Responsible for facilitating positive member experiences by providing high-quality service across multiple communication channels, including phone and email. This position applies developing knowledge of personal lines insurance to assist members with quotes, binding new business, policy servicing, billing, payments, underwriting activities, and coverage-related inquiries.

The E&S Underwriter is a key member of the Underwriting team that is building out PURE Programs, LLC, a Managing General Underwriter, that is specifically designed for successful individuals and families with unique exposures that require an Excess & Surplus (E&S) solution and is a wholly-owned subsidiary of Privilege Underwriters, Inc., both members of the PURE Group of Insurance Companies.
What you'll do.
Broker Partnership - Development, maintenance and management of broker partnerships; development of strategies and goals for brokers and tracking of progress; and positioning the program within an agency, including:
Delivering exceptional, timely, complete and accurate service to brokers.
Developing trusted, respected and lasting relationships with broker partners.
Sharing knowledge and best practices with brokers, crafting the best solutions for their clients.
Underwriting empathetically at all times.
Underwriting Execution - Responsible for new business underwriting execution, including selecting and pricing risks in line with PUI's strategy and underwriting guidelines, operating within authority and documentation guidelines and following up on accounts and closing new business.
Franchise Management - Maintain a command of assigned book of business, brokers and the market. Set goals and key priorities to maximize the value of their franchise and track and report on performance to plan.
Business Management - Develop and maintain a clear view of market conditions and competitive landscape and our value proposition. Contribute ideas and perspective to the team as we learn, improve and drive toward our objectives.
What we're looking for.
Prefer 3+ years underwriting experience, with a preference for any of the following: (1) High net worth personal lines underwriting experience; (2) Excess and surplus lines property underwriting experience; and/or (3) underwriting experience in a managing general agency (MGA) operation.
Sound, balanced and timely decision making skills.

Serves as first level of contact for agent inquiries, contract questions, pricing questions, system training needs, and post bind service requests within designated authority.
Researches and gathers appropriate information and responds to those inquiries within established Service Level Agreements (SLA's). Communicates directly with agents both verbally (phone) and/or in writing (email) as required.
When outside of designated authority or expertise, forwards to respective business team with supporting research and documentation.
When within designated authority; evaluates, accepts, rejects, or modifies risks within established underwriting guidelines, authority, and compliance regulations. Complies with corporate standards, procedures, business strategies and rating plans.
Assumes ownership of agent inquiries through to resolution, including those inquiries that are handled in areas outside of Digital Concierge to ensure agent receives a response and is satisfied.
Ability to sell and negotiate to achieve profitability for the Company.
Assists with all transaction types including, but not limited to: new business, renewals, endorsements, referrals, BORs, rewrites, and cancellations as assigned.
Utilizes Small Commercial Inventory Management systems, MS Dynamics, and UW Services mailboxes, along with additional technologies, to manage daily workload to meet Service Level Agreements with underwriters and agents.
Builds and maintains a result-oriented relationship with the agents and underwriters to drive overall results including profitability, growth, and retention.
Knowledge and understanding of Commercial Property and Casualty insurance principles and practices.
Strong Interpersonal skills-ability to establish trust and effective working relationships with others-both external and internal customers in a multi-cultural environment.
Strong Communication Skills, including the ability to provide phone support to our agents. Must be able to listen effectively, confidently and diplomatically express decisions and outcomes, provide agent training when needed, and present effective written communication to varied audiences.
Self-motivated; must be able to work independently and within a team/group environment and make logical decisions.
Demonstrates initiative as evidenced by ability to organize and prioritize work.
Exceptional understanding of principles and processes for providing excellent customer service. This includes meeting established time and quality standards ensuring customer satisfaction

**About the role**
Trustmark is looking for a Case Underwriter to join the organization.
Responsible for providing timely and accurate underwriting offers, while adhering to pricing and profit objectives. Develops partnership with Sales to maximize ability to sell new/maintain existing business. Stays current with our Administrative, Enrollment, Broker, and Enrollment Company capabilities and processes.
**Key Accountabilities**
+ Processes, reviews, analyzes and makes informed underwriting decisions for assigned territory. All cases are reviewed with manager or higher level underwriter until proficiency is achieved. At full proficiency, underwriting authority is a maximum of 5,000 life case or $500,000 of annualized premium.
+ Reviews enrollment and participation trends in assigned territory and makes recommendations to optimize opportunity for sales while minimizing risk.
+ Provides monthly updates on sold case successes and failures as it relates to access and participation for Guarantee Issue cases.
+ Continually asks questions to grow and better understand our products and procedures. Develops and grows relationship with Implementation Managers to gain their confidence in decisions.
+ Understands non-standard broker arrangements and enrollment company strengths and weaknesses.
+ Identifies elements of a successful enrollment and makes recommendations that will create value.
+ Works with reinsurer on cases that require facultative review.
**Minimum Requirements**
+ Bachelor's Degree and/or 2 - 4 years of related experience OR High School Diploma or GED with 4-6 years of related experience.
The compensation range for this role is (based on the corporate location in Lake Forest, Illinois):
$61,412.00 - $88,706.00 per year
The final salary offer will be determined based on factors such as location, qualifications, experience, skill set, and other relevant factors. This position may also be eligible for bonus.
