The Level III Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) in Coon Rapids is a 16-bed, 12-room unit and is part of the Mother Baby Center at Mercy with Children's Minnesota. The NICU team cares for babies who are 28 weeks and older and require a higher level of care than the newborn nursery provides, as well as full-term babies who may be sick, have an anomaly, needing respiratory support. We care for these babies and their families and provide education to help them learn how to care for their baby at home.
