The Payroll Intern will assist in the management and administration of payroll process including .
DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
* Participate in regular audits of payroll data and processes to ensure accuracy and compliance.
* Assist in reviewing and transcribing Payroll Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) for clarity and consistency.
* Support the management of timecard exceptions, including missed punches and hours worked below the required threshold (e.g., under 76 hours).
* Monitor and respond to payroll-related inquiries submitted through the internal ticketing system.
* Analyze payroll reports to identify discrepancies, trends, or areas for improvement.
Qualifications

Our interns are treated like full-time Partners who work 40 hours a week during the 3-month summer program, are compensated, and based out of headquarters in Strongsville, Ohio.
DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
Shadow D&I Officer in meetings with community groups, networking connections, and monthly Sr. Leadership planning meetings.
Coordinate engaging, educational content/activities for the UHM Networks (Young Professional, Women, Multi-Cultural), to include collaborating with Partner (employee) members and various departments.
Prepare communications and coordinate contacts, including but not limited to; welcome notices, experience surveys, exit interviews to be sent to UHM partners.
Collaborate with the Campus Recruiters for on-campus fairs and other events with student organizations to aid in recruiting diverse students into the UHM Internship program.
Create content for the You Belong department to be shared on internal platforms.
Manage month over month demographics for existing, hired and terminated partners including but not limited to, collecting missing demographic data to enter into HR system and running reports/sorting data.
Qualifications
SKILLS REQUIRED
Detail-oriented with strong organizational skills
Ability to communicate effectively and think independently
Knowledge of Microsoft Office, particularly Excel
Event planning skills
Candidate must be enthusiastic, a self-starter, have the ability to work in a group or independently and ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE
Pursuing a 2-year or 4-year college degree in, Human Resources, Labor Relations, Political Science, Psychology, Sociology, Business, Legal Studies, Marketing, Global/Cultural Studies or a related field.
Sophomore, Junior or Senior Standing
Experience in research, planning and execution of DEIB initiatives preferred

Required qualifications, capabilities and skills
* Enrolled in a Ph.D. or 2-year Master's degree program in math, science, engineering, computer science or other quantitative fields with an expected graduation date of December 2026 through August 2027
* Knowledge of machine learning / data science theory, techniques and tools
* Knowledge and proficiency in Python
* Excellent analytical, quantitative and problem-solving skills and demonstrated research ability
* Strong communication skills and the ability to present findings to a non-technical audience
Preferred qualifications, capabilities and skills
* Experience with modern machine learning tools such as PyTorch and XGBoost
* Experience with data tools such as Hadoop, PySpark and SQL
* Experience with Java, C++, C#, Rust an additional bonus
* Knowledge in Reinforcement, Meta, Graph or Transfer learning
* Knowledge in newer deep learning architecture such as Transformer or Mamba
* Knowledge in advanced mathematics arising in financial modeling such as Probability Theory, Monte-Carlo Simulation, Markov Chain and Econometric Theories
