We are looking to add to our Property & Casualty team in Denver and hire an experienced P&C Underwriter in our Greenwood Village office. In this role, you will serve as a customer advocate with a focus on improving the customer experience by understanding their unique risks and offering the best end-to-end solution for their Middle Markets P&C insurance needs.
What you can expect in a Property & Casualty Underwriting Position in Middle Markets at Zurich:
+ You will develop and maintain relationships with brokers partners and customers across all industries in support of business objectives.
+ You will leverage your P&C underwriting acumen across risk assessment, exposure evaluation and pricing to generate and maintain a profitable book of new and renewal business.
+ You will work collaboratively across business units including but not limited to; claims, finance, risk engineering, actuary, and technical underwriting while gaining extensive knowledge in a growing and innovative industry.
+ You will be empowered to use your technical underwriting, negotiation, and interpersonal skills to grow and develop relationships with preferred distribution partners in an assigned territory.
This role will be filled at either the Underwriting Specialist OR Executive Underwriter Level. The hiring manager will determine the appropriate level based upon the selected applicant's experience and skill set relative to the qualifications listed for this position.
Underwriting Specialist Required Qualifications:
+ High School Diploma or Equivalent and 3 or more years of experience in the Underwriting or Market Facing area.OR
+ High School Diploma or Equivalent and 6 or more years of experience in the Claims or Underwriting Support area OR
+ Zurich Certified Insurance Apprentice including an Associate Degree and 1 or more years of experience in the Underwriting or Market Facing area OR
+ Zurich Certified Insurance Apprentice including an Associate Degree and 4 or more years of experience in the Claims or Underwriting Support area AND
+ Knowledge of Property and Casualty lines of business and the legal and regulatory guidelines
+ Knowledge of time restraints for quotes on new and renewal business
+ Experience with Microsoft Office

The combined salary range for this position is $75,000.00 - $165,000.00. For the Executive Underwriter Level is $98,500.00 - $165,000.00, with short-term incentive bonus eligibility set at 15%.

Review third-party reports to ensure compliance with Agency guidelines (appraisal, environmental, engineering, zoning, etc.)
Monitor transaction status to manage Production and Borrower expectations and anticipate, avoid, or solve any potential transaction-related problems
Coordinate with the internal insurance team and Agency to obtain insurance approval, including waiver approval, if necessary
Coordinate the closing of the transaction between Production, attorneys, and the title company on Freddie Mac transactions
Participate in calls with Production and Borrower and/or legal to discuss transaction details, issues, and borrower structure.
Conduct site visits with the Borrower, Production, and consultants, as needed.
Draft Application and Commitment Letters, Rate Lock Agreements/Trade Authorizations
Assist in final loan package delivery or pre-purchase matters.
Keep apprised of shifts in the commercial real estate world, including Agency credit parameters and requirements.

**Key Accountabilities**
+ Processes, reviews, analyzes and makes informed underwriting decisions for assigned territory. All cases are reviewed with manager or higher level underwriter until proficiency is achieved. At full proficiency, underwriting authority is a maximum of 5,000 life case or $500,000 of annualized premium.
+ Reviews enrollment and participation trends in assigned territory and makes recommendations to optimize opportunity for sales while minimizing risk.
+ Provides monthly updates on sold case successes and failures as it relates to access and participation for Guarantee Issue cases.
+ Continually asks questions to grow and better understand our products and procedures. Develops and grows relationship with Implementation Managers to gain their confidence in decisions.
+ Understands non-standard broker arrangements and enrollment company strengths and weaknesses.
+ Identifies elements of a successful enrollment and makes recommendations that will create value.
+ Works with reinsurer on cases that require facultative review.

Coordinate with the internal insurance team and Agency to obtain insurance approval, including waiver approval, if necessary
Coordinate the closing of the transaction between Production, attorneys, and the title company on Freddie Mac transactions
Participate in calls with Production and Borrower and/or legal to discuss transaction details, issues, and borrower structure.
Conduct site visits with the Borrower, Production, and consultants, as needed.
Draft Application and Commitment Letters, Rate Lock Agreements/Trade Authorizations
Assist in final loan package delivery or pre-purchase matters.
Keep apprised of shifts in the commercial real estate world, including Agency credit parameters and requirements.
What We're Looking For:
3-5 years of Agency Underwriting experience, including Fannie MAH and Freddie TAH transactions
Knowledge of Agency program requirements
Bachelor's degree in Real Estate Finance, Accounting, Business Administration, or a related field
Strong organizational skills with the ability to handle multiple assignments while meeting deadlines
Client service-oriented mindset with excellent problem-solving abilities. Ability to manage/underwrite multiple transactions at once
Demonstrated work ethic and willingness to work extended hours when necessary
Excellent written and verbal communication skills
High level of integrity, confidentiality, and professionalism
Strong computer knowledge with Microsoft Office applications, in particular Word, Excel, and Adobe. Salesforce proficiency is a plus
Ability to travel for site inspections, as required
