PRIMARY FUNCTIONS
Interacts directly with loan officers and customers/prospects regarding commercial business loans.
Prepares accurate financial statement spreadsheets and debt service analysis derived from business and personal financial statements and tax returns.
Prepares accurate Credit Authorization's in conjunction with loan officers and presents a complete and thorough analysis of existing and potential borrowers.
Recognize and act on customer prospects, cross sell opportunities with existing customers.

Assists in the accurate determination of a borrower's debt service capacity in conformity to the type of credit analyzed.
Reviews loan agreement covenants for verification of the compliance thereto.
Accurately prepares financial projections as required.
Maintains an accurate, up-to-date tracking log of all activity and credit arrangements in process.
Collects industry information relevant to existing and proposed borrowers using internal & external sources.
Consult with the President, Chief Credit Officer, Credit Administration Officers, and other Loan Officers, on credit structure, pricing, collateral and other credit consideration issues.
Gather information from the Bank's LAS system to compute lending liability to the Bank.
Conducts trade and reference checks on customers/prospects.

Key Responsibilities
Funding Loans:
o Responsible for the timely and accurate coordination, processing and funding of all loan files including reviewing and interpreting underwriting conditions.

This individual will play a key role in the evolution of our Multi-Family and Mixed-Use construction department. The candidate for this role should have a minimum of 3 years experience in the direct underwriting and credit analysis for construction lending. A Bachelor's degree in Finance, Urban Development, Construction Management, Civil Engineering, or Risk Management is a plus. Evaluation of pro formas, construction budgets, and stabilization NOI (Net Operating Income) projections. Analysis of multi-layered risk based on audited financials, net worth, liquidity, portfolio performance, project feasibility cash-flow and debt coverage will be required. Responsibilities will include analysis of multi-layered risk based on audited financials, net worth, liquidity, portfolio performance, project feasibility, cash-flow, and debt coverage. The Commercial Underwriter's primary responsibility is to produce and underwrite new and renewal commercial bond business while maintaining and building productive relationships with our network of independent agents and brokers. The person in this role should be a self-motivated individual with the responsibility to cultivate and maintain a profitable commercial book of business by using sound judgment when assessing risk and providing excellent service to our agents and customers.
Responsibilities:
Gather, analyze and underwrite commercial surety bonds
Evaluate and manage risk associated with various types of commercial surety bonds while adhering to the company's underwriting philosophy
Have a keen understanding of legal documents, indemnity agreements, statutes, bond forms, and insurance laws and regulations
Have a solid understanding of financial and accounting principles
Demonstrate sound business judgment in the evaluation of the financial condition, credit history, experience, and character of bond applicants
Develop new business through agency relationships
Possess a solid knowledge of processing methods and workflow procedures
Exhibit excellent written and verbal communication both internally and externally
Effectively interact with people in small groups and social situations
Price, quote, negotiate terms and conditions, and service accounts
Decline and/or cancel coverage
Renewal bond underwriting
Contribute to internal processing and underwriting systems for standardization and efficiencies
Available for overnight travel and the ability to attend occasional agent meetings or industry events
Mentor and provide guidance and support for team members
Qualifications:
Minimum 2+ year's industry experience
Bachelor's degree preferred; high school diploma accepted with equivalent industry experience.
Ability to thoroughly analyze bond applications and make both objective and subjective decisions based on that data
Ability to interpret an extensive variety of procedures and instructions and deal with several abstract and concrete variables
Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts and draw valid conclusions
Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as premium rates and commissions
Ability to compose business correspondence and respond to questions from managers, clients, and customers
Ability to handle large volume of bonds and be able to prioritize, organize, and delegate assignments
Possess strong interpersonal skills
Possess strong organizational and time management skills
Ability to multi-task and work in a team environment
Strong customer service orientation and negotiating skills
Self-motivated and ability to work independently as well as part of a team

Pay information:
The base salary offered for the successful candidate will be based on compensable factors such as job-relevant education, job-relevant experience, training, licensure, demonstrated competencies, geographic location, and other factors. The salary for the position is $74,320 - $102,190 with a 20% bonus potential.

This is a full-time, in office position in our Woodland Hills, CA office with a hybrid schedule (with 3 days per week in office required) once training is complete.
Pursuant to California regulation, the compensation for this position is $68,640 to $72,000 annually, and includes eligibility for performance-based bonuses.
We are looking for people with:
At least 1 year experience as support staff in an office environment or a Bachelor's degree from an accredited four-year university
Property and Casualty License or ability to earn a license within 90 days (cost reimbursed and study support provided by Amwins)
