Equipment Setup - Prepare and calibrate Ultrasound equipment, and ensure daily and weekly quality control measures are taken. Imaging Procedures and Optimization - Conduct imaging studies using various techniques and protocols. Adjust equipment settings to obtain clear and accurate images, optimizing image quality and ensuring diagnostic value. Works closely with the radiologists to perform proper diagnostic testing when abnormalities are identified. Data Analysis - Analyze acquired images and recordings to identify abnormalities, measurements, and anomalies. Assesses diagnostic images for technical quality, proper annotation, and patient identification, ensuring that all relative anatomy is demonstrated. Documentation - Maintain detailed records of procedures, patient information, and image data, ensuring accuracy and compliance with healthcare regulations. Communication - Collaborate with radiologists to discuss findings and help in the development of treatment plans and diagnoses. Maintains accurate and precise documentation. Accurately record orders from physicians in the patient record. Quality Assurance - Comprehends and complies with Quality Control standards and participates in all Quality Control tasks. Complies with all state and federal regulations applicable to the Ultrasound modality. Required Education Associate's degree or higher in echocardiography or a related field from an accredited program. Required Experience Minimum 2 years of experience in outpatient diagnostic imaging facility or hospital required. Required Licenses and Certifications Registered Diagnostic Medical Sonographer (RDMS) through the American Registry of Diagnostic Medical Sonographers (ARDMS). BLS certification. Echocardiography technologist understands all aspects of cardiac disease and performs different types of echocardiography testing with accuracy and analytical skills, in accordance with BHSF and IAC standards. The technologist is responsible for the operation of the laboratory equipment, and for performing and communicating results of all types of echocardiography testing to other healthcare providers. The technologist should maintain a high standard of medical ethics at all times and should be self-motivated to increase level of understanding and knowledge of cardiac diseases as well as new procedures and applications as they evolve.
