Qualifications
Education: Completion of an Ultrasound education program approved by ARDMS
Certification:
Registered Diagnostic Medical Sonographer (RDMS)
CPR (BLS) Certification
Experience:

At least 1 year in a hospital setting
Note: Graduates who completed clinical training at WRNMMC may qualify under an entry-level contract exemption
Licensure: Valid, unrestricted license in at least one S. state or territory

Proficient in general, vascular, and Doppler ultrasound procedures
Experience with PACS and MHS Genesis (Cerner) systems

Key Responsibilities
Perform comprehensive ultrasound procedures, including but not limited to:
Abdomen, pelvis, obstetric (1st-3rd trimester), neonatal, vascular, thyroid, scrotal, and transplant imaging
Assist in interventional procedures in radiology, OR, and specialty clinics
Use and manage PACS and MHS Genesis (Cerner) systems
Respond to STAT and routine imaging orders; document findings using IPASS
Participate in staff training, competency assessments, and emergency protocols
Mentor student technologists and resident physicians
Maintain compliance with HIPAA, infection control, and all WRNMMC protocols
Collaborate with physicians and multidisciplinary staff for patient care coordination

Responsibilities
The Diagnostic Medical Sonographer provides diagnostic ultrasound tests for patients in the Maternal Fetal Medicine setting. The Diagnostic Medical Sonographer works independently and with other members of the healthcare team to provide comprehensive care to pregnant women.
Explains exam to patient and family prior to the commencement of the test to assure cooperation and optimum test results.
Acquires anatomical, pathological, and/or physiological data.
Records/processes sonographic data and other pertinent observations made during the procedure.
Creates a preliminary report for physician interpretation and review/signature.
Assists physician with procedures such as amniocentesis and chorionic villus sampling.
Recognizes equipment malfunctions and takes appropriate corrective action.
Responsible for maintaining adequate inventory of ultrasound supplies.
Follows the accredited laboratory protocols for obtaining two‐dimensional images, color flow, Doppler, and m‐mode where applicable.
Rotates as needed to cover Sonographer absences.
Performs related and other assigned duties as directed.
Qualifications
Education:
Graduate of an accredited sonography program with a degree in ultrasonography or equivalent.
Maintain or be eligible for certification as an American Registered Diagnostic Medical Sonographer (ARDMS) in OB/GYN.
Must provide evidence of continuing education credits to fulfill accreditation requirements.
CPR certification required.
Experience
Minimum six months experience as an ultrasound technician working in OB/GYN and/or MFM setting preferred.

Skilled in operating ultrasound equipment.
Ability to react calmly and effectively in emergency situations.

For gynecologic ultrasound examinations and procedures: Sets up ultrasound and procedure equipment; positions patient appropriately; operates ultrasound with or without physician guidance when appropriate (including but not limited to SIS)
For obstetric ultrasound examinations and procedures: Sets up ultrasound and procedure equipment; positions patient appropriately; operates ultrasound with or without physician guidance when appropriate (including but not limited to, amniotic fluid assessment, fetal viability, limited - detailed - and complete obstetric ultrasound, biometry and fetal wellbeing assessments, fetal Doppler studies, fetal echocardiograms, CVS, amniocentesis, first-trimester screening). Processes and labels samples for laboratory submission.
Generates reports on examinations and procedures and ensures that they are sent to the referring physician.
Submits billing for patients with appropriate codes for diagnoses and procedures.
Demonstrates techniques and procedures to students and residents as assigned through the Department of OB/GYN.
Performs decontamination on equipment.
Minimum Qualifications
Education
Graduation from an accredited Diagnostic Medical Sonography Program
Licensure
Current and valid certification in Fetal Medicine Foundation (FMF) to perform first-trimester nuchal translucency for risk assessment must be obtained within one year of hire.
Current and valid certification in OB/GYN with the American Registry for Diagnostic Medical Sonography (ARDMS).
Experience
A minimum of 2 years of experience as an UltrasoundTechnologist.
Physical Requirements
Stand, walk, and reach above the shoulder frequently in a clinical setting.
Must be able to occasionally lift and carry or push and pull up to 100 lbs. as part of the role

Maintain a clean, safe, orderly work area and observe OSHA and HIPAA requirements at all times.
Be thoroughly knowledgeable of and comply with the policies and procedures of the Company.
Report any equipment and maintenance problems to the appropriate persons regarding equipment operation, malfunctions etc.
Promote a team approach and a positive image to everyone with whom contact is made.
Maintain confidentiality when dealing with patient information and company business.
OTHER FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Be familiar with the operation of the clerical and reception areas of the office and assist when needed, including the management of patient records. Actively participate in the quality assurance monitoring and recording efforts of the office.
Perform preventative/corrective maintenance as directed, and document appropriately.
Take initiative for professional advancement through personal assessment of strengths and weaknesses and develop an action plan with supervisors to improve skills.
May be assigned to perform or assist with the performance of other medical procedures as directed and qualified.
Perform other duties as assigned.
SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS:
Graduation from high school or equivalent and completion of a training program in imaging technology from an accredited school;

Perform tasks in line with federal, DHA, and Joint Commission healthcare delivery standards.
Specific Duties:
Operate ultrasound equipment and perform exams across multiple areas including:
Abdominal, pelvic, OB/GYN, vascular, breast, thyroid, testicular, and more.
Use cognitive sonography skills to identify, evaluate, and document diagnostic findings.
Independently distinguish between normal and abnormal anatomy.
Schedule, coordinate, and report on ultrasound exams.
Maintain operational logs, manage daily schedules, and support clinic efficiency.
Perform calibration and basic maintenance of ultrasound machines.
Participate in clinical documentation, mandatory training, and quality improvement.
Ensure patient safety and maintain a professional and respectful environment at all times.
Qualifications:
Degree/Education: Must provide transcript verifying Technologist education.
Certification:
Must have and maintain current ARDMS (American Registry of Diagnostic Medical Sonography) registration.
Must have Basic Life Support (BLS) certification (AHA or Red Cross).
Licensure: Must hold a valid, unrestricted Ultrasound license from any U.S. jurisdiction.
Experience:
At least 2 years of total ultrasound experience.
At least 1 year of recent (within past 2 years) clinical hospital-based hands-on experience.
Board Certification: Not required beyond ARDMS.
Additional Requirements: Competency testing upon onboarding (including OB, Doppler, extremities, etc.)
Skills and Abilities:
Proficient in conducting independent ultrasound exams across various specialties.
Strong understanding of sonographic physics and anatomy.

, you will be joining a dedicated team of professionals who deliver quality, value, and access in the 21st century and align all stakeholders- patients, providers, payors, and regulators achieve the best clinical outcomes.
You Will:
Perform high quality ultrasound procedures in strict accordance with currently approved practices as outlined in department policy and procedure manuals, complying with all applicable federal, state, local and other regulatory requirements.
Assist radiologists with ultrasound-guided biopsies and procedures if needed.
Understand the methods used to generate ultrasound data and the theory and operation of the instruments that detect, display, and store the acoustic information generated in clinical examinations.
Monitor patient's well-being during exams; recognizes patient discomfort or medical problems and takes appropriate action.
Demonstrates competency regarding the need to safeguard patient property and Patient Health Information.
Safeguards any on site medications in accordance with Company policies, procedures and any legal requirements.
Demonstrates respect for company property, including any cash and patient financial information on site or on patient portals.
Is responsive to the needs of others by exhibiting and maintaining professional behavior toward patients and coworkers.
Demonstrates respect for patient boundaries and cultural sensitivities during all interactions.

Passed SPI exam preferred
