The Center for Students with Disabilities began in 1967 known as the Program for the Physically Handicapped under Public Health Services.
The Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) became law in 1990.
In 1992 that the office was renamed the Center for Students with Disabilities.
He has served in various positions on the agency’s board of directors since 2003, most recently as vice chairperson.

Disability Voices United’s founders Connie and Harvey Lapin, Allen Erenbaum, and Judy Mark were honored alongside our other “Dream Team” members Senator Bill Emmerson, Mike Clark, Marny Clark, April Lopez, and David Oster by Disability Rights California in the State Capitol in December 2018.
Disability Voices United received a Certificate of Recognition on March 25, 2019 from Assemblymember Jim Frazier in honor of our advocacy work and in recognition of Developmental Disabilities Awareness Month.
