The Director is responsible for overall, portfolio-level program and operations management of programs and initiatives, including project and program selection and prioritization, assessing performance, evaluating results, and driving improvement.
The MEdIC AD will provide the strategic skillset and operational support to 1) provide executive-level oversight of operations, budgets, and personnel; 2) manage contracts, interagency agreements, and compliance frameworks; 3) lead strategic planning and performance measurement; 3) build and supervise the expanding administrative team; and 4) liaise with military and governmental agencies.
**Responsibilities:**
1. Leadership - Directs operations, develops goals and objectives, monitors results, administers and improves policies, procedures and processes. Coaches clinicians, teammates, and interprofessional teams in clinical improvement, data analysis and reporting, physician mentorship, executive sponsorship, and academic scholarship. Recruits, hires, develops, trains and evaluates Institute staff for maximum performance.
2. Strategic Planning, Program Design, Evaluation & Improvement - Aligns MEDIC strategy with UNC Health and SOM objectives. Participates in strategy development. Leads efforts to execute strategy. Manages program design, implementation and operations. Monitors Institute results and drives improvement.
3. Financial Planning & Performance - Develops operating budget and capital requests. Monitors financial performance and adjusts resources to maximize effectiveness while maintaining exceptional quality and service. Oversees project budgets and implements projects in accordance with established project plan.
4. Communication - Establishes a shared vision with MEDIC leaders and team members. Communicates expectations and responsibilities to MEDIC team members. Meets regularly with UNC Health and SOM leaders to apprise them of programmatic activities and performance. Actively listens and addresses issues and concerns promptly. Leads external communication about MEDIC programs.

Medical Director, Pediatric Non-Invasive Cardiovascular Imaging (MD/DO)

The Division of Pediatric Cardiology at Inova LJ Murphy Children's Hospital is seeking a full-time Pediatric Cardiologist to serve as MedicalDirector of Non-Invasive Cardiovascular Imaging to support our rapidly growing team within Inova Children's Heart Center.
The Heart Center at Inova LJ Murphy Children's Hospital has been caring for the children of Northern Virginia and the Greater Washington Region for more than 30 years. Each year, the program is responsible for approximately 550 procedures. The program provides surgical repair of the most complex congenital heart defects, including hypoplastic left heart syndrome. In addition to providing care for children with complex congenital anomalies, the program provides a lifetime of care as part of the Inova Schar Heart and Vascular, which includes the Adult Congenital Program. Inova Children's Heart Center is a comprehensive team, including congenital cardiac surgery, outpatient cardiology, fetal cardiology, non-invasive cardiology, adult congenital cardiology, diagnostic and interventional catheterization, and electrophysiology and advanced heart failure therapies. The team includes 23 board-certified pediatric cardiologists, 8 pediatric cardiac intensivists, 3 pediatric cardiac surgeons and 17 advanced practice providers. With respect to non-invasive imaging, the division currently performs fetal, transthoracic, and transesophageal echocardiography, and partners with radiology on cMRI and CT scans. A team of inpatient and outpatient dedicated congenital sonographers support the division. The Pediatric Noninvasive Imaging Lab (ICAEL accredited) at Inova Children's Hospital is the largest program in Virginia performing 11,000 outpatient and 2,600 inpatient echocardiograms per year.
Inova LJ Murphy Children's Hospital is a 226-bed children's hospital at Inova Fairfax Hospital medical campus, located in Northern Virginia. Support and mentor junior and mid-career pediatric cardiology echo attendings within the Pediatric Heart Center.
Support and mentor ultrasound technicians within the Pediatric Heart Center.
The candidate should have advanced training in non-invasive imaging while possessing professional, clinical, and leadership skills.

All payer relationships that require contracting across our system are in the scope of responsibility for the position. Key areas of focus include assessment, negotiation, implementation, and management of: commercial fee-for-service and value-based managed care payer contracts; Medicare Advantage and Managed Medicaid managed care fee-for-service and value-based payer contracts; narrow network public and private exchange payer contracts; military (Tricare, VA) contracts; direct to employer contracts, specialty (such as transplant) and carve-out payer (such as behavioral health and vision) contracts, single case agreements, center of excellence designation programs, and other partnership opportunities with payers as required. The HCS Director of Managed Care Contracting will optimize the organization's contract performance with its contracted payers to maximize the organization's financial viability while also advancing the system's population health and value-based payment model strategies. Responsibilities:
1. Strategic - The HCS Director of Managed Care Contracting is a key part of the executive team that leads the development and implementation of system-wide Managed Care strategy. Leverages advanced analytics and AI-driven tools to enhance contract negotiations and modeling, predict negotiation outcomes, and assess policy impacts, ensuring data-informed strategies that optimize financial and operational performance. This requires working closely with senior leadership (primarily system level and entity specific CFOs, CEOs, and physician executives) at all entities while fostering effective working relationships with payers, employer groups, associations, and other internal and external stakeholders with the goal of working in alignment to generate industry leading outcomes. Engages in all aspects of contract negotiation and analysis pertaining to external payers (national/regional insurance carriers) on behalf of UNC Health's owned and managed hospitals, professional groups, and ancillary business units including joint ventures such as ambulatory surgery centers. Responsibilities:
1. Strategic - The HCS Director of Managed Care Contracting is a key part of the executive team that leads the development and implementation of system-wide Managed Care strategy. Leverages advanced analytics and AI-driven tools to enhance contract negotiations and modeling, predict negotiation outcomes, and assess policy impacts, ensuring data-informed strategies that optimize financial and operational performance. This requires working closely with senior leadership (primarily system level and entity specific CFOs, CEOs, and physician executives) at all entities while fostering effective working relationships with payers, employer groups, associations, and other internal and external stakeholders with the goal of working in alignment to generate industry leading outcomes. Engages in all aspects of contract negotiation and analysis pertaining to external payers (national/regional insurance carriers) on behalf of UNC Health's owned and managed hospitals, professional groups, and ancillary business units including joint ventures such as ambulatory surgery centers. This work includes helping to develop and overseeing monthly, quarterly, and annual management processes including but not limited to business reviews and strategy processes for Managed Care. This position will utilize AI-enabled platforms to centralize payer-provider agreements, automate extraction of key contract data, benchmark rates, and model financial impacts, while ensuring compliance with federal pricing transparency requirements and improving workflow efficiency. Managed Care related operational responsibilities include assurances that contractual rate increases happen on time and accurately for all entities, input and understanding of financial modeling for contract negotiations, creation and dissemination of payer performance data, support maintenance of contract builds in Epic, and negotiations including new agreements and amendments. The position would lead in the identification, analysis/quantification, and opposition to material adverse payer policy changes that cause negative impacts on UNC Health financial and operational outcomes.
