POSITION SUMMARY To provide high quality ultrasound procedures to our patients and physicians in a respectful and efficient manner while providing those services in a safe and clean environment. POSITION REQUIREMENTS Formal Education / Training: Graduate of an approved ultrasound school and subsequent Accreditation through ARDMS. May be registered in OB/GYN, ABDOMEN, and BREAST, VASCULAR. BLS is required within 90 days of hire. Workplace Experience: Preference of at least two years of work experience in hospital after graduation and accreditation; however, willing to train. Equipment and Skills Training: Will train on specific equipment and processes utilized at Williamson Medical Center. Physical Environment: Multi modality imaging department that provides OB/GYN, Abdominal, Vascular and Pelvic ultrasound studies, to include Pediatric Imaging. Physical Effort: Possesses the ability to perform multifunctional tasks to include: physically manipulate and operate equipment, assist in the movement of patients from wheelchairs to stretchers; bend, twist, stoop; lift 20 pounds; communicate clearly, both verbally and in writing; make appropriate judgment decisions in urgent or emergency situations; and demonstrate emotional stability and psychological health in day to day interaction with fellow employees, patients, their families, and physicians. Must be willing to take call for STAT, Urgent, and Routine studies after hours and on weekends and must be available within 30 minutes for STAT Procedures. PERFORMANCE STANDARDS Checks patient identification and physician order to ensure accuracy of request before proceeding with study. Communicates potential or existing problems/opportunities to improve quality of care or services. Strives to maintain the dignity of each patient by ensuring the patient is properly covered at all times; during exam and patient transport. Seeks opportunities to assist in other areas during downtime periods and always makes good use of time. Checks often on patients waiting in hallways to ensure that the patient is covered and comfortable (Pain Management). Performs all biopsies with the proper "Time Out" procedure to include marking of body part as well as proper process in labeling specimens. Shows leadership and teamwork in difficult situations and makes appropriate decisions. Transports patients to and from room in accordance with transport processes, to include using Hand Off Form, when necessary. Ensures the safety of patients by following all safety procedures while moving patients from wheelchair to include proper footwear. Performs high quality studies consistently and follows pre-determined standards and procedures for all ultrasound studies. Will scan according to predetermined protocols provided by Radiologists. Willing to provide portable studies for patients when it is in the best interest of the patient as deemed necessary by the patient's nurse or nursing supervisor. Utilizes knowledge of anatomy and disease processes to accurately communicate patient pathology to Radiologist.

To report preliminary findings, measurements and diagnoses to the Radiologist. To record scanned ultrasound images and transfer to PACS for interpretation after checking image quality. In addition to scanning, the duties include chart review, maintaining data logs as required. Sonographers are expected to provide clinical information pertinent to the exams performed for the Radiologist. Position Responsibilities: Demonstrate the ability to perform quality and timely routine diagnostic ultrasound studies and render accurate written summaries. POSITION SUMMARY The Vascular Sonographer reports to the Vascular Lab Director and performs all required vascular ultrasound and Doppler examinations at a high technical level under limited supervision. In this position, the Vascular Sonographer will perform ultrasound examinations at multiple locations. At all times, the Vascular Lab Sonographer maintains a high level of medical ethics, is self-motivated, strives to increase their knowledge and understanding of the field of vascular diagnosis and treatment, while constantly maintaining patient privacy and respecting patient confidential information. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: Performs a full range of non-invasive vascular ultrasound exams, including arterial, venous, carotid, and abdominal studies, following established protocols and diagnostic criteria to support accurate clinical diagnosis. Reviews and evaluates all images for completeness and diagnostic quality before presenting them to the interpreting physician. Ensures that significant findings are clearly documented and promptly communicated when necessary. Maintains ultrasound equipment in proper working condition and keeps work areas clean and organized. Monitors supply inventory and notifies the supervisor when items need to be replenished. Accurately enters vascular exam information into the billing system daily, applying correct CPT and ICD-10 codes. Ensures proper documentation to support insurance claims and timely reimbursement. Assists with maintaining IAC vascular laboratory accreditation by contributing to quality assurance, documentation updates, and the preparation of required case logs and reports. Ensures patient privacy and confidentiality in compliance with HIPAA. Adheres to OSHA standards for safety, infection control, and equipment use. Communicates effectively with physicians, medical assistants, and office staff to support coordinated and efficient patient care. Provides ultrasound coverage at clinic locations as assigned by the Vascular Lab Director, with flexibility for changes based on operational needs.
