UltrasoundTechnologists shall have in depth knowledge of ultrasound scanning and optimizing examination potential. The technologists shall collect and communicate all pertinent clinical information to the Radiologist. The technologists shall explain exams to the patients as well as proper patient preparation requirements. The technologists shall also work closely with other department technologists and continue quality improvement activities on a daily basis. Available shift schedules include days, evenings, and nights. Responsibilities
Maintains in depth knowledge of ultrasound scanning and optimizing examination potential
Collects and communicates all pertinent clinical information to the Radiologist
Explains exams to the patients as well as proper patient preparation requirements
Works closely with other department technologists and continues quality improvement activities on a daily basis
Sets up radiographic suites and ensures that sterile supplies, contrast materials, catheters, and other required equipment/supplies are present and available
Prepares and administers contrast material orally, by enema, or under close supervision of radiologists, intravenously but not independently; as required by procedure or patient's condition, monitors vital signs (blood pressure and heart rate), and reports any significant changes to a radiologist
Lifts, positions, pushes, and transfers patients, supplies, and/or equipment as needed
Performs related clerical duties such as sending images to PACS, archiving images, and case editing of computer requests and reports
As required, maintains records and enters patient information into the computer through the use of the Radiology Veterans Information Systems and Technology Architecture (VISTA) package
Qualifications
English language proficiency
Registered or registry eligible in Sonography by the American Registry for Diagnostic Medical Sonographers (ARDMS), shall have a minimum of two (2) years of work experience in the specialized modality in a Level 1 hospital setting, and shall be able to work with minimal or no supervision
Note - Student internship and training time spent in a radiology setting does not count toward the two (2) years of experience
Experience with Picture Archiving Communication System (PACS), experience with Agfa PACS is preferred but not required
American Heart Association (AHA) Basic Life Support (BLS) certification is required

This position supports the United States Department of Veterans Affairs Integrated Critical Staffing Program by providing on-site diagnostic ultrasound services to eligible Veterans Affairs beneficiaries at the San Francisco Veterans Affairs Medical Center.The Certified Sonographer / UltrasoundTechnologist is responsible for performing highly complex diagnostic ultrasound examinations under the general supervision of a Radiologist. The role requires the use of approved ultrasound imaging equipment and established Veterans Health Administration protocols to generate diagnostically valid images. The technologist plays a critical role in patient care by preparing patients for procedures, ensuring patient safety and comfort, acquiring and evaluating images for diagnostic quality, and documenting examinations in the Veterans Affairs electronic health record systems in compliance with Veterans Affairs policies, the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act, Joint Commission standards, and applicable federal regulations.
Perform diagnostic ultrasound examinations in accordance with the Veterans Affairs Performance Work Statement and Radiology Service protocols.
Operate, adjust, and optimize ultrasound equipment to obtain high-quality diagnostic images, including proper image annotation, labeling, evaluation, and completeness for timely physician interpretation.
Prepare patients for ultrasound examinations by verifying patient identity, explaining procedures, confirming preparation requirements, and ensuring patient comfort, safety, and modesty throughout the examination.
Review examination requests and relevant medical records to verify accuracy, completeness, and appropriateness of the ordered ultrasound procedure.
Provide technical observations and communicate significant findings to the supervising Radiologist during or immediately following examinations, as required.
Maintain accurate, complete, and timely documentation of ultrasound procedures, images, and technical data within the Veterans Affairs electronic health record and imaging systems, including Picture Archiving and Communication Systems.
Adhere to all infection control, patient safety, and standard precaution requirements, including proper room setup, equipment cleanliness, and supply restocking.
Perform routine operational checks of ultrasound equipment prior to patient examinations and promptly report equipment malfunctions or safety concerns to supervisory personnel.
Provide portable ultrasound services within the medical center when required by clinical operations.
Maintain strict patient confidentiality and comply with all Veterans Affairs privacy, information security, and Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act requirements.
Complete all required Veterans Affairs mandatory education, training, quality assurance activities, and performance monitoring requirements.
Comply with Veterans Affairs time, attendance, and workload reporting procedures and remain on duty until properly relieved.
Completes required organizational compliance education, including assigned requirements that are client-specified, for Joint Commission Healthcare Staffing Services certification or other regulatory bodies.

Qualifications
Basic Requirements/Certifications:
Current certification from the American Registry for Diagnostic Medical Sonography (ARDMS).

Current Basic Life Support certification from the American Heart Association.
Demonstrated proficiency in diagnostic ultrasound imaging techniques.
Experience with General Electric ultrasound equipment.
Knowledge of Philips IntelliSpace Picture Archiving and Communication System is highly desirable.
Education Required:
Associate degree or bachelor's degree from an accredited diagnostic medical sonography or ultrasound technology program.
Physical Requirements:
Work is normally performed in a typical interior/office work environment.
Work involves sitting and standing for prolonged periods of time.
May require bending, stooping and lifting up to 15 lbs.

This position supports the United States Department of Veterans Affairs Integrated Critical Staffing Program by providing on-site diagnostic ultrasound services to eligible Veterans Affairs beneficiaries at the San Francisco Veterans Affairs Medical Center.The Certified Sonographer / UltrasoundTechnologist is responsible for performing highly complex diagnostic ultrasound examinations under the general supervision of a Radiologist. The role requires the use of approved ultrasound imaging equipment and established Veterans Health Administration protocols to generate diagnostically valid images. The technologist plays a critical role in patient care by preparing patients for procedures, ensuring patient safety and comfort, acquiring and evaluating images for diagnostic quality, and documenting examinations in the Veterans Affairs electronic health record systems in compliance with Veterans Affairs policies, the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act, Joint Commission standards, and applicable federal regulations.
Perform diagnostic ultrasound examinations in accordance with the Veterans Affairs Performance Work Statement and Radiology Service protocols.
Operate, adjust, and optimize ultrasound equipment to obtain high-quality diagnostic images, including proper image annotation, labeling, evaluation, and completeness for timely physician interpretation.

Position Overview:
We're seeking a highly reliable, ultrasound technician to perform Fibroscan studies in a modern clinical setting. You'll play a key role in delivering efficient, high-quality scans that support early disease detection and patient education.

Our spacious office is located in an upscale building near El Camino Hospital in Mountain View. The office boasts, flowering trees and plants, a bright glass-rooved atrium, and a peaceful water feature near the entrance.
Requirements
Your Qualifications:
You have excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
You are able to complete a Fibroscan test in under 15 minutes, including the 5 minute patient rest period before beginning (essentially performing the test in under 10 minutes). If you have not performed a Fibroscan previously, we would train you and evaluate your efficiency as you gain experience over the first month.

Pay Scale/Ranges:
$30.00-$70.00/hour (and the hourly equivalent for salaried employees).*

You Will:
Perform high quality ultrasound procedures in strict accordance with currently approved practices as outlined in department policy and procedure manuals, complying with all applicable federal, state, local and other regulatory requirements.
Assist radiologists with ultrasound-guided biopsies and procedures if needed.
Understand the methods used to generate ultrasound data and the theory and operation of the instruments that detect, display, and store the acoustic information generated in clinical examinations.
