Unite Here company history timeline

2004

On September 29, 2004, with the hotel companies refusing to agree to a 2-year contract, and continuing to demand huge concessions, Local 2 launches a 2-week strike at 4 hotels.

Its parent union took the name UNITE HERE in 2004.

2005

On June 11, 2005, after a 14-month campaign, UNITE HERE Local 11 won a contract for the union hotels in Los Angeles.

2008

2008 – Over 300 workers at 2 non-union hotels; The Hyatt Fisherman’s Wharf and the Le Meridien hotel are leading the struggle for non-union hotel workers in San Francisco.

2022

Queen Kapiolani Hotel workers voted overwhelmingly to authorize strike, with 97% ‘YES’ votesApril 1, 2022
