    A full time, non-exempt position responsible for providing clinical dental services and preventive dental care in a community health center setting. The staff dentist supervises the dental assistants and dental hygienists of the community health center in the absence of the dental director. Essential Functions Examines individuals requesting care, diagnoses their dental/oral conditions, prescribes and carries out, or directs others in carrying out, appropriate dental/oral treatment, or refers individuals for specialty consultation or treatment in conformance with approved clinical protocols and guidelines. Records patient-dentist transactions as they occur in the patient's dental records so that the dental record accurately and completely reflects the nature of the contract, the condition of the patient and the care or treatment provided. In addition, the staff dentist shall complete referrals, data collections instruments and other records or paper works as shall be required from time to time by the corporation. Educates individuals in the nature of oral health related conditions and in the general promotion of oral health related disease prevention. Participates in all organizational quality activity improvement as assigned Prepares specific reports as requested by Unicare's Dental Director. Assists in the provision of continuing education, on the job training, and the orientation of community health center staff as requested. Design, develops, and implements appropriate dental department policies, protocols and procedures as directed by the dental director which are in compliance with the most current accepted professional standards. Assists in the provision of technical assistance and health education to the community as requested. Participates in short- and long-term program planning for the dental department and the agency, including development of goals and objectives. Provides consultation to the Chief Executive Officer and the Board of Directors regarding dental and oral health issues in the absence of the Dental Director. Travels when necessary to fulfill the corporations needs and attends meeting as necessary to represent the corporation and/or the dental department. Assists in the coordination and integration of the corporation's dental programs and services with other corporate programs and services for the welfare of the corporation's patients. Responsible for personal full compliance with all applicable federal, state, local and Unicare rules, regulations, protocols and procedures governing the practice of dentistry and the clinical provision of dental care as well as those relating to, but not limited to, personnel issues, work place safety, public health and confidentiality. Participates in recruitment/retention activities of the corporation, as necessary. Use of Electronic Health Records to deliver care.     The Comprehensive Prenatal Health Worker (CPHW)/Medical Assistant provides support services, ongoing orientations, assessments, care plan development, appropriate nutrition, health education and psychosocial interventions and referral when needed, to UCHC's prenatal patients. Works under the Clinic Manager to assist with maintaining efficient patient flow and quality care during the clinic hours. Works as part of the health care team including physicians, NP/PA's and LCSW to provide comprehensive care in a non-judgmental manner. UCHC is a federally qualified health center providing comprehensive patient-centered primary care services including medical, dental, substance abuse treatment, mental health and outreach services to low income, multiethnic, uninsured and underinsured populations. Essential Functions Conducts face-to face interviews with all prenatal patients, screens patients forpresumptive eligibility (PE) and issuing of PE card if eligible; Issues the 2nd good thru extension for patients. Identify opportunities and facilitate efforts to expand service or increase patient accessinto programs. Assures client charts are documented whenever telephone & face-to-face contact is made. Codes all super bills accordingly to type of visit and signs all chart entries using legalsignature and title. Provides ongoing orientation, assessments, classes and makes the appropriate referrals when needed to our prenatal patients. Prepares all Intake packets English/Spanish and makes sure all appointments have been given to patient accordingly. i.e. Intake, Initial, Medi-Cal, etc. Assist patients in completing Medi-Cal forms (application) and follow-up on No show/missed appointments. Orders all prenatal forms as needed and fax weekly PE enrollment Summary Forms tothe state. Fax weekly schedules to Medi-Cal worker and advocate for patients with the Medi-Calworker. Case management of the prenatal program, which includes reviewing all prenatal charts after each clinic visit with the provider, as well as reviewing each chart the day before thevisit with the provider. This is to assure that all procedures, tests, etc. that the providerhas ordered have been done and lab results have been received on a timely manner. Attends recommended job-relatedtrainings provided by the CPSP County program. Perform vital signs and record in eCW. Triage and room patients for telehealth and in-person visits. Provide back up support for the medical assistant team, which includes all functions of a medical assistant. Assist with the training of medical assistants and volunteer staff. Assist with daily and monthly quality assurance reviews including emergency kit check off. Record and maintain the refrigerator and freezer temperature log.
