    The Ultrasound Technologist performs all ordered Duplex Ultrasound scans and assists the physician or provider in performing procedures for patients suffering from chronic venous insufficiency. The Ultrasound Technologist also participates in quality and safety initiatives, educating and motivating patients, and in practice building and administrative activities. JOB RESPONSIBILITIES Perform patient evaluation and assessment prior to ultrasound examination within scope of practice Perform ultrasound examination of patients and create a diagram demonstrating venous anatomy, physiology, and pathophysiology to assist the physician in recommending a safe, effective treatment plan Assist the Physician in educating the patient on the treatment plan and how the treatment plan addresses the patient's specific needs Assist the Physician or Advanced Practice Provider during Ultrasound Guided Injection treatment sessions with the appropriate directions regarding needle placement and recommendations for volume and strength of solution to be injected Assist the Physician during endovenous thermal or endovenous adhesive ablation procedures with the appropriate directions regarding catheter placement and withdrawal, and set up for and clean up following ablation procedures Perform all additional scans indicated by the treatment plan at the direction of the Physician to ensure the efficacy of treatment and safety of the patients Within the limits of safety, adhere to the standard time allotments for each type of scan in order to maintain the smooth and efficient flow of patients throughout the course of the scheduled day Working with the operations staff, review and update the ultrasound schedule to ensure safe patient care and to maintain the patient load at an efficient and productive level Develop and maintain a high level of skills commensurate with the standards set by the National Medical Director through continued education and interaction with other VCA Ultrasound Technologists Maintain equipment and manage the supply inventory to ensure continued and effective operations Clean and maintain designated ultrasound and procedure rooms following each procedure or scan and at the end of the day to ensure smooth patient flow throughout the day Obtain and document patient photos at several intervals throughout the treatment process When not actively engaged with a scheduled patient, assist other staff members with their duties in the spirit of teamwork in order to maintain an effective and efficient operation Maintain flexibility with given schedule, and in the nature of team spirit, provide support and coverage for other clinics in need of ultrasound coverage Build rapport with patients by instilling a high level of confidence in our providers' ability to fully address their medical concerns Develop efficiencies that will allow clinic to increase patient flow and still provide the highest quality of care to patients Please note this job description is not designed to cover or contain a comprehensive listing of activities, duties or responsibilities that are required of the employee for this job. Must have current Basic Life Support (BLS) for the Healthcare Provider certification. Essential Duties Performing Ultrasound Imaging: Perform a variety of ultrasound procedures, including abdominal, pelvic, obstetric, and vascular imaging, using advanced ultrasound equipment. Capture high-quality images and video recordings of anatomical structures. Evaluate images for technical quality, manipulate display parameters, and provide hard copy records of procedures. Practices aseptic technique when necessary. Quality Assurance: Participate in quality control duties and department quality improvement activities. Maintain records of equipment and quality control procedures, including cleaning and maintaining. Operate and maintain ultrasound equipment, perform routine checks, and report any equipment malfunctions. Provide input for equipment purchases and supply decisions. Documentation: Maintain accurate records of patient information, imaging procedures, and equipment usage. Ensure proper storage of digitized images and assist in maintaining inventory and purchasing supplies. Collaboration: Verifies informed consent for and assist radiologists and licensed physicians with interventional procedures. Corroborate patients clinical history with the procedures. Patient Care: Prepare and position patients for ultrasound exams, explaining procedures and addressing any concerns to ensure patient comfort and cooperation. Immobilize patients as required for the appropriate examination, applying principles of Ultrasound safety to minimize risk. Safety Compliance: Apply principles of ultrasonography to minimize risk to patients, staff, and yourself. Adhere to infection control practices and ensure proper handling of specimen. Non-essential Duties Assist with scheduling patients, transcribing orders, and managing patient records. Attend monthly department meetings and participate in the department's quality assessment and improvement plan. Assist in the training and supervision of new ultrasound technologists or students, providing practical instructions. Responsibilities Preferred Experience Demonstrated competency in ultrasonographic procedures and medical imaging technology. Experience in maintaining additional education in ultrasonic anatomy is preferred. Required Licensure/Education Graduate of an accredited diagnostic sonography program or successful completion of 9 months in an accredited program as indicated in a statement from the last clinical site and program director and expected to graduate within 6 months. Registry eligible by successful completion of the Physics registry or ARRT (S) or ARDMS registration. Registry applicants must achieve ARRT (S) or ARDMS registration within 24 months of hire. Successful completion of one other registry (AB, AE, BR, FE, MSK, NE, OB, PE, PS, PVI, or VT) within 18 months of hire is required.
