Function
This function is responsible for the application of knowledge and understanding of coverage forms, rating plans and guidelines in the selection and pricing of individual risks. This role will ensure adequate pricing of individual risks through proper classification, accuracy of information and adherence to company underwriting standards and philosophies. The role will be responsible for the administration and management of insurance programs written through GA's, including production, underwriting, monitoring, and servicing the business in order to achieve profitability goals.
Role
The role will be responsible for managing production in a growing underwriting territory while utilizing marketing, and agency management skills in order to achieve profitability goals. Success in the role requires proficiency with interpersonal skills and the ability to work in a team environment which upholds adherence to underwriting standards. Responsibilities
Underwriting
Assess new and renewal accounts to determine acceptability based on underwriting guidelines and authority granted. Underwrite and monitor various classes of insurance business while achieving profitability targets
Creates, analyzes, and interprets data from various systems and underwriting resources.
Responsible for monitoring production, profitability and maintaining agency relationships.
Effectively communicate (written/verbal) information to both internal and external customers to ensure our standards of excellence are maintained.
Promotes consistency among underwriting team by contributing knowledge and soliciting feedback relative to underwriting philosophy and company goals.
Provides guidance and support to our Service & Delivery team members
Develop, market, and maintain and enhance existing general agent relationships
Qualifications/Requirements
Minimum of two (2) years of experience as an Underwriter in P&C Insurance for an E&S carrier
Strong knowledge of General Liability and Property Insurance
Demonstrated knowledge of commercial lines underwriting, risk and agency
Strong interpersonal and team building skills

Minimum 3 years commercial property experience
Inland Marine experience preferred
Associate Underwriter Duties: New & Renewal submission prep:
Review upcoming in force renewal list; 120-day window
Collaborate with Underwriter on renewal plans, i.e. ‘quick' rollover renewals, re-underwrite, non-renew, renewal solicitation emails, etc.
Send declinations on new business risks representing ineligible classes and size, ensure declinations recorded in the appropriate systems (DMS, ALIS)
Triage incoming renewal submissions: verify SOV, identify anomalies/errors and missing information and correspond with broker to resolve
Format SOVs for Geocoding and SpatialKey import
Begin account summary process; OctoCapp/CapApp data entry as needed
Endorsements and Service Requests:
Assess and confirm specific actions with underwriter, acting within authority guidelines
Calculate APs and RPs. Hand-off to Risk Analysts to facilitate the processing of service requests
Deconstruct complex requests, ensuring full RA understanding of the request and approach to resolution
Seize all opportunities to train RAs on the thought process behind the UA work
Review and issuance of policy forms
Conduct weekly touch point with underwriters to review outstanding items
Collaborate with Underwriter Analysts for support on needed corrections, process bottlenecks, etc.

Reviews complex conventional/conforming Jumbo loan submissions, ensures company guidelines are met, and evaluates loans to maximize company profit and minimize company risk exposure

The **National Accounts Strategic Underwriter** is responsible for providing strategic and analytical underwriting support for national account clients. This includes financial modeling, risk assessments, and developing multi-year pricing strategies tailored to large, complex employer groups.
