About the Position
Unit Coordinators provide direct leadership, guidance, and support to Unit Counselors, serving as a liaison between unit counseling staff and the camp leadership team. This role supports counselors in camper behavior management, group supervision, and effective program planning and delivery.
Compensation for this position is $21.80 - $22.55 per hour, with the starting rate dependent on previous employment at GSWW camps.
Camp Season 2026 will run from June 8th through August 27th, with start and end dates determined by position. For the 2026 season, this position will be located at Camp River Ranch (Carnation, WA). Day Camp will run Monday through Friday 8:00 A.M. - 4:00 P.M with staff hours starting as early as 7:00 A.M. and ending no later than 6:00 P.M. Staff will be scheduled for a 40 hour work week and receive breaks throughout the day. Staff will have the opportunity to ride camp buses to and from camp and support the check-in and check-out processes at bus stops. Camp River Ranch serves campers ages 5 to 17 and offers a variety of programming including swimming, boating, target sports, climbing wall, and classic camp activities.
Requirements
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Provide guidance and coaching to Unit Counselors in camper and group management, promoting both the physical and emotional safety of campers
Conduct weekly observations and evaluations of Unit Counselors, including scheduled one-on-one meetings to provide constructive feedback
Ensure the timely completion of weekly paperwork by Unit Counselors and support department directors in communicating program specific needs
Coordinate session-specific programs by organizing supplies, setting up activities, providing instruction, and supporting Unit Counselors with implementation as needed
Support and participate in the implementation of all camp activities such as all camp games, campfires, etc.
Carry out established duties for general camp operations including check-in and check-out, bus supervision, camp cleaning, season opening and closing tasks, and completion of necessary paperwork

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Answers multiline phones, routing calls appropriately, and placing calls for patients all in an efficient, courteous manner.
Coordinates new admissions by preparing patients chart, securing patients belongings and updating all relevant unit documents.
Processes patient discharges by breaking down chart, creating and faxing discharge packets to appropriate parties and updating all relevant unit documents.
Maintains daily census log by recording admissions and discharges to provide source of information for statistical reporting.
Sends daily report to NSBHO regarding daily census.
Greets and assists visitors and vendors in a professional manner.
Maintains open charts by ensuring all signatures are completed, paperwork is updated and available.
Communicates with Snohomish County Mental Health to coordinate medication notices and notifications of patient admits and discharges.
Requests records from patients' outside providers including past hospitalizations.
Prepares information packets for referrals to Western State Hospital and other facilities.
Assists with direct care to meet the safety needs of patients and the facility. Assists patients with hygiene and clothing items. Triages patient requests and refers to the appropriate staff person and de-escalates patients as needed.
Assists with inventory and putting supplies away when they are delivered.
Communicates regularly with facilities department regarding any maintenance issues.
Performs filing, photocopying, data entry, word processing, mail processing and general support as needed.
Participates in regularly scheduled supervision and team meetings.
Remains compliant with required trainings and certifications.
Behaves in an ethical and professional manner consistent with agency policy, state law, and licensing entities if applicable.
Understands and practices safekeeping of client protected health information per Compass Health's HIPAA and other agency policies and procedures.

EDUCATION / EXPERIENCE / CERTIFICATIONS / LICENSES
High School Diploma or equivalent.
Minimum 1 year of related clerical experience.
Education and/or work experience in the mental health field preferred.
Valid Washington State Driver's License required including vehicle and appropriate insurance, if applicable.
Current First Aid & CPR certification and Food Handlers permit, or ability to obtain within 90 days of hire.
KNOWLEDGE / SKILLS / ABILITIES
Ability to perform clerical skills including word processing, filing, telephones and data entry.
Ability to maintain a positive, solution-focused demeanor when responding to conflicts or problems.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS / WORK ENVIRONMENT
The employee will be working in an acute care facility and must be able to physically participate in managing aggressive behavior from patients. Job Summary and Responsibilities As our Unit Coordinator, you will be a vital caregiver and the central hub, assuming responsibility for patient care processes from newborn to geriatric for a designated time frame. You will directly contribute to safe, therapeutic patient care while serving as the primary receptionist and secretary.
Every day you will support safe patient care through multidisciplinary processes and coordinating unit activities. You will efficiently manage information flow and assist healthcare team members in delivering care across all patient age groups.
To be successful in this role, you will demonstrate strong organizational and communication skills, a proactive approach to managing day-to-day operations, and a commitment to providing safe, therapeutic care while working effectively with the entire healthcare team.
* Performs receptionist and support duties at the assigned unit; handles incoming and outgoing communications, transfers calls appropriately, greets and assists visitors, answers questions in accordance with established procedures.
* Greets and assists all customers, physicians, patients, visitors and employees in a friendly and timely manner. Facilitates and directs communication among visitors, employees and physicians within the assigned work area. Assists physicians in locating patients, staff and information. Maintains and updates phone list/rolodex/database. Accesses and uses MSO.Net as needed.
* Schedules appointments, tests, etc. dispatches messages to other departments. Welcomes patient to unit for room set up, show video's, if applicable, orient to phones, television, dietary ordering, etc. Assists staff as necessary with securing of patient's personal belonging(s) and valuables for safekeeping with a family member, in the appropriate unit area, or with the Security Department, assuring proper documentation is completed. Makes follow up appointments for patients. Assists with gathering patient information. Monitors and promptly responds to call lights (per unit standard).
* Communicates patient information, concerns, or issues to appropriate interdisciplinary team member(s). Assists and follow up with non nursing requests such as dietary or environmental services, coordination of supplies, equipment repairs, requests for special beds, service requests for all computers, printers, scanners, discarding unwanted printing, troubleshooting printers, fax machines etc. Assists with all admissions, discharges, transfers and changes within the unit.
* Maintains a neat and organized work environment; orders, stocks and replenishes supplies and equipment as necessary; identifies and reports problems with supplies or equipment; enters equipment repair requests in system, tags equipment and removes from service.
* Verifies, orders and stocks supplies as needed. Maintains order in the unit on a regular basis. Cleans and returns charts and clipboards to appropriate places. Cleans equipment and returns to appropriate locations. Assists in maintaining overall appearance of the unit. Initiates work orders for repairs and maintenance including appropriate follow up. Labels and reports defective equipment and safety hazards. Cleans keyboard(s) according to protocol.
