WHAT YOU CAN DO FOR FCMC
Our UltrasoundTechnologists perform specialized exams under the supervision of a Radiologist to diagnose, treat, and care for our patients. More specifically, some of the UltrasoundTechnologists' vital responsibilities include:
Performing different types of ultrasounds ranging from OBGYN to Vascular
Assisting Radiologists with complicated ultrasound biopsies
Producing high quality films for Radiologists to evaluate; maintaining a high degree of accuracy in ultrasound imaging
Performing quality control functions related to ultrasound
Ensuring patient comfort and privacy and educating the patient regarding the exam
Completing documentation
Assisting in compiling and maintaining statistical data
Applying professional and ethical judgment and critical thinking
Participating in continuing education and learning experiences to enhance and maintain current knowledge and skills
Requirements
Qualifications:
Completed one-to-two-year Sonography or Ultrasound Technology certification at an accredited institution
Valid ARDMS, ARRT, RDCS, or RVT registration as required by state law
Current CPR/BLS certification
Skilled in ultrasound equipment operation
Basic computer literacy
Detail-oriented and able to work as a team member
Willing to participate in 30 Continuing Education Units every three years
Essential Job Functions:
Regular and predictable attendance is required
Regularly required to move or lift between 50-100 pounds using proper body mechanics
Regularly required to stand for long periods with frequent squatting, twisting, bending, kneeling, and reaching to prepare equipment, materials, or objects

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Ultrasonographer
Performs a variety of Sonographic procedures independently in accordance with existing policies and procedures, both within the Ultrasonography suite and/or patient room or unit.
Assists the Radiologist with invasive procedures that may include, but are not limited to: Amniocenteses, Core and Needle biopsy, cyst aspiration and line placements.
Documents appropriate patient information necessary for interpretation and patient care.
Assesses technical quality of sonograms before giving such to the Radiologist; performs retakes as necessary.
Assists the Radiologist with invasive procedures that may include, but are not limited to: Paracentesis, thoracentesis, Core and Needle biopsy, cyst aspiration and line placements as needed.
Covers emergent patients from hospital emergency department and hospital inpatients. Willing to share call responsibilities to cover the needs of emergent patients.
Answers questions and provides information to center customers, including nursing staff, physicians, and the general public on sonographic procedures, sonographic anatomy, and sonographic principles.
Trouble shoots technical problems and works with the vendors to resolve problems that arise.
Maintains flexibility as department grows with a willingness to accept additional responsibilities requested by department director.
Demonstrates age-specific competency for the following groups: neonate, pediatric, adolescent, adult, and geriatric.
Acts professional in every situation: patient, co-worker or intradepartmental.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: (The Wound Care Associate)
1. Independently performs a wide range of ultrasound examinations in accordance with established departmental policies and procedures, both in the department and at the patient's bedside.
2. Demonstrates advanced knowledge of fetal anatomy, pathology, and physiology, as well as an understanding of systemic maternal-fetal interactions. Appropriately positions patients to optimize image quality while ensuring comfort and safety.
3. Assist physician with invasive diagnostic and therapeutic procedures, including amniocentesis.
4. Recognizes clinical concerns or emergent conditions that may impact examinations and takes appropriate action in accordance with departmental protocols.
5. Apply critical thinking and clinical judgment to enhance examinations using additional imaging modalities when indicated by fetal anomalies or maternal conditions. Selects and acquires high-quality images for physician interpretation.
6. Accurately measures maternal and fetal anatomical structures and pathology to support diagnostic evaluation and identification of fetal abnormalities.
7. Evaluates the technical quality of sonographic studies prior to submission and completes required worksheets for interpretation by the maternal-fetal medicine specialist.
8. Provides compassionate, patient-centered care, recognizing that many patients may be experiencing emotionally challenging situations. Maintains empathy and professionalism in all patient interactions.
9. Maintains professional and respectful communication with patients, physicians, nursing staff, colleagues, and other interdisciplinary team members.
10. Responds to inquiries and provides education to patients, physicians, nursing staff, and the public regarding sonographic procedures, anatomy, and imaging principles.
11. Identifies and troubleshoots technical equipment issues and collaborates with vendors and technical support to resolve problems efficiently.

Here is what you will be doing:
Performs and/or assists in performing procedures by following physician orders.
Performs all ultrasound examinations, ensuring all studies meet the established standards of the radiologist, radiation oncologist and other involved referring physician to include: abdominal, vascular, obstetrics and gynecology, superficial structures, neonatal brains, intraoperative and guidance procedures along with utilizing plethysmography.
