Ultrasound Technologist Job In Mississippi
Under the general supervision of the Director of Radiology the technologist operates Imaging equipment to safely produce diagnostic images of various anatomical body parts for evaluation and interpretation by the radiologist. Must be able to work and relate in a professional non-defensive manner with peers, physicians, administration, patients and visitors.
The technologist is expected to function within the scope of approved policies, procedures, and regulations for the Radiology Department and SMRMC Health Systems.
Must be able to assist with orientation, preceptorship, and management of personnel assigned to unit.
As determined by the Director of Radiology the technologist will be assigned an 80 hours per pay period, or PRN hours and also must work a rotating- shifts of on call hours.
The attendance to yearly mandatory education requirements is nonnegotiable and is the responsibility of the technologist /employee to arrange and attend sessions.

ROLE:
Provide mobile ultrasound services to our client base
TASKS AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Interact with patients compassionately and professionally by driving company vehicle to each patient, within designated service area
Perform quality ultrasound studies to transmit to radiologist for interpretation
Maintain equipment cleanliness and maintenance schedule
Assist in other service areas, as needed
Submit accurate and timely timesheets, as per protocol
Other duties, as needed:
Scanning, filing, faxing, photocopying, mailing
Attend and participate in meetings
Demonstrate regular attendance
Train other technologists
Perform special projects or other duties, as assigned

Job Summary:
Under the direction of the RN Nurse Manager, the Ultrasound Technologist is responsible for using diagnostic medical equipment to assist providers in diagnosing various medical conditions. The Ultrasound Technologist performs diagnostic ultrasound procedures requiring independent judgement, ingenuity, and initiative. The Ultrasound Technologist demonstrates knowledge and skills to appropriately communicate and interact with staff, patients, families and visitors of all age groups while being sensitive to their cultural and religious beliefs.
Job Responsibilities:
Reviews patient's medical history and providers instructions.
Effectively prepares equipment for procedure and selects appropriate equipment settings.
Accurately explains procedure to patient and records any medical history that may be relevant to the condition being viewed.
Accurately directs the patient to move into positions that will provide the best view.
Operates special equipment to direct nonionizing, high-frequency sound waves into areas of the patient's body to be interpreted by a provider.
Views the screen during the scan, looking for visual cues that contrast healthy areas with unhealthy ones.
Consistently selects the appropriate images to show to the provider for diagnostic purposes.
Accurately takes measurements, calculates values, and analyzes the results in preliminary reports for the providers.
Accurately maintain patient records in the electronic health records
Accurately adjusts and maintains ultrasound equipment.
Demonstrate flexibility in job duties
Effectively communicates with the provider and other staff
Adheres to infection-control policies using universal precautions and PPE as required

* PRN employees must not work more than 29 hours per week or 1000 hours per year.
* PRN employees must not work a reoccurring schedule.
