The Pharmacy Technician Supervisor is a member of the pharmacy leadership team and is responsible for supervising the pharmacy technician workforce. This includes oversight of the pharmacy operations in collaboration with the pharmacy management team. Understands and is proficient in the pharmacy technician functions performed by the pharmacy technicians and the pharmacy medication delivery system.
Major Responsibilities:
The Pharmacy Technician Supervisor will actively monitor and, when appropriate, implement improvements with staff performance and operational workflow. The Pharmacy Technician Supervisor is expected to hold staff accountable for performance and behavior and will demonstrate a standard for excellence in culture for the pharmacy team.
Schedule's pharmacy technicians and pharmacy interns in a minimum of 4 week increments and maintains records of weekly attendance. Coordinates staffing in assigned areas to maximize efficient workflow.
Assigns and prioritizes routine workload for pharmacy technicians and pharmacy interns in assigned areas.
Coordinates the orientation and training of all new pharmacy technicians and pharmacy interns.
Develops training modules/manual that reflect current practice for technical staff to ensure compliance with acceptable standards.
Develops and maintains current policy and procedures for pharmacy technical staff and monitors compliance.
Develops and updates standards of technical practice with medication technologies to be incorporated into performance criteria for support personnel.
Completes performance reviews for pharmacy technicians and pharmacy interns.
Collects and maintains workload activity records, quality control records, quality assurance records and patient charge information for monthly report.
Assists in conversion and implementation of new pharmacy systems and expansion of services.
Works with the pharmacy management team to develops and recommend budgetary needs for the areas managed. Manages activities to assure financial goals are met.

Makes recommendations on employee hires, transfers, promotions, salary changes, discipline, terminations, and similar actions. Resolves grievances and other personnel problems within position responsibilities.
Coordinates the assignment of tasks and helps resolve technical and operational problems. Evaluates the impact of solutions to ensure goals are achieved.
Provides effective direction, guidance, and leadership over the staff for effective teamwork and motivation and fosters the effective integration of efforts with system-wide initiatives.

Develops and maintains established departmental policies, procedures, and objectives.
Ensures compliance to all health and safety regulations and requirements.

The Pharmacy Technician Supervisor - Sterile Compounding is responsible for the daily supervision of pharmacy technicians involved in sterile product preparation, ensuring full compliance with all applicable regulations and standards. This role involves direct oversight of compounding activities, personnel competency, environmental monitoring, and facility maintenance related to sterile compounding cleanrooms. The ideal candidate will have deep knowledge of USP standards, state board of pharmacy regulations, and experience with quality assurance in sterile environments.
Key Responsibilities:
Personnel Management:
Supervise and coordinate activities of sterile compounding pharmacy technicians.
Conduct performance evaluations and competency assessments for IV compounding staff.
Oversee onboarding, training, and ongoing education of sterile compounding personnel.
Sterile Compounding Oversight:
Ensure compounding processes meet all USP standards and regulatory requirements.
Monitor aseptic technique and enforce compliance with gowning and hygiene protocols.
Oversee cleaning procedures and adherence to environmental controls.
Facility and Environmental Monitoring:
Monitor cleanroom parameters including temperature, humidity, differential pressures, and HEPA filtration.
Coordinate environmental testing.
Review environmental monitoring results and implement corrective actions as needed.
Regulatory Compliance & Policy Development:
Develop, maintain, and enforce standard operating procedures (SOPs) and policies for sterile compounding.
Prepare for and participate in regulatory inspections and internal audits.
Maintain documentation and logs required for compliance with USP , state board of pharmacy, and other applicable standards.
Quality Assurance:
Ensure compounding records, labels, and documentation are accurate and complete.
Investigate deviations or errors and implement corrective/preventative actions.

Required:
Minimum of 5 years of experience working in a cleanroom environment performing sterile compounding.
In-depth knowledge and practical experience with USP requirements and state Board of Pharmacy regulations.
Demonstrated leadership and supervisory skills.
Strong organizational, communication, and analytical skills.
Preferred:
National certification as a Compounded Sterile Preparation Technician (CSPT) through PTCB or equivalent.
Previous experience overseeing environmental monitoring programs and technician training programs.

