Responsibilities
Independently operates equipment to perform a variety of complex sonographic examinations ranging from routine to highly specialized
Reviews requisitions to assure that the patient history and anatomical area of interest is consistent with the exam(s) requested; examinations performed includes abdomen for tumors, cysts, abscesses, hematomas, inflammatory lesions, and the size and location of organs; evaluations of the abdominal aorta for aneurysm and/or dissection, and chest exams for pleural effusions will also be performed
Conducts neck, carotid artery, leg vein, and artery examinations
Also assists Radiologists during invasive procedures and performs all types of gynecological ultrasound exams
Performs quantitative Doppler measurements to determine blood flow profiles when indicated
Must have knowledge of appropriate use of color flow/power Doppler to further evaluate areas for vascular patency/pattern
Qualifications
Have a current and valid ARDMS license and required to be licensed in Abdomen or RVT.
Maintain current certification in Basic Life Support (BLS) as certified by the American Heart Association
Minimum of two years of experience in diagnostic medical sonography

Ultrasound Tech PRN Rotating Position Summary
Performs diagnostic procedures on patients using ultrasound waves to examine tissue and body structure, providing quality images to radiologists and physicians for interpretation.
Responsibilities
Sets up and adjusts all equipment and manually maneuvers transducers to perform exams.
Implements safety standards and performs appropriate quality control procedures.

THE JOB
As a Sonographer, your focus is on ultrasound support for VEG hospitals and training facilities. This means working closely with our emergency doctors to provide same-day ultrasound scans for pets when they need it most. You'll deal with a variety of patient types and scans, so being comfortable adapting to new scenarios and willing to learn new techniques and think outside the box are all part of your day-to-day. You'll also assist in coordinating education opportunities and overall ultrasound training for your home and regional hospitals, inspire and motivate your fellow VEGgies to grow their ultrasound skills, and be ready to pitch in at the hospital whenever and wherever needed.
WHAT YOU'LL DO
Perform ultrasound studies and facilitate ultrasound training at your home hospital and regional hospitals
Maintain good relationships with and accept feedback from teleconsultation radiologists reading your studies (e.g., Antech, SonoPath, IDEXX, VetsChoice, etc.)
Ensure all training content and activities are in alignment with VEG culture, mission, and vision, and represent accurate, up-to-date sonographic techniques
Track doctor and nursing team skills with a VEG Ultrasound Certificate checklist
Engage in self-reflection and program evaluation practices to modify and enhance VEG's ultrasound training programs
Regularly meet with the medical directors, nursing trainer, and director of radiology education to discuss program development, training objectives, and additional needs
Regularly meet with the hospital manager and medical director to discuss implementation of new training protocols, training schedules, hospital training needs, and team concerns
Coordinate weekly schedule to work on the floor shifts with the hospital manager and medical director and devote time to training responsibilities
May assist in developing ultrasound curriculum material, such as PowerPoints, videos, simulations, and assessments to be implemented across the doctor and nursing team training programs

POSITION SUMMARY

1. THE JOB
As a Sonographer, your focus is on ultrasound support for VEG hospitals and training facilities. This means working closely with our emergency doctors to provide same-day ultrasound scans for pets when they need it most. You'll deal with a variety of patient types and scans, so being comfortable adapting to new scenarios and willing to learn new techniques and think outside the box are all part of your day-to-day. You'll also assist in coordinating education opportunities and overall ultrasound training for your home and regional hospitals, inspire and motivate your fellow VEGgies to grow their ultrasound skills, and be ready to pitch in at the hospital whenever and wherever needed.
WHAT YOU'LL DO
Perform ultrasound studies and facilitate ultrasound training at your home hospital and regional hospitals
Maintain good relationships with and accept feedback from teleconsultation radiologists reading your studies (e.g., Antech, SonoPath, IDEXX, VetsChoice, etc.)
Ensure all training content and activities are in alignment with VEG culture, mission, and vision, and represent accurate, up-to-date sonographic techniques
Track doctor and nursing team skills with a VEG Ultrasound Certificate checklist
Engage in self-reflection and program evaluation practices to modify and enhance VEG's ultrasound training programs

As a Vascular Tech, you will be responsible for performing approximately 8 vascular scans per day including patient documentation and image archiving. You will also assist the vascular surgical clinics with patient care. Being ARDMS Certified or registered with Cardiovascular Credentialing International and experience in working with vascular surgeons is a plus. However, we will also consider new grads and general ultrasound techs as we can provide cross-training in vascular specific ultrasound exams. This is a clinic based position, but our vascular ultrasound techs cover the vascular clinics as well as the hospital.
POSITION SUMMARY
This position functions as an interdisciplinary team member in providing quality patient care and performance of non-invasive vascular studies.
CORE FUNCTIONS
1. Obtains patient histories and acquires and analyzes data obtained using ultrasound and related diagnostic technologies; provides a summary of findings to the physicians to aid in patient diagnosis and management. Assumes responsibility for the safety of patients being studied, the quality control of the examination and the accuracy of the data obtained from the study. Provides basic patient education in preparation for angiography, venography or surgery. Schedules vascular patients for invasive procedures and surgery.
2. Participates in weekly vascular surgery clinics to facilitate patients being seen, treated and admitted.
3. Performs a continual review of literature to remain current with the development of new non-invasive diagnostic tests that may be implemented in the vascular lab. Attends and participates in weekly vascular/radiology and basic science conferences.
4. Teaches techniques of non-invasive vascular diagnosis to medical students, house staff, community based physicians, and other vascular diagnostic trainees; the Vascular Technologist may provide training to other Vascular Technologists.
5. Assists those involved in vascular related research studies.
6. Helps maintain QA, statistics and standards in accordance with the ICAVL regulations that ensure the vascular labs national accreditation.
7. Assists with inventory and supply ordering and the operation and maintenance of laboratory equipment. Helps run remote vascular lab sites.
8. Works independently to provide excellent patient care. Internal customers include patients, staff, and physicians. External customers may include patient family.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Successful completion the National Registered Vascular Technologist Certification Examination,
Requires two years full time experience working in a non-invasive vascular lab and competent skills in both performing the studies and interpretation of the results are required. The knowledge and skills necessary for these positions include a working knowledge of the principles and techniques of vascular technology and a working knowledge of the equipment used, its operation and the daily care and periodic maintenance required. The ability to function as an interdisciplinary team member in a vascular lab setting, good communication and interpersonal skills and the ability to set priorities, exercise sound judgment and to work independently are also required.
