What the day will look like
Within stipulated underwriting authority limits, this position is accountable for reviewing and evaluating applications for insurance coverage in order to classify the degree of insurable risk and determine appropriate premium amounts.
Review and evaluate insurance applications and related documents, including inspection reports, financial statements, loss data, MVRs and other information needed to properly evaluate and classify the degree of risk in relation to proposed coverage limits.
Obtain all relevant information not included with the initial submission to ensure a thorough evaluation of the risk.
Review and evaluate renewal business and recommend appropriate actions to attain premium rate and loss ratio objectives.
Prepare and review quotations to ensure accuracy prior to presentation to potential clients.
Approve the coverages requested within specified underwriting authority, either as submitted or on a modified basis, or decline the risk in its entirely; refer with recommended action if risk exceeds underwriting authority.
Review policy forms used in specific programs to ensure consistency.
Manage a book of business with goals for production, net revenue, rate increase, loss ratio and underwriting audit results.
Complete a variety of underwriting projects at the direction of the Underwriting Director and Senior Vice President.

P&C License required
5 years commercial insurance underwriting experience
Computer skill with Microsoft Products (Word, Excel, Outlook)
Understanding of commercial property, liability, crime, inland marine, auto and workers compensation coverage
Computer skills to include Microsoft Word, Outlook and Excel
Excellent math, oral and written English communication skills
Must be well organized, able to prioritize work and possess effective time management skills in a fast-paced environment

The salary range for this position (intended for U.S. applicants) is $55,000 to $65,000 annually. The actual salary will vary based on applicant's education, experience, skills, and abilities, as well as internal equity and alignment with market data. This position is eligible to participate in one of Aon's annual incentive plans to receive an annual discretionary bonus in addition to base salary. The amount of any bonus varies and is subject to the terms and conditions of the applicable incentive plan.

Description The Opportunity:The Underwriter is responsible for evaluating individual account risk in relation to coverage granted to price and set terms for accounts that will balance written premium, rate, and profitability goals. This position will support management and coworkers with projects through leadership, teamwork, training, and implementation. In This Role You Will Execute On:
Effectively implement the underwriting standards, procedures, coverage forms and rating plans established for each HAS program
Identify acceptable accounts from those submitted by HAS appointed agencies/producers utilizing the HAS Underwriting Guidelines established for each program or plan
Utilize all resources available to determine the terms and premium for each account submitted, including but not limited to: account application, schedules, web-site, driver data, motor vehicle driver reports, news articles, risk management reports, MSB valuations, independent appraisals, IRMI and other resources;
Determine the terms and premium for each account and release a quotation utilizing the HAS underwriting system by or prior to the agent/producer due date
Place necessary reinsurance when exposures exceed program or program delegated authority / capacity
Demonstrate knowledge of coverage forms specific to each assigned program
Demonstrate sound underwriting decisions as demonstrated by file documentation and discussions on facts leading to the decision
Maintain effective file organization
Demonstrate effective planning and organization skills utilized to manage the assigned accounts, projects and performance requirements
In This Role You Will Need:
5+ years of insurance underwriting experience

Aon Is Looking For An Underwriting Specialist II We currently have an exciting hybrid career opportunity for an Underwriting Specialist II in our Ft. Wayne, IN office. This position will support Aon's K&K Insurance group Mass Merchandising business group within Aon Affinity. What the day will look like: Answer client phone calls that are received within the division and effectively communicate program guidelines to the client as well as answering any questions related to the specific programs. Review, evaluate and approve insurance applications and related documents. Follow up with client or agent on pending information needed for a complete submission following the specific guidelines for the cash with application program. Prepare files for renewal solicitation. Verify accounts are still within the parameters of underwriting guidelines. Order loss runs and send non-renewals as needed. Communicate with policy operations on the execution of tasks needed to bind an account or complete a client's request. Develop and maintain positive and constructive working relationships with underwriters, marketing professionals, brokers, and policy operations associates to provide high quality service to clients. Assist in review and assignments of e-mails in unit shared e-mail boxes, including e-commerce websites (transaction confirmations). Meet minimum performance standards determined by Key Performance Indicators. Support a tier based phone support system answering calls from agents or insured's as needed. Skills and experience that will lead to success: 1+ years of office and/or administrative background. P&C license preferred/must be obtained within 6 months of hire. Customer Service experience including verbal/telephone skills. 1- 2 years Insurance industry experience preferred Strong organizational and interpersonal skills with attention to detail. Ability to work with frequent and multiple policy, procedure, and regulation changes. Proficiency at keying alpha and numeric information with accuracy and speed. Knowledge of basic equipment functions, such as how to create and maintain files, printing, copying, faxing, phone messaging and voicemail. Education: High School Diploma or Equivalent.