Job Summary
Under the direction of a staff pharmacist and/or pharmacy leadership team, follow established policies and procedures to perform a variety of highly advanced technical and clerical support tasks that are vital to the operation of the pharmacy department. Tasks include responsibilities of technical training, compliance, and participation in departmental projects and initiatives. This requires successful experience and documented performance in focused key activities.
These tasks are designed to support the department in the preparation and delivery of pharmaceutical supplies and medications in accordance with the laws and regulations of the Massachusetts Board of Registration in Pharmacy, Massachusetts Department of Public Health, and other regulatory agencies as applicable. Most tasks require the review and authorization of a licensed pharmacist.
Medication reconciliation during transitions of care from the community to hospital setting is essential for patient safety and to optimize inpatient care. This process begins with a thorough history of all regular medication use prior to admission (prescribed and non-prescribed), using several different information sources. The medication history pharmacy technician, under the supervision of the medication history pharmacist, will systematically interview the patient, family, and/or caregiver to obtain a complete list of home medications. This medication list will then be confirmed with a second source that may include a pharmacy, mail order, or nursing facility documentation. Following completion, the pharmacy technician will document findings in the medical record and communicate pertinent medication information with the medical team, nursing staff and pharmacy staff.
There is opportunity for an 8 on-6 off schedule (10 hour shifts) or for a regular 5-day schedule (8 hour shifts).

Responsibilities
Pharmacy Technician Duties:
* Practices as a pharmacy technician in accordance with all federal, state, DFCI and Joint Commission policies, regulations and standards.
* Fills medication orders according to policy, while gaining proficiency with advanced preparations.
* Ensures timely delivery of medication orders and/or supplies.
* Utilizes multiple systems such as EHR (Electronic Health Record, Inventory Management Systems and other systems to complete and document duties. Identify issues and report as necessary.
* Maintains the Pharmacy inventory: sorting, stocking, rotation of stock and expiration date checking.
* Performs and documents quality control steps as required for safety and regulatory requirements.
* Performs cleaning of sterile and non-sterile areas of the pharmacy as assigned.
* Trains other employees as assigned.
* Communicates and escalates issues or problems.
* May be assigned to cross-cover other locations or areas (e.g. materials management, outpatient, infusion, etc.).
* Performs other duties as assigned.
Infusion Technician Duties:
* Performs sterile and non-sterile compounding of predominately hazardous drugs in compliance with USP , USP , USP , DFCI policies and procedures and, when applicable research protocols.
* Ensures compliance with requirements of medications within Research Protocols as assigned.
* Maintains and supports Automated Dispensing cabinets including Federal controlled substance retrieving from Return drawer once certified.
* Stocking emergency medication as appropriate by site.
* Sets up and logs pharmacy batch compound products.
Site-Specific Infusion Technician Duties May Include:
* Provides ADS downtime support. Applicable to Chestnut Hill, Satellites and Pediatric.
* Performs essential pharmacy inventory functions (e.g. ordering and receiving). Applicable to Chestnut Hill, Satellites and Pediatric.
Qualifications
Minimum Education: High School graduate or currently enrolled in an accredited entry-level degree program for Pharmacy or a related field.
Minimum Experience: 2 years of pharmacy technician experience, with at least 1 year of experience of compounding experience.
License/Certification/Registration:Massachusetts Board of Pharmacy Registration as a Pharmacy Technician required. National Pharmacy Technician Certification (PTCB) must be obtained within 1 year of hire date. For pharmacy technicians at our Londonderry or Merrimack Valley satellite locations, New Hampshire Board of Pharmacy Registration as a Pharmacy Technician required.

