Reconfirms patient identification using two unique identifiers (Name and DOB) and verifies procedure requested. Verifies female patient pregnancy status when appropriate. Monitors patient and equipment during procedures, accurately documents exam times (start and stop), patient reactions or problems, and reports concerns or issues immediately to supervisor. Documents patient and exam occurrences in the appropriate Imaging software database, to include exam start and complete times. Performs such exams as abdominal, renal, aorta, thyroid, pelvic, obstetrical, bio-physical profiles, vascular studies, testicular and breasts, color flow studies, Doppler studies, renal biopsies, and fluid collections of localized areas. Takes representative anatomical pictures, recognizes normal versus abnormal anatomy, and exhibits knowledge of various pathological processes. Has thorough knowledge of cross-sectional anatomy and physiology to sufficiently pinpoint area of imaging. Quality of Care The technologist provides evidence-based care to prevent the development of a Healthcare Acquired Condition and hospital readmissions. The technologist practices standard precautions during patient contact and while handling contaminated materials. The technologist complies with CDC hand hygiene guidelines and works to reduce hospital acquired infections and other conditions. Comply with all regulatory, organizational, and departmental statutes, policies, and procedures.
