Under the general supervision of the Director of Radiology the technologist operates Imaging equipment to safely produce diagnostic images of various anatomical body parts for evaluation and interpretation by the radiologist. Must be able to work and relate in a professional non-defensive manner with peers, physicians, administration, patients and visitors. The technologist is expected to function within the scope of approved policies, procedures, and regulations for the Radiology Department and SMRMC Health Systems. Must be able to assist with orientation, preceptorship, and management of personnel assigned to unit. As determined by the Director of Radiology the technologist will be assigned an 80 hours per pay period, or PRN hours and also must work a rotating- shifts of on call hours. The Ultrasound Tech 2 performs diagnostic sonographic examinations utilizing ultrasonic equipment to locate, evaluate and record critical physiological, pathological, and anatomical data. Produces ultrasound images to aid in the diagnosis of medical problems. The ultrasound technologist monitors and ensures safety of patient and staff. Performs patient screening by using established protocols. Utilizes departmental policy to perform safe operation of equipment and in all functions of the job.
