Your Role: As a mobile Diagnostic Medical Sonographer, you will:
Perform and process ultrasounds, sending them digitally to radiologists for interpretation.
Transport and set up portable ultrasound equipment at various facilities to perform exams ordered by physicians.
Obtain clinically diagnostic, technically competent sonography images.
Scan exam-related paperwork and billing each day per protocol.
Maintain regular attendance and uphold professional communication with peers, leadership, and clients.
Ensure the maintenance of your vehicle and sonography equipment.
Keep the required state licenses, certifications, health requirements, and operational standards up to date.
Required Skills:
Attend meetings as required.
Hold a valid driver's license in good standing.
Submit accurate and timely timesheets each day per protocol.

Sonographer OBGYN - Part Time - Days

This position exists in the OB/Gyn specialty area and works under the general direction of the physician and/or supervision of the manager. It requires competencies in a variety of OB procedures, performing ultrasound examinations in accordance with AIUM guidelines and protocols specializing in Level I OB/Gyn Ultrasound. The responsibilities include quality care of patients, accurate record keeping, care of equipment and other duties as assigned.
KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS:
EDUCATION: Graduate from an accredited Ultrasound training program, RDMS Registry in related ultrasound specialty (OB/GYN) required and must maintain the minimum continuing education requirements of the registry and ACR/AIUM as appropriate.
YEARS OF EXPERIENCE: Minimum of 1 year in an OB/GYN ultrasound setting.
REQUIRED SKILLS AND KNOWLEDGE: This position requires:
• the ability to perform the routine procedures and real time techniques of the specialty, including M-mode, pulse and color Doppler, and have a good grasp of fetal and cross-sectional anatomy and medical terminology
• the skill set to provide relevant technical information about the exam to the interpreting physician.
• familiarity with structured reporting system (currently utilize AS software at Christ Hospital)
• customer service and communication skills to interact positively and constructively with staff, patients and physicians
This job Posting is for a part time position, three days a week. 8-4:30pm (Monday and Tuesday required)
LICENSES & CERTIFICATIONS:
This position requires certification as a Registered Diagnostic Medical Sonographer (RDMS) in the appropriate field, must obtain OB/GYN ARDMS status within first 6 months of hire if not already certified. BLS Certification.
1. Performs imaging and procedural duties of an OB/Gyn Sonographer.
• Follows testing protocols as established by the Medical Director and related professional standards.
• Produces quality study images & data by demonstrating competence and proper use of imaging and accessory equipment.
• Prepares patients and provides ultrasound guided assistance to the physician during procedures (SIS procedures).
• Assesses the patient's physical, psychosocial, and educational needs, and obtains an appropriate history prior to each test.
• Confirms appropriateness of supporting information and documentation for the exam being performed.
• Maximizes services and maintains the work flow, performs assignments within the established time duration and actively helps others when needed.
• Explains testing procedures to patients, family members and other staff members connected to the care of the patient as needed.

Diagnostic Medical Sonographers use ultrasound technology to produce high-quality images that assist physicians in assessing and diagnosing a wide range of conditions. A caregiver who excels in this role will:
+ Perform diagnostic sonographic imaging through the application of non-ionizing, high-frequency sound waves for patients of all ages.
+ Perform ultrasound studies (i.e. obstetrical, GYN, abdominal, retro peritoneal, small parts, pediatric and vascular).
+ Consult with referring physicians regarding patients' medical history and selection of appropriate procedures and equipment required for proper diagnosis.
+ Review charts, previous reports and requisition prior to the exam.
+ Educate patients regarding procedures, equipment and exams to ensure understanding and cooperation.
+ Ensure patients' comfort and safety during and after the exam.
+ Assist with scheduling of patients and schedule all emergency patients for diagnostic ultrasound procedures.
+ Monitor all appointments scheduled for ultrasound examinations.
+ Perform preliminary research on patients when preparations are not provided and determine priority of patients based on the daily schedules.
+ Acquire, archive, transmit and print images via PACS.
+ Complete after hours transmission of images and appropriate paperwork.
+ Immediately report any malfunctions to help desk and PACS Administrator.
+ Process billing via RIS.
+ Ensure proper function of ultrasound equipment and notify clinical engineering of any equipment malfunctions.
+ Adequately supply exam rooms with linen and related medical supplies.
+ Assist with clinical instruction of ultrasound students and residents and in-service education of caregivers.
+ Assist with orienting new caregivers to the equipment, department procedures and scanning protocols.
+ Demonstrate ultrasound equipment for caregivers and visitors.
+ Potentially rotate through all diagnostic imaging modalities, sites and/or locations.
+ Assist in new investigative techniques, procedures and equipment.
+ Maintain the most up to date knowledge in the field through self-motivated education and attendance of appropriate conferences and symposiums.
+ RDMS must be maintained and in good standing.
+ If working within the Imaging Institute, perform non-invasive vascular studies to include veins, arteries, pulse volume readings and assist the physician during invasive studies.
Minimum qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include:
+ Graduate of an accredited school in Diagnostic Medical Sonography and in good standing
+ Registered Diagnostic Sonographer (RDMS) through the American Registry for Diagnostic Medical Sonographers (ARDMS) or American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) RT(S) or RT(VS) upon hire.
+ One certification within abdominal (RDMS, AB), OB/GYN (RDMS, OB/GYN) or vascular (RVT, VT) through the American Registry for Diagnostic Medical Sonographers (ARDMS) upon hire. The other two certifications must be obtained within 18 months of hire
+ Basic Life Support (BLS) certification through American Heart Association or American Red Cross
Preferred qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include:
+ One year of experience as a Diagnostic Medical Sonographer
**Physical Requirements:**
+ Requires standing and walking for extended periods of time.
+ Must be able to lift or assist with lifting patients of varying weight and manipulate equipment daily.
