Compensation:
This position is a full-time, non-exempt position, eligible for the regular union benefits package. The starting wage is $25.11 per hour during the nine (9) month probationary period. After successful completion of probation, the wage is increased to $27.86 per hour with a percentage wage increases every nine (9) months thereafter until reaching the current top wage of $35.87 per hour. The work schedule for this position is determined by a seniority bid system and varies (days, nights, weekends). * Patrol parking lots, buildings, and grounds; report criminal activities as observed to campus law enforcement personnel for investigation. Provide building access.

The work schedule for this position is determined by a seniority bid system and varies (days, nights, weekends). POSITION OVERVIEW: The Public Safety Officer ensures the safety of patients, caregivers, and visitors of St. Charles Health System. This position ensures the safety and security of all property, including buildings, equipment, and assets on St. Charles Health System property. Incumbent shall maintain broad availability to work hours across all shifts and times to backfill and/or supplement uniform operations as deemed necessary by the Director - Campus Safety (i.e., athletic/special events, vacancies, vacations, sick time, etc.). This position requires that the incumbent shall be consistently responsive to all work requests some of which may be communicated with minimal or no advanced notice.
Minimum Requirements

Additional Requirements
* High school diploma or successful completion of GED program.
* One year of security or law enforcement experience.
* Knowledge of Microsoft Office suite.
* Strong written and verbal communication skills.
* Possession of or the ability to obtain a valid Oregon driver's license.
* Possession of or the ability to obtain CPR, First Aid, and AED certifications within two months of hire.
* Submit to and successfully clear pre-employment psychological evaluation
* Submit to and successfully clear background check through Oregon Tech Human Resources
* Successful completion of Campus Safety Officer field training program within two months of hire.
Preferred Qualifications
* Associate's degree or higher in Criminal Justice.
* Experience and certifications in FEMA courses specifically centered in Incident Command/NIMS and/or Emergency Management.
* Public safety/security experience on a university or community college environment.
* Taser certified.

Required Skills/Abilities:
Current Oregon State Unarmed Security Guard License
2-4 years of combined experience (Military, Law Enforcement, and/or Security) preferred
Must have a valid driver's license and clean driving record
Must have a clean criminal record

Smart phone to access the apps we use for scheduling, clocking in/out, and reporting
Availability to work day-shifts, swing-shifts, graveyard shifts, weekends.
