The Campus Safety Officer serves as the first point of contact for community members and visitors accessing Goucher's campus. The Campus Safety Officer is responsible for maintaining safety and security on Goucher's campus, primarily through access control. Employees will be assigned to evening, night, or rotating shifts, including holidays and weekends. They may also be called in for overtime as needed. Officers must be prepared to work outdoors in all weather conditions and be available for duty at all hours to ensure the continuous operation of the agency. Additional responsibilities include managing security at high-profile and campus-wide events, ensuring attendee safety, coordinating with event staff, and monitoring activities. Officers may also be tasked with building watch, overseeing access control, crowd management, and addressing security concerns during events. Essential Job Functions: * 30 % A. Greet and assist guests and visitors entering the campus, providing friendly and informative assistance. Monitor and enforce access control procedures to ensure only authorized personnel and visitors enter the premises. At specified times, log all visitors entering and leaving the campus, accurately recording necessary details. * 30 % B. Maintain a vigilant presence, continuously observing surroundings and promptly addressing any security concerns or breaches. Monitor CCTV systems to oversee campus activities, traffic and identify any suspicious behavior or incidents. * 15 % C. Communicate effectively via radio with security team members and relevant personnel to coordinate responses and share information. Communicate and maintain good relationships with faculty, staff, students, other law enforcement agencies and public officials. * 10 % D. Check emails and other communication channels regularly to stay updated on campus events, security alerts, and operational changes. * 5 % E. Prepare and submit detailed reports on incidents, property damage and any security-related matters as required. * 5% F. Support student worker program by training and working alongside individuals for events and activities. Job Summary The Department of Community Corrections is currently seeking qualified applicants for a full-time Pretrial Officer position. The Officer will be responsible for supervising a caseload of defendants referred to the Pretrial Division of the Department of Community Corrections for pretrial supervision by the Courts or the Office of the Loudoun County Magistrate, according to DCJS standards. This position requires regularly attending Court proceedings, maintaining accurate automated case log notes and records, performing drug/alcohol testing, completing risk assessments, making/presenting recommendations to the Court for bond release, interviewing recently arrested individuals in custody, conducting criminal background checks and pretrial investigations. Minimum Qualifications Bachelor's degree in Criminal Justice, Sociology, Psychology, or related field; two (2) years of criminal justice or counseling work experience in a criminal justice, jail, or corrections setting; or equivalent combination of education and experience. Preferred Qualifications: Spanish proficiency. Experience working with criminal justice-involved individuals and/or strong background/knowledge/education in substance abuse, addiction, mental health, domestic violence, and appropriate services/ treatments. Job Contingencies and Special Requirements Successful candidate must undergo and complete a criminal background check. Annual DMV record check will be required. Selected candidate will obtain required VCIN certification within 90 days of hire. Must be willing to supervise criminal defendants and perform occasional residential visits, some of whom may have an arrest history of violent crime. Collecting samples for urinalysis and administration of alcohol breath tests. Must have strong writing skills and be able to compile facts and information into concise reports for submission to the Court. Must have strong communication skills to interact professionally and build relationships with representatives from the legal community such as Commonwealth's Attorneys, Police Officers, Defense Attorneys, Judges, and Court personnel. Must be able to work as part of a team within the Pretrial Division and with the entire Community Corrections Department.
