Under limited supervision, the SecurityOfficer provides security and protection of work site(s), personnel and assets at the assigned job site. Enforces safety measures, performs regular patrols of assigned premises, and responds to incidents based on established operational procedures. REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
* Minimum 18 years of age

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

SUMMARY: The primary purpose of the Corrections Officer position is to guard, observe and transport inmates.
Officer enforces the rules and policies of the facility and ensures that the safety and welfare of inmates and staff are safeguarded.
This position requires completion of field training including closely supervised performance of corrections officer duties.
The employee is required to be on duty before, during, and after natural disasters and emergencies, as directed by the supervisor.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
May, under close supervision, perform Corrections Officer duties, including:
Booking, classifying, observing, transferring, transporting and releasing inmates with attention to the health, safety and security of other officers, inmates and the public.
Conducts inspections, shakedowns, inmate searches and makes key checks.
Conducts head counts of inmates.
Completes, checks and processes official papers and documents.
Intervenes and resolves crisis situations such as fights, fires and medical emergencies.
Restrains combative inmates.
Serves or supervises the serving of meals to inmates.
Supervises inmates while they are performing their cleaning duties.
Provides informal counseling to inmates.
Conducts safety inspections and inspections of fire exits.
Assists with the personal needs of inmates, such as telephone calls, mail, laundry, visits and commissary.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES: Does not supervise any employees directly.
However, is involved in the direct supervision of all activities of inmates in the housing.
Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws.

Base pay in range will be determined by applicant's skills and experience. Role is also eligible for team based bonus opportunities. Temporary associates are not benefits eligible but may participate in the company's 401(k) program.

Responsibilities
Responsible for maintaining a secure environment for all residents and associates within the building and on the community grounds. Greets visitors, monitors the inside and outside of the building, and responds to emergencies.
Greets and monitors visitors and residents coming and going from the building. Logs all residents and visitors in and out.
Monitors the inside and outside of the building and the parking lot; reports any abnormal findings to the Executive Director or to the proper authorities as the situation dictates.
Locks doors at designated time, according to community protocol. Checks the security of all doors regularly throughout the night.
Maintains familiarity with and monitors all emergency and safety equipment including security cameras, phones, and life safety systems.
Responds appropriately to emergencies by calling or contacting appropriate internal and external parties, according to established protocol. Assists with disaster management efforts and activities during evacuations (i.e. fires, hurricanes, etc.).
Answers the phone promptly. Responds to questions, directs calls, or takes messages as appropriate.
Escorts residents and visitors to the parking lot during evening hours, as requested.
May be required to handle leasing inquiries after hours and on weekends, making sure that accurate and timely information is provided to the Director of Sales & Marketing.
Drives the bus or community vehicle as needed or as scheduled.
Handles minor maintenance emergencies (i.e. plugged toilets, reset breakers, replace light bulbs, etc.) as needed.
Ensures the lobby and administrative offices are vacuumed, and kept clean and neat. Notifies housekeeping if cleaning is needed.
Interacts with residents and guests in a friendly and courteous manner, providing assistance and directions as requested.

Education and Experience

Essential Job Functions:

Investigate & Report: Conduct preliminary investigations, gather evidence, interview witnesses, and prepare reports.
Community Engagement: Build relationships with residents, businesses, and community organizations to foster trust and collaboration.
Emergency Response: Respond swiftly to critical incidents, provide backup to fellow officers, and assist other emergency services.
Judicial & Administrative Duties: Testify in court, prepare warrants, serve subpoenas, and assist with municipal court operations when needed.

Must meet all licensing requirements set forth by the Texas Commission on Law Enforcement (TCOLE).
Military applicants must have an honorable discharge (if applicable).
Strong moral character and clean background required.
