FM Affiliated Production Underwriters primary relationships are with brokers and reinsurers for insurance related issues. Responsibilities include meeting specific profit, retention, and production goals. Business relationships and a network of contacts must be established and an effective program of calls must be executed to meet an average of 10 external calls a month to ensure high visibility. Travel is required for marketing and training including out of state travel. New risks must be pre-qualified based on acceptability today and its future potential, this includes a thorough analysis of the broker submission, desired pricing, terms and conditions, financial condition, adequacy of reported values, and loss experience. The company's assets must be protected by adhering to company underwriting standards and procedures, this will include determining the amount subject, net capacity commitment, checking cross liability, management of catastrophe aggregate retentions, negotiating and purchasing reinsurance and establishing commissions in a manner most advantageous to the company.
This position requires someone with a bachelor's degree or equivalent.
2-5 Years industry experience (broker/insurance company) as Underwriter for commercial property accounts of varying occupancies and sizes.
Candidate must also have experience dealing with a variety of occupancies as well as current engineering and underwriting issues such as current property coverages and forms, and/or quickly learn and keep updated on industry state of the art.
Additionally, this person will be proficient in and have excellent organizational, time management, problem solving, decision making, interpersonal and selling skills and a working knowledge of MS Office products.

The Difference You Make:
The Community Development Finance Underwriter is responsible for underwriting community development equity investments and loans for the Company's Community Reinvestment Act (CRA) Program. Will manage complex commercial accounts that meet the Company's community development investment and loan requirements and maximizes profitability while minimizing risk. Will be the primary credit contact for new, complex community development transactions including Low-Income Housing Tax Credit (LIHTC), New Market Tax Credit and Small Business Investment Company investments, Community Development Financial Institution (CDFI) loans and LIHTC lending.
Leads the due diligence process on new investments and loans including conducting due diligence and financial analysis and working with credit professionals to produce summary memos for new investments and loans.

About the role

Job Responsibilities:
* Responsible for underwriting commercial loans for new and existing customers leveraging provided software cutting-edge models and alternative data to assess businesses of various scales.
* Conduct in-depth analysis of financial statements (Balance Sheet, P&L, Cash Flow) to determine debt service capacity, leverage, and liquidity positions.
* Prepare comprehensive credit memos and present recommendations to the Credit Committee, clearly articulating key risks, mitigants, and structuring rationales.
* Structure complex credit facilities, including recommending appropriate covenants, collateral requirements, and terms that align with the borrower's risk profile Assists team members in evaluating new data sources in Colombia.
* Provide input for improving efficiency for the underwriting team.
* Establishes rapport; maintains and grows important relationship within the portfolio.
Requirements:
* 5+ years in credit underwriting, with experience in commercial credit risk in the Colombian market.
* Solid understanding of the Colombian regulatory landscape (e.g., SARLAFT) and legal frameworks regarding commercial lending, guarantees, and collateral enforcement.
* Expertise working with local credit bureaus (e.g., DataCrédito, TransUnion) and interpreting local tax/legal documents (Rut, Cámara de Comercio, Declaración de Renta).
* Advanced proficiency in financial modeling and 'spreading' financial statements; ability to reconstruct cash flows from raw data.
* Understanding of how risk models operate and how to explain components of underwriting assessment.
* Must have the ability to conduct research into borrowers and industries to be abreast with factors that may affect profitability and the borrower's ability to repay loans.
* Demonstrated ability to work well with internal sales teams and balance need for prudent underwriting and following guidelines with a mindset and bias to enable growth.
* Experience with corporate credit cards, payments, lending, or related industries.
* Intellectual curiosity.
* Excellent written and verbal communication skills conducted in English.
* Strong interpersonal skills to develop and maintain internal and external relationships within their portfolio.

Pay information:
