Job Overview
Under the general direction of the Ultrasound Clinical Supervisor, performs a variety of procedures involving the use of high frequency sound waves to investigate the vascular aspects of the abdomen, pelvis, neck, upper and lower extremities. Requires a high degree of technical knowledge pertaining to acoustics and its various interactions within the human body. An in-depth knowledge of anatomy and physiology is also required so the technologist can evaluate laboratory data, past medical history and pertinent symptoms to tailor the ultrasound or vascular examination to each patient individually.
Job Description
Minimum Qualifications:
1. Associates degree or higher in two (2) year Ultrasound program.
2. American Registry of Diagnostic Medical Sonographer (ARDMS).
3. Registered Vascular Technologist (RVT) within one year of date of hire.
Preferred Qualifications:
1. Two (2) years as an ultrasound technologist with one (1) additional year of experience performing vascular examinations.

1. Sets up and operates equipment, manipulating transducers and adjusting console dials to obtain a clear recording of specified sections of the body.
2. Assists radiologists and/or vascular surgeons in interpretation by describing anatomy, anatomical location and acoustic characteristics of each film or computer report.
3. Utilizes patient charts to review patient's medical history and previous exams.
4. Reports findings of each exam to radiologist including documenting of technologist worksheet.
5. Performs exams according to IAC protocols.
6. Independently oversees a daily outpatient schedule as well as accommodating inpatient exams as well.
7. Keeps up to date of new developments, techniques, and equipment in the ultrasound field by attending courses, seminars and review of professional publications.

1. Frequent standing, occasional sitting & walking, lifting of 30-35 lbs., pushing and maneuvering equipment.

Responsibilities
Under direction of the Manager, Radiology Imaging Quality and Education or designee, perform diversified duties involving the clinical instruction to students and staff, involvement and development with department and system-wide educational programs, quality improvement and regulatory readiness activities and the clinical duties and responsibilities of an Imaging Technologist.
Qualifications
* B.S. Degree in Health Care, Education or other related field is required or must be enrolled in a Bachelor degree program from an accredited college or university within 6 months of hire or promotion into position; degree must be completed within five (5) years.
* Licensed/Registered in the area of Imaging Services (RT(R), RT(N), RDMS.) in Ultrasound; a multi-credentialed individual is preferred but not required.
* Proficient skills in Microsoft Office, i.e. Word, Excel, Access, PowerPoint are required.
* Two (2) years of directly related work experience is required.
* Must be fully vaccinated against seasonal Influenza and the COVID 19 virus or to be exempt from the requirement for medical or personal reasons by signing a statement certifying you are choosing to be exempt from vaccination once hired
Compensation: Pay rate will be determined based on level of experience.

Job Summary
Reports to and functions under the general supervision of the Department Director. Operates ultrasound equipment and performs all diagnostic examinations per protocols. Understands and applies ultrasound technology for patient care; maintains pertinent records.
Qualifications
Essential Job Duties and Responsibilities
Conducts scanning process using ultrasound equipment; move transducer over specified body area, adjusting equipment to produce optimum image; records digital images as directed for radiologist interpretation.
Reviews patient history and other supporting clinical data to facilitate optimum diagnostic results.
Explains procedures to patients to assure cooperation and understanding of exam.
Selects appropriate transducer depending upon area of interest and depth of field.
Positions patient for optimal results as required per exam.
Reschedules exams, as necessary, due to poor prep, etc.
QCs images and ensures that images are transferred to PACS and available for radiologist interpretation.
Assembles all necessary information and diagnostic images for Radiologist-exam completed in the RIS, NOTES, report impression as applicable.
Assists physician in such procedures as interventional procedures, etc.; scans patient, marks patient's body, determines angle for puncture while maintaining sterile technique.
Maintains a high standard of professionalism at all times.
Actively supports Mission, Vision and Values and departmental initiatives.
Maintains a clean and neat working area (i.e., clean laundry bags, counters, cabinets, machines, etc.).
Ensures cleanliness of all probes, including appropriate high-level disinfectant technique for endocavity probes.
May oversee, instruct, and orientate various and new personnel within the department (e.g., mentoring and training to students as assigned).
Works effectively under pressure and remains respectful of all.
Able to work effectively and efficiently alone or as part of the team.
Provides emergency on-call as needed or required.
Performs all other duties as directed.

Credentials and Experience Required:
Certificate of successful completion of a DMS program.
Completion of clinical experience required.
Registered Diagnostic Medical Sonographer (RDMS) certified by ARDMS.
Minimum 2 years ultrasound experience in a hospital-based ultrasound environment OR a current unregistered ultrasound tech employee that has successfully achieved their RDMS.
BLS/CPR certification required within one week of hire. AHA & ARC accepted.
