Summary:
Organizes and supervises tray line and dish room operations and personnel.
Responsibilities:
1. Participates in selected administrative operations relevant to assigned activities, under the direction of the supervisor or manager to include, but not limited to: Reviews and make recommendations for new/revised procedures and methods; Evaluates new products, services and equipment; Oversees quality assurance activities pertaining to assigned activities.
2. Orients, trains and oversees assigned personnel, under the direction of the supervisor or manager to include, but not limited to: May interview applicants and make hiring recommendations, if requested; Orients and trains assigned employees to the specifics of their jobs; Approves meal and rest periods, as warranted; Assigns and checks work results for quality, accuracy and timeliness; -Investigates and takes action to resolve any problems with work results; Counsels employees with performance or behavioral problems, if requested by and approved by the supervisor.
3. Performs a variety of set up and organizational tasks for the department to include, but not limited to: Unlocks elevator doors; Posts production charts; Replenishes the coffee machine and fill up cart; Makes sure steam table is filled with water and is hot; Pulls the food rack for the next day; Orders supplies from the storeroom; Puts supplies on the racks; Stocks shelves with paper and plastic supplies; Delivers food supplies to CSS for patients at night; Close and lock all doors at specified times.
4. Organizes and supervises patient tray assembly, delivery and pick up.
5. Organizes and supervises dish room and cleaning activities to include, but not limited to: Also checks temperature of the dish machine; Also scrapes the food carts; Also dries trays and bags silverware.
6. Communicates and collaborates with departmental personnel, patients and nursing personnel.
7. Uses, and enforces the use of, safety/sanitation procedures to protect self and others.
8. Acquires age-specific knowledge necessary to provide appropriate service and communication.
9. Performs miscellaneous duties, as needed.
Other information:
Education Requirements:
- High school graduate or GED.
Licensure/Certification Requirements:
- Food Handlers Certificate within 6 months of hire.
- Certified Dietary Manager.
Professional Experience Requirements:
- 2 years' Dietary experience in Healthcare.
- Supervisory training/course work is preferred.

Qualifications
Associate's degree or higher in foodservice management or hospitality, including foodservice or restaurant management coursework preferred.
Two years of experience in quantity food production/service and personnel supervision preferred.
Certified Dietary Manager (CDM) certification preferred (or as required by state and county law).
Must obtain Food Protection Manager (FPM) within the first 14 days of employment
Must obtain FoodService Manager (FSM) and Long-Term Care FoodService (LTC-FSM) certifications within the first 60 days of employment.
Strong written and verbal communication skills.
Maintain a positive attitude and effectively communicate with building occupants, administration, and HCSG leadership to perform daily tasks.

Responsibilities
The Department Manager oversees the foodservice program at a single site, ensuring high food quality standards, inventory management, food safety, and customer service. This role requires adherence to facility menus, federal, state, and local regulations, and HCSG policies to consistently provide quality dining services.
Lead and support the foodservice team to meet quality and safety standards.
Maintain accurate records of income, expenditures, food supplies, personnel, and equipment while using HCSG computer software..
Conduct staff training, quality control, and in-service sessions; perform roles of dietary aide, cook, and dishwasher as needed.
Communicate directives from client managers, building occupants, and administrators to HCSG staff effectively.
Use protective gear, ensure safe mixing and use of cleaning solutions, and report equipment needs or malfunctions promptly.
Follow infection control, universal precautions, and handwashing procedures to maintain a sanitary environment.
Maintain consistent attendance, punctuality, and timely completion of tasks.
Represent HCSG positively through courteous and cooperative interactions with supervisors, co-workers, client staff, residents, and guests.
All other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
Associate's degree or higher in foodservice management or hospitality, including foodservice or restaurant management coursework preferred.
Two years of experience in quantity food production/service and personnel supervision preferred.
Certified Dietary Manager (CDM) certification preferred (or as required by state and county law).
Must obtain Food Protection Manager (FPM) within the first 14 days of employment
Must obtain FoodService Manager (FSM) and Long-Term Care FoodService (LTC-FSM) certifications within the first 60 days of employment.
Strong written and verbal communication skills.
Maintain a positive attitude and effectively communicate with building occupants, administration, and HCSG leadership to perform daily tasks.
Compliance with COVID-19 vaccination policies
Must be able to lift/carry a maximum of 50 pounds, push/pull a maximum of 50 pounds, stand, sit, bend and walk for extended periods.
Must be able to perform routine, repetitive tasks continuously.
Must be able to work around food and cleaning products.
Basic computer skills with the ability to maintain records and complete reports as required, including web-based reporting.
May be required to complete an approved sanitation and safety course.
