Job Description
Urology Specialists is looking for a qualified PRN Ultrasound Technician (US Tech) to work one day a week, with the potential to cover time off for our full-time technician. The specific day each week will be negotiated with our current full-time technician and Director of Nursing, with hours varying based on both schedules and preferences. The work schedule is Monday through Thursday from 8:00 am to 4:30 pm, and Friday from 8:00 am to 4:00 pm. There are no nights, weekends, holidays, or on-call duties required. The US Tech is responsible for producing images of designated anatomical areas as order/directed and providing clinical and technical support within their scope of practice. Our clinic focuses on transabdominal ultrasounds only. The US Tech follows all established practices and procedures. Assists with image requesting via GE and Avera PACS and reviews dosimetry reports as applicable. Works with physician and administration on special projects and other duties as needed (i.e. data collection, EMR, recognition, etc.). Perform medical ultrasonography in clinic setting and technical assistance as appropriate in the ambulatory surgical center setting.
EDUCATION: Graduate of accredited school of ultrasonography. ARDMS-RDMS American Registry for Diagnostic Medical Sonography/ Registered Diagnostic Medical Sonographer. Preferred Certification from the American Registry of Radiological Technologists (ARRT)
EXPERIENCE: Preferred, but not required. New grads encouraged to apply!

**Qualifications**

Registration in at least one of the following areas of sonography is required: Registered Diagnostic Medical Sonographer (RDMS), Registered Vascular Technologist (RVT), American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT), or registry eligible.
Registry preferred within two years after hiring.

Basic Life Support (BLS) certification within six weeks of employment and re-certification as necessary is required.

Produce two or three-dimensional ultrasonic recordings of internal organs for use by Physicians in the diagnosis of disease and study of malfunction of organs
Key test data and patient information into the computer of ultrasound equipment to maintain a record of test results
Operate the department computer system for scheduling and billing procedures
Operate PACS system to ensure all images are verified and sent
Share call responsibilities in Ultrasound
Maintain supply inventory

Job Summary
The Vascular Sonographer at Monument Health is responsible for performing ultrasound examinations on patients utilizing a variety of technical aspects. The role requires a full knowledge of vascular principles, ultrasound physics and instrumentation, and the ability to obtain diagnostic images. You will work closely with physicians and other healthcare professionals to obtain high quality images, interpret findings, and provide essential information for patient care.

Job Description
Essential Functions:
* Able to consistently determine and present high quality exams following department protocols and procedures.
* Operate and maintain ultrasound equipment as well as troubleshoot technical issues.
* Examines requisition for appropriate orders, exam date, and indication for exam.
* Acquires appropriate imaging suited towards the indication of examination.
* Explain procedures to patients and position them correctly to obtain optimal images.
* Documents appropriate preliminary results for cardiologist to interpret in EPIC.
* Demonstrates competency in imaging and transmitting vascular exams to appropriate PACs system and reading physicians.
* Meets expectations of quality requirements for the lab set by the medical imaging director.
* Attention to detail and the ability to work in a group setting with other providers.
* Adhere to safely standards and infection control measures.
* Stay current with advancements in vascular sonography through ongoing education and training. To maintain certification.
* All other duties as assigned.
Additional Requirements
Required:
Education - Associates degree in Applied Science
Certification - Registered Vascular Technologist (RVT) Certification - American Registry for Diagnostic Medical Sonography (ARDMS) - Within 6-months of hire or transfer; Basic Life Support (BLS) - American Heart Association (AHA)
Preferred:
Experience - 1+ years of Sonographer Experience
Education - Bachelors degree in Ultrasound
Physical Requirements: Heavy work - exerting up to 25 pounds of force constantly (67-100% of the time), and/or up to 50 pounds frequently (34-66% of the time), and/or up to 100 pounds of force occasionally (up to 33% of the time), and or up to 100 pounds of force seldomly to move objects. Possible exposure to radiation and frequent exposure to contaminated needles and infectious body substances. Requires the ability to work designated shift lengths (including 8 and 12 hours), which may include night shifts or occasional irregular hours.
