The Renewal Underwriter is integral to maintaining our high level of service and responsiveness on current accounts. Underwriter will work with agent, broker clients, and internal teams to underwrite profitable business consisting of renewal commercial P&C insurance within authority level.
Responsibilities:
Determine the acceptability, quality and profitability of existing business based on company underwriting guidelines and objectives within authority level
Collect, maintain and analyze data in order to make informed underwriting decisions
Manage assigned territory so that items such as renewals, endorsements, claim reviews and related transactions are completed accurately within accepted corporate time frames
Treats all inquiries on a professional basis, providing timely, courteous and efficient customer service to agents, policyholders, team members and other departments
Make recommendations to Senior Underwriter or Supervisor on selected risks beyond assigned authority level
Address assigned workload within quality, productivity and service standards as established by the company underwriting guidelines
Meet regularly with the broker/underwriting teams on strategy and follow-up
Special projects as needed.
Requirements:
Bachelor's Degree or equivalent.
Minimum of 3 years of work-related experience in P&C renewal underwriting process
Participate in company organized, prescribed or designated insurance seminars and workshops on or off premises.
Travel as needed.
The base salary offered for the successful candidate will be based on compensable factors such as job-relevant education, job-relevant experience, training, licensure, demonstrated competencies, geographic location, and other factors.

Commissions as a New Agent: This position is a commission-only based sales position. The average commission on a mortgage protection product is approximately $600 per family you protect. Our expectation is that a full-time agent will sell 5 to 10 mortgage protection plans per week. In addition to mortgage protection, we also have a selection of premium financial products to help people save for retirement or protect their current retirement accounts (e.g. 401k's and IRA's) from losing money in the stock market. We have extensive training on how these products work and how to sell them. Main Responsibilities for this role include:
Underwrite Profitable business
Underwrite new and renewal accounts to meet top and bottom line targets
Negotiate price and terms and conditions with producers
Proactively manage capacity
Underwrite and evaluate Natural Catastrophe Accumulation, ensuring an understanding of catastrophe modeling and interpretation of scenarios for relevant Lines of Business (LoB's)
Underwriting Approach and Compliance
Underwrite in line with LoB governance framework - e.g. Underwriting Authorities, Underwriting Guidelines, Rules and Principles
Ensure contract certainty is achieved on all accounts at time of inception
Ensure utilization of global pricing tools
Ensure placing and binding of FAC Reinsurance prior to policy inception
Policy Documentation and Administration
Ensure accurate policy documentation issued to producers or producers has issued documentation (where producer responsibility)
File maintenance - ensure file is established (whether electronic or paper) and maintained for each risk and transaction handled
Proactively support completion of policy administration and credit control processes
Underwriting Strategy & Leadership
Contribute to development and execution of regional Underwriting strategy for LoB regionally
Training, developing and coaching of less experienced staff (including Underwriters)
Delegate work as appropriate
Requirements:
A minimum of 3+ years of direct experience in underwriting profitable business
Specialized expert understanding of sub-LoB products and portfolio
Recognized relationships with brokers at peer group level and well established within market
Specialized understanding of regional / local LoB insurance markets and competitor landscape, including global elements
Preferably a degree in Economics, Finance, Insurance Management, or Business Administration
Professional insurance qualification (e.g. CPCU) is a plus

Responsibilities
Key Risk is looking for an enthusiastic and experienced Production Underwriter with established relationships to join our team. The successful candidate will be responsible for contributing to the achievement of the team's profit plan through proper risk selection, agency management, and communication of Key Risk's value proposition.
Key functions include but are not limited to the following:
Underwrite accounts over $25,000 within established underwriting authority
Manage a book of business totaling a minimum of $10,000,000
Develops and maintains relationships with 10-20 retail agencies or wholesalers
Responsible for a moderate number of agencies including President's Club producers
Achieves/exceeds planned accident year loss ratio, rate change, renewal retention and new business goals
Takes initiative to recommend potential improvements in underwriting principles, techniques or appetite
Complies with insurance filings and regulatory requirements
Researches new market niches, serves as an industry lead, and participates in special projects
Establishes a knowledge base of agency needs, staff, target markets, and contracted insurers
Performs agency evaluations and establishes agency goals within required time frames and expectations

Qualifications
BA/BS Degree
CPCU, CIC, or AU designation preferred
3+ years of workers compensation underwriting and/or sales experience with the full array of industrial classes, deductibles and dividend plans.
Understands loss development and can objectively assess workplace hazards, hazard controls and employer financials
Self-motivated and results oriented
Strong book management skills with the ability to work independently and as a team member
Capable of working with internal and external teams and partners
Superior customer service skills

Summary
The Centralized Commercial Lending - Renewal Team is searching for a Commercial Underwriter II responsible for evaluating business loan applications based on established Bank policies and procedures. Candidate will evaluate the merits of an existing loan request in the $1MM-$3MM range of total exposure, and either recommend a decision to a senior credit officer or use their own authority to decision the application.
Key Responsibilities
* Review cash flows and Moody's spreads either self-prepared or prepared by the Credit Analyst, conduct in-depth analyses of financial information to form a recommendation of approval or denial of new loans in accordance with the Bank's policy and procedures. Prepare Credit Origination Memorandum in a clearly written concise manner, identifying strengths, risks and mitigating factors. Review, analyze and evaluate financial and pertinent data to determine credit worthiness of loan prospects and merits of specific loan requests. Collaborate with Relationship Managers, leaders and Relationship Managers to gather all necessary information to present an accurate and complete assessment of the loan presented.
* Ability to prepare high quality, detailed credit approval documents that contain an in-depth analysis, an understanding of and identification of credit issues and risks. Ability to spread and interpret financial statements, tax returns, and projections using Excel.
* Ability to provide recommendations on loan structuring and alternative structures that may be more appropriate for the transaction.
* Ability to work in a high-volume environment, meeting or exceeding Service Level Agreements and turn time goals throughout the process, providing credit decisions in a timely manner.
* Work independently on special projects related to credit topics and issues as requested by Bank Credit team(s).
* Support the Bank's strong relationship banking culture through on-going internal partner contact, quality customer service, and superior product knowledge. Understand and adhere to the Bank's Bank Secrecy Act policy and procedures and "know your customer/enhanced due diligence" guidelines. Brings any suspicious activity to the attention of a supervisor, or the Bank Secrecy Act Officer. Follow all Bank policies and procedures to ensure compliance with all laws and regulations.
* May perform other duties as assigned.
Requirements
* Bachelor's degree required for consideration or equivalent combination of education and experience
* Three (3) to five (5) years of commercial credit underwriting experience
Knowledge/Skills/Abilities/Training/Systems
* Fundamental understanding of commercial credit underwriting.
* Ability to interact with all levels of clients, staff and management.
* Ability to work successfully in a deadline driven team environment.
* Strong MS Office skills, especially with Excel.
* Must be organized and detail oriented with the ability to multitask.
* Must be able to work independently and make sound decisions.
* Good written and oral communication skills.
* Good fundamental understanding of general bank operations, proficient understanding of the components of financial planning, deposit products, small business products, investment and insurance products.
