As a Senior Executive Underwriter at The Hartford, your primary role will be to underwrite and actively pursue new business, manage an existing book of renewal business and service the needs of our distribution partners on an account-by-account basis. The Senior Executive Underwriter will serve as a key member of the Financial & Executive Liability local region, reporting directly to the Central Region Managing Director of the Executive Liability Team. The Executive Liability Team focuses on Management Liability and Fidelity products for publicly traded accounts. Products include primary and excess Directors' & Officers' Liability, Employment Practices Liability, Fiduciary Liability and Fidelity coverage lines.

Compensation
The listed annualized base pay range is primarily based on analysis of similar positions in the external market. Actual base pay could vary and may be above or below the listed range based on factors including but not limited to performance, proficiency and demonstration of competencies required for the role. The base pay is just one component of The Hartford's total compensation package for employees. Other rewards may include short-term or annual bonuses, long-term incentives, and on-the-spot recognition. The annualized base pay range for this role is:

Each Associate Underwriter provides vital team functions:
Review submission information required to issue new or renewal quotes
Rating and preparation of new or renewal quotes as directed by Underwriter
Review and handling of inspection recommendations and discrepancies
Monitor various reports for consistency
Potential for policy issuance and endorsement processing, including audits
Assist in accounting procedures such as invoicing
Data entry into multiple internet based systems
We are looking for people with:
At least 1 year of prior insurance experience
Wholesale insurance experience preferred!
Exceptional communication skills, organization, professionalism and customer-service mentality
Excellent computer skills including Microsoft 365 proficiency with an emphasis in Excel spreadsheets
Pursuant to Illinois regulation, the compensation range for this position is $58,700 to $65,000 and includes eligibility for performance-based bonuses.

We are currently seeking a seasoned Executive Underwriter, Property to join our team. This role focuses on underwriting large and complex property risks across a wide array of industry sectors, contributing to the profitability and strategic growth of our portfolio.
Key Responsibilities
Underwrite and manage a book of large, complex property accounts, including shared and layered placements, high-hazard occupancies, and multinational programs.
Develop and maintain strategic relationships with key brokers, clients, and industry partners to drive profitable growth.
Assess and price risks by analyzing complex property exposures, including natural catastrophe modeling, and loss history.
Collaborate across departments, including Risk Engineering, Claims, and Reinsurance, to deliver comprehensive solutions tailored to client needs.
Lead negotiations on terms and conditions, endorsements, and manuscript wordings to ensure appropriate coverage and risk mitigation.
Stay up to date on market trends, competitive dynamics, and emerging risks, contributing to pricing strategies, product development, and underwriting guidelines.
Represent HDI at industry events and client meetings to promote our capabilities and expand market presence.
Qualifications
10+ years of commercial property underwriting experience, with a focus on large accounts, complex occupancies, or multinational programs.
Bachelor's degree required; industry certifications such as CPCU, ARM, or equivalent preferred.
Strong technical underwriting expertise in property lines including fire, natural catastrophe, manufacturing, real estate, and logistics.
In-depth knowledge of property forms, manuscript wording, reinsurance structures, and pricing methodologies.
Demonstrated ability to negotiate and influence at a senior level with both internal and external stakeholders. Ability to mentor and coach junior team members.
Proven experience in building and maintaining broker and client relationships in major hubs.
Willingness to travel for client, broker, and industry engagements.
The base salary range for this position is $170,000-$220,000, plus eligibility for a performance-based annual bonus. Actual compensation will be determined based on experience, education, and geographic location.
