographer (RCS) or Registered Diagnostic Cardiac Sonographer (RDCS) or Registered Congenital Cardiac Sonographer (RCCS) by CCI or ARDMS required at hire.
Current and valid BLS required.
Current and valid BLS certification.
Excellent communication (both written and oral), detail orientation, customer service, multitasking skills.
Basic computer skills.
Experience performing echocardiography with various manufacturer echo machines used in the Echo Lab.
Preferred Qualifications:
1- 2 years Experience performing echocardiograms preferred.

Four (4) days with two (2) 11.5 or 12.5 hour shifts (6:45am-7:30pm, 7:30am-7:30pm, and 8am-8pm) and two (2) 8.5-10 hour shifts (6:45am-5pm, 7am-5pm, and 8am-5pm)
Saturday shifts vary based on office location and include 8am-12pm, 8am-2pm, and 8am-5pm.

Qualifications
Graduate of a CAAHEP accredited Diagnostic Medical Sonography Program.
Certified by ARDMS in Abdomen or OBGYN or ARRT RT(S) with RVT/ RVS preferred.
Minimum of 2-3 years work experience as UltrasoundTechnologist who can perform all aspects of Sonography with expertise in General, Breast, Vascular, small parts and procedures.
Knowledge of all Ultrasound procedures including, but not limited to, Venous Insufficiencies, Arterial Duplex (Upper/Lower Exts), PVR/Segmental/ABI (Upper/Lower Exts), Pre-op Vein Mapping (Upper/Lower Exts), Dialysis access evaluation and Abdominal duplex exams.
American Heart Association (AHA) or Red Cross Basic Life Support certification required prior to the start of employment.
Computer proficiency and current overview and knowledge of all operations with Ultrasound, including all diagnostic medical ultrasound systems are required.
Must be able to work independently or with minimal supervision and demonstrate flexibility in work assignments and schedule.
Ability to produce high quality images and provide documentation accurately and precisely.

Demonstrates knowledge of the hospital and radiology information systems as they relate to radiology.
Selects appropriate patient information from HIS/RIS system in accordance with HIPPA regulations.
Accesses patient information; schedules exams, appointment times, type of exam, patient reports, etc.
Follows departmental HIS/RIS system procedures and protocol to ensure orders are verified and processed to correctly.
Effectively assesses patients information and status, and follows appropriate procedure(s) accordingly.
Uses standard procedures to identify the correct patient.
Reviews patients requisition and understands the type of exam required by each requisition and confers with medical staff regarding clarification when necessary.
Follows accepted radiologic procedures and uses medical information to determine type of protocol required for radiographic examination.
Consults policy and procedure manuals and/or other reference materials as necessary to ensure actions conform to established protocols.
Follows special instructions indicated on radiographic requisition.
Recognizes need for and follows isolation precautions.

Alters examination to maximize information in response to patients' condition.
Confers with other technologists concerning previous approaches utilized.

Performs visual and manual quality control checks of radiograhic equipment.
Uses imaging and peripheral equipment, in a safe and productive manner in accordance with prescribed hospital, departmental and manufacturers procedures.
Observes and reports any malfunctioning of the equipment and notifies appropriate persons in case of missing or damaged equipment.
Directs and monitors student clinical training.
Observes the student during clinical training guide them to perform good ultrasound procedures.
Conveys information to students to increase their level of understanding.
Evaluates the students progress in clinical areas. Monitors the work performed by students under their supervision.
Performs other duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications:
Certificate from an approved ultrasound/vascular technology education program.
Registered or registry eligible to take the Registry exam (ARDMS) within 1 year of hire date.
Five years of ultrasound experience.
Preferred Qualifications:
Registered as American Registered Diagnostic Medical Sonographer (ARDMS), preferred.
Registered Vascular Technologist, preferred.
Bilingual Spanish, Arabic, or Mandarin, highly preferred.