Job Summary
General Summary / Overview Statement Reporting directly to the Director of Procedural Services (Infusion and Dialysis), this position will serve as the lead pharmacy tech, in partnership with the senior pharmacist, supporting specialty departments, and therefore will develop expertise in those specific treatment areas. Former expertise in specific treatment area not required upon hire. This role will work closely with the ordering providers and Infusion Team at Brigham and Women's Hospital (BWH) and Brigham and Women's Faulkner Hospital (BWFH) for patients receiving infusion at both locations, in addition to patients utilizing home infusions. This role will be a combination of direct patient care and education in addition to administrative responsibilities regarding infusion starts, renewals, co-pay assistance and home infusion orders. Principal Duties and Responsibilities 1. Review infusion orders and therapy plans to ensure all drugs are appropriately indicated, effective, safe, and convenient for the patient. o Ensure appropriate infusion referrals have been placed. o Ensure co-pay assistance programs have been applied for, as needed. 2. Works closely with MD's and APP's regarding appropriateness of home infusion versus facility infusions. o Helps facilitate home infusion order sets. 3. Works with the senior pharmacist and scheduling staff to ensure timely scheduling of infusion appointments. 4. Begin white bag process for patient medications when applicable. 5. Receives, reviews, and facilitates requests for medication renewal. Reviews the requests according to guidelines. Pends the requests in the electronic medical record (Epic) and routes to prescriber for review and signature. 6. When electronic prescribing is not available, acts as an agent of the provider to transmit prescription information to pharmacies by phone, fax, or paper. 7. Prior Authorizations will be obtained by the Prior Authorization team, the pharmacy tech will coordinate with the senior pharmacist and PA team regarding denials as needed. 8. Appropriate tracking of patients requiring infusion therapy to ensure timely PA renewals and any change to therapy. 9. Support the infusion service to educate patients and ensure that the patient understands the specific goals of therapy and that the patient and providers are working to achieve these goals. 10. Support the infusion service to educate ordering providers on how to submit infusion orders and/or therapy plans appropriately. 11. Perform electronic medical record review to ensure appropriate histories are obtained along with other patient data in the pharmaceutical care evaluation to minimize denials. 12. Provide counseling and answer questions from patients, family, and health care professionals concerning drug therapy. 13. Participate with physician, nursing, and administrative leadership to evaluate and analyze patient outcomes from a pharmacy perspective. 14. Maintain proficiency by reviewing literature, attending in-services, seminars, and conferences. 15. Actively participate in departmental and infusion based clinical meetings as requested. 16. Provide cross-coverage for other departmental Infusion pharmacy techs as needed. 17. Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications 1. High School Diploma or equivalent. 2. Must be at least 18 years of age. 3. Successful completion of an accredited or Board-certified Pharmacy Technician training program, or equivalent institutional/retail pharmacy or medical office experience is highly desirable. 4. One-year experience in a medical setting is required. Prior pharmacy experience desirable. 5. Knowledge of payer policies preferred. 6. Excellent verbal and written skills. 7. Job Summary
The MGH Pharmacy Receiving team oversees and participates in the successful intake of pharmaceutical items for the entire department and various outpatient clinics. Leveraging inventory technologies, team members work to accurately receive, stock, and distribute medications throughout the institution. Receiving staff operate within the MGH Pharmacy Supply Chain team, collaborating with healthcare personnel and vendors to ensure the highest quality of inventory management is delivered. Hours of operation are typically daytime weekdays with occasional Saturdays. Skills required for candidates include high attention to detail, the ability to lift and move heavy objects (between 25-50 pounds), ability to work independently, strong oral communication, and basic office place applications (e.g., Microsoft Word, Outlook etc.).
Under the direction of a staff pharmacist and/or pharmacy leadership team, follow established policies and procedures to perform a variety of routine support tasks that are integral to the operation of the pharmacy department. Tasks include, but are not limited to, preparation and distribution of unit dose medications, outpatient prescriptions, stock orders while maintaining the safe handling and integrity of medications. Tasks may also include responsibilities of technical training and participation in departmental projects. Under the direct supervision of a pharmacist, performs hazardous and nonhazardous sterile compounding, nonsterile compounding, delivers medications, and is responsible for refilling and loading of medications into automated dispensing machines (ADMs). Performs other medication related tasks such as packaging, preparation of oral and IV medications, record keeping, and all aspects of their distribution. Assists in the transportation and handling of controlled substances and all required documentation as related to their delivery.
Maintains 50 % of time performing sterile compounding activities and/or specialized tasks, including addressing MAR messages, code cart management, controlled substance receiving/reconciliation and medication ordering.
Major Responsibilities:
Prepares intravenous (IV) drugs using aseptic technique in compounding parenteral nutrition, antibiotics, chemotherapy and other IV drugs.
Maintains required documentation in accordance with regulatory and hospital requirements and maintains respect for patient confidentiality. Generates necessary pharmacy reports.
Performs all major responsibilities of an Inpatient Pharmacy Technician I.
Complies with all state and federal standards for compounding medications.
Prepare sterile parenteral products from a patient order including additive, volume and concentration. Prepares adult, pediatric, neonatal parenteral nutrition.
Prepare batch preparations of sterile compounded products for high use items.
Maintain inventory and supplies needed for sterile compounding and order supplies for IV area.
Maintain standards for certification in aseptic technique.
Proficient with all pharmacy technology and equipment and proper use of all compounding systems.
Document compounded products using appropriate technology (Simplify, Epic, IMS, etc)
Support training new technicians in sterile compounding and other specialized tasks.
Monthly air and surface sampling, as appropriate.
Demonstrates appropriate behavior in ISO classified environments (handwashing, garbing, aseptic technique).
Temperature/humidity monitoring (room air, refrigerators, freezers, incubators) and associated documentation.
Pressure monitoring and documentation.
Proper use and maintenance of Primary Engineering Controls.
Perform inspections of area and removes outdated medications and supplies.
Assists with yearly inventory in assigned areas.
