    Support Staff/Instructional Assistant Date Available: 08/06/2025 Closing Date: 08/06/2025 TITLE: Special Education Instructional Aide - Applied Skills Classroom LOCATION: Jr.-Sr. High School REPORTS TO: Jr.-Sr. High School Principal, Teacher of Record and/or Department Head ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS include the following. Other duties may be assigned. This position is for the Applied Skills classroom and the candidate will need to be able to life at least 50 pounds. Assists students, individually or in groups, with lesson assignments to present or reinforce learning concepts. Confers with parents on progress of students when requested by classroom teacher. QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS: To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential function satisfactorily and work cooperatively with others in a team environment. The candidate must be able to lift at least 50 pounds. EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE: Associates degree (A.A.) or equivalent from two-year college or technical school and/or a high school diploma); one year experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience. LANGUAGE SKILLS: Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos. Ability to write simple correspondence. Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to faculty, students, and other employees of the school. MATHEMATICAL SKILLS: Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs. REASONING ABILITY: Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations. PHYSICAL DEMANDS: The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. Ability to follow oral and written orders from supervisors, administrators, physicians, and to coordinate work with principal, teachers and others. Ability to describe orally and in writing school health services provided, issues and concerns regarding school health. Safety Requirements: Adheres to all applicable professional safety standards and practices in the nursing field, including requirements set forth in federal and state law, and Occupational Safety and Health regulations.
