Previously employed applicants who have been gone from the organization more than 90 days may also be eligible. Dublin Methodist Hospital is hiring a full-time ultrasound technologist. The hours for this position are Monday-Friday, 9:30a - 6:00p with a weekly call rotation. The ultrasonographer independently performs requested ultrasound examinations, searching for any possible pathology as indicated by the patient's symptoms/medical history and/or results from previous testing. The position reviews and discusses the ultrasound findings with the radiologist and a diagnosis is made. Responsibilities And Duties: 60% Performs various ultrasound examinations. Subjectively interprets information based on judgmental decisions by Ultrasonographers, requiring in-depth knowledge of human anatomy, physiology and pathology. Maintains complete knowledge of wave form physics, i.e., , time gain compensation curves, attenuation factors, etc. , required to set equipment variable properly for appropriate imaging of specific anatomy. Assists Radiologists with performance of invasive procedures. 10% Independently evaluates normal vs. abnormal test results in correlation with patient history, previous examinations, lab results, etc. 10% Independently gives preliminary ultrasound results to attending physicians, surgeons, residents, etc. regarding any vascular ultrasound procedures as determined by site accreditation. 10% Teaches/educates imaging students, medical students and residents in basic scanning methods and instrumentation of ultrasound. 10% Maintains equipment and stocks supplies. Performs quality control procedures and maintains documentation. Vascular Interventional (VIR) Specific: The VIR Radiologic Technologist must be competent as the assistant to the Interventional Radiologist for minimally invasive, image-guided vascular procedures in roles that include scrubbing, monitoring, and circulating. The technologist must have knowledge of the various imaging equipment in use including fluoroscopy, computed tomography (CT), and ultrasound. Neuro Interventional Specific: The Neuro Interventional Radiologic Technologist must be competent as the assistant to the Neuro Interventional Radiologist for diagnostic and interventional procedures. The technologist must have knowledge of the X-ray equipment in use, hemodynamic monitoring, cerebral angiogram coiling, avascular malformations, stroke interventions and sterile technique. Responsibilities And Duties: 85% Radiologic technologist must be competent as the assistant to the Interventionalist in specific area as described above in summary for each area. 10% Greets patients upon arrival to department. Checks chart for required data (i.e., informed consent). Reports absences or abnormalities to RN/physician. Explains procedures, gives instructions, and answers patients' questions. Participates in room turnover and transporting of patients. (5%) Assists Radiation Safety officer in QA of labs and radiation protective apparel on regular basis. Performs tasks using radiation safety principles; checks lead aprons for tears; reports findings and removes inadequate gear from service; maintains accurate records or work with Radiology department to maintain records.     General Summary Under direct supervision of the Ultrasound Coordinator and Radiology Director, adheres to the policies and procedures of CCHS and the Department of Radiology. Provides clinical instruction to Ultrasound students. Must communicate well, with all departments of Radiology and those outside of Radiology. On-call responsibilities are required. The Ultrasound Technologist is responsible, for duties involving direct patient care, Ultrasound procedures and safety. MINIMUM QUALIFICATION Education, Knowledge, Skills and Abilities * Graduate of an AMA approved School of Radiologic Technology and/or graduate of an approved program in Ultrasound. Must demonstrate proficiency in operation of Ultrasound equipment, plethysmography equipment, computer skills, communication and interpersonal skills with all customer groups, in a fast paced environment. Required Length and Type of Experience This position requires a minimum of 1 year patient care delivery; in addition, one year formal ultrasound training is preferred. Required Licensure or Certification * Registered with the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists and/or * Registered or registry eligible with the A.R.D.M.S. In this role, you will ensure patients are properly prepared for their exams, perform diagnostic ultrasound studies, and accurately complete all related documentation. Responsibilities also include scanning and archiving medical records and verifying the accuracy of billing and imaging information. Join our team and together provide exceptional patient care. **A caregiver in this role works weekend days from 8:00 a.m. - 8:30 p.m.** **_This role will provide coverage at both Medina Hospital and Select Medical Edwin Shaw Rehabilitation Hospital._** A caregiver who excels in this role will: + Perform diagnostic sonographic imaging through the application of non-ionizing, high-frequency sound waves for patients of all ages. + Perform ultrasound studies (i.e. obstetrical, GYN, abdominal, retro peritoneal, small parts, pediatric and vascular). + Consult with referring physicians regarding patients' medical history and selection of appropriate procedures and equipment required for proper diagnosis. + Review charts, previous reports and requisition prior to the exam. + Educate patients regarding procedures, equipment and exams to ensure understanding and cooperation. + Ensure patients' comfort and safety during and after the exam. + Assist with scheduling of patients and schedule all emergency patients for diagnostic ultrasound procedures. + Monitor all appointments scheduled for ultrasound examinations. + Perform preliminary research on patients when preparations are not provided and determine priority of patients based on the daily schedules. + Acquire, archive, transmit and print images via PACS. + Complete after hours transmission of images and appropriate paperwork. + Immediately report any malfunctions to help desk and PACS Administrator. + Process billing via RIS. + Ensure proper function of ultrasound equipment and notify clinical engineering of any equipment malfunctions. + Adequately supply exam rooms with linen and related medical supplies. + Assist with clinical instruction of ultrasound students and residents and in-service education of caregivers. + Assist with orienting new caregivers to the equipment, department procedures and scanning protocols. + Demonstrate ultrasound equipment for caregivers and visitors. + Potentially rotate through all diagnostic imaging modalities, sites and/or locations. + Assist in new investigative techniques, procedures and equipment. + Maintain the most up to date knowledge in the field through self-motivated education and attendance of appropriate conferences and symposiums. + RDMS must be maintained and in good standing. + If working within the Imaging Institute, perform non-invasive vascular studies to include veins, arteries, pulse volume readings and assist the physician during invasive studies. Minimum qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include: + Graduate of an accredited school in Diagnostic Medical Sonography and in good standing + Registered Diagnostic Sonographer (RDMS) through the American Registry for Diagnostic Medical Sonographers (ARDMS) or American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) RT(S) or RT(VS) upon hire. + One certification within abdominal (RDMS, AB), OB/GYN (RDMS, OB/GYN) or vascular (RVT, VT) through the American Registry for Diagnostic Medical Sonographers (ARDMS) upon hire. The other two certifications must be obtained within 18 months of hire + Basic Life Support (BLS) certification through American Heart Association or American Red Cross Preferred qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include: + One year of experience as a Diagnostic Medical Sonographer **Physical Requirements:** + Requires standing and walking for extended periods of time. + Must be able to lift or assist with lifting patients of varying weight and manipulate equipment daily. **Personal Protective Equipment:** + Follows standard precautions using personal protective equipment as required. **Pay Range** Minimum hourly: $33.25 Maximum hourly: $52.50 The pay range displayed on this job posting reflects the anticipated range for new hires.
