This is a PRN position and will be scheduled on an as needed basis. JOB RESPONSIBILITIES: 1. Performs routine ultrasound procedures following the protocols established by the radiologist. Patients are positioned and scanned correctly assuring that the physician prescription and scan are the same. 2. Properly inputs all required patient information into the system including protocol, patient history, referring providers, and any additional information to the radiologist regarding the procedure. 3. Obtains complete and detailed history to assist the radiologist with diagnosis from each patient. Performs exams in an accurate and timely manner. 4. Properly identifies patients and demonstrates compassion while maintaining patient confidentiality. Explains the exam to each patient to ensure patient safety and cooperation. 5. Maintains exam rooms by stocking exam rooms with necessary supplies. Maintains equipment and reports any equipment malfunctions to the supervisor or appropriate service provider. 6. Properly windows and levels images for film printing and burns CDs as necessary. 7. Promotes teamwork by assisting other staff as needed. Performs other duties as required. 8. Customer Service. WORK EXPERIENCE/EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENTS: 3 or more years in the Sonography field is preferred. High School Diploma or GED. Completion of a course in Ultrasound; Current RDMS and RVT certifications are required. SKILLS/PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: Skills in properly positioning patients and obtaining diagnostic images, identifying equipment problems, establishing and maintaining effective working relationships with patients, medical staff, and public. Education (Degree/Diploma/Certificate) Must be a graduate of an approved and accredited Ultrasound training program. Certification/Licensure/Registration Must be a Registered Ultrasound Technologist and maintain active registration with Sonography Canada and/or the American Registry of Diagnostic Medical Sonographers (ARDMS). Registration with the Canadian Association of Medical Radiography Technologists (CAMRT) would be an asset. Qualifications and Skills Windows computer environment required. Microsoft Office programs preferred. Follow oral and written instructions precisely with attention to detail. Demonstrated effective oral and written communication skills required in English. Demonstrated ability to work both independently and as a team member. Demonstrated organizational and interpersonal skills with ability to establish and maintain positive working relationships in a multi-disciplinary team environment and with external agencies, groups and the public required. Proficient analytical skills. Work under pressure. Maintains confidentiality with all information entrusted to the position. Fluent language skills (written and oral) in both French and English may be required. Ability to perform duties as described.
