The Building Electrical Group is responsible for all building electrical systems including lighting, fire protection and low voltage for our design build, industrial projects. We design and build food and beverage production facilities. Our building electrical team is involved with designing the electrical systems, calculating power loads, determining, and selecting equipment sizes, and vetting and selecting suitable vendors, suppliers, and sub-contractors. The professional will have technical responsibility for scoping, performing, and delivering multiple concurrent project assignments. His/her specific responsibilities will include, but not limited to: Responsibilities * Designing electrical systems for building power, i.e. normal, emergency, and standby power distribution systems for 208v, 480v, and medium voltage for industrial facilities. * Execute duties on larger projects independently * Client contact and lead engineer * Documenting all necessary calculations for the design such as short circuit, selective coordination, arc flash, generator sizing, steady state and transient voltage drops, load calculations, conductor sizing, raceway fills, etc. * Maintains project document organization * Manage time and meet commitments * Understands Ohms Law, AC/DC, Electric and magnetic fields * Understands power system theory - 3-phase vector math, power factor, symmetrical components * Understands capacitors, inductors, and resonance * Designing lighting for food processing spaces, including lighting calculations for emergency and inspection lighting level needs. Coordinating fixture placement/mounting with other trades. * Designing fire alarm systems per NFPA 72, 101, and local building code. * Code expertise - NEC, NFPA 72/101/, IBC * Specify means and methods * Specify other common work - grounding, start-up, LV & MV Cables * Specify equipment * Designing low voltage systems such as LAN, phones, PA, Wi-Fi, access control, cameras, etc. * Create power plans * Create power one line and panel schedules * Define fire alarm requirements per IBC and NFPA 101 * Define Low Voltage Systems * Review scope with client - create and manage needs list * Producing bid documents consisting of layout drawings, one-line, riser, schedules, details, and specifications. * CAD - add 2D & 3D devices to Xrefs * Procuring long lead light fixtures and power distribution equipment such as switchgear, switchboards, panelboards, transformers, MCC's, generators, variable speed drives, and UPS's. * Transformer configurations * Perform short circuit calculations identifying deficiencies or series ratings * Estimate weights of main tray/trapezes and equipment needing support * Assist in managing electrical bid process for clients, observing construction, and assisting with startup. * Project planning and feasibility studies. * Actively participating in and supporting department-wide standard development, updates, and maintenance. * Researching electrical building/power materials and best practices * Supporting talent growth within our organization * Assists with interviewing and hiring new team members * Handle complex issues and tasks with minimal supervision and advise subordinate team members on solutions to issues they encounter. * Provide coaching and/or mentoring to a subordinate group when directed by supervisor Required Education Skills and Experience * Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering or related 4-year degree * 8+ years of work experience in electrical systems for building power. * 8+ years of work experience in designing lighting, fire alarm systems, and low voltage systems for building spaces, including lighting calculations, and coordinating fixture placement with trades. * 8+ years of work experience in electrical bid documents and procuring electrical materials and equipment. * 8+ years of work experience in AutoCAD, Revit or other related design programs. * Relevant experience in a manufacturing or construction setting preferred. * FE or PE tracked desirable. * Travel to customer project sites for fieldwork, review, audit, and meetings, estimated 25%. This position is responsible for revising existing drawings and preparing new drawings of basic components from explicit verbal or written instructions or detailed sketches. This position successfully plots drawings; learns and follows company and client drafting standards and procedures; learns the practices of a selected discipline. McBride Consulting has an exciting opportunity for a Principal Systems Engineer providing support to the Command, Control, Communications, and Battle Management Division (C3BM). Command, Control, Communications, and Battle Management (C3BM) has been tasked with delivering an integrated Department of the Air Force (DAF) Battle Network providing resilient decision advantage and enabling the USAF, USSF, Joint, and Coalition Force to win against the pacing challenge. C3BM supports execution in many different focus areas. C3BM's main efforts are Architecture and Systems Engineering (ASE), Operational Response Team (ORT), and multiple mission integration teams such as Air, Maritime and multiple acquisitions consisting of both the Advanced Battle Management System (ABMS) and Space. The candidate will provide Systems Engineering assistance that applies a broad theoretical and practical knowledge of system engineering to the acquisition process. The candidate will also provide engineering support in the design, operation, and sustainment of systems and components that cover tasks throughout the acquisition life cycle (requirements analysis through system disposal). This is a full-time position that is located at Los Angeles AFB, El Segundo, CA Responsibilities: Duties include, but not limited to: Candidate selected will be aligned to 1 of 5 Mission Integration Teams (MITs). The five mission areas are Air, Maritime, Land, homeland Air Defense, and Cross Cutting. Members of the MITs manage the DAF C3BM MIT Process for their respective MIT. The DAF C3BM MIT Process receives operational and functional requirements from the Operational Community and conducts a(an): Operational Analysis to translate operational and functional requirements into technical requirements Architecture Definition to design the capability's architecture while ensuring integration/interoperability with the broader DAF C3BM enterprise architecture. Risk assessment of the capability, and if risk needs to be mitigated, the MIT works with the Science & Technology Community to address. Execution management strategy providing the capability's requirements to the Acquisition Community. Test and Evaluation Strategy with the Acquisition Community to work with the Test and Evaluation Community for exercise and experimentation activities before delivery to the Operational Community. Serves a Mission Integration Team (MIT) system of systems architecture design and development engineers. Reviews current Department of Defense (DoD) architecture models and designs a migration path to a future state that enables seamless sensor-to-shooter connectivity. Drives interconnectivity between represented PEOs and weapon systems. Captures as is and to be states driven by MIT stressing engagement scenarios. Engages the joint and coalition community to design and evaluate an architecture that will connect any sensor to any shooter irrespective of service or coalition. Identifies, assesses, and matures innovative and affordable concepts meeting current and future AF needs through multi-domain expertise, analytics, and modeling, simulation & analysis tool development. Requirements Qualifications: Citizenship: Must be a US citizen Minimum Required Qualifications Clearance: Must have and be able to maintain an active Top Secret level clearance and be SCI eligible.
