UMC is currently seeking an RN Infection Preventionist for our Bristol Glen Senior Care Community located in Newton, NJ. Bristol Glen, a Continuing Care Retirement Community (CCRC), is thoughtfully designed to provide person directed care in a home-like environment to ensure exceptional care and quality of life for our residents. Requirements for an RN Infection Preventionist: Current and valid RN license in New Jersey Certificate of completion of the CDC Nursing Home Infection prevention training (23 modules) C.I.C. certification (or willingness to obtain within 1 year of hire) MS Office and Outlook Responsibilities for an RN Infection Preventionist: Oversight over all infection control and prevention related activities within the community. The responsibilities encompass compliance with regulatory agencies, CMS, OSHA, state regulations, outbreak investigation, and overall direction of the infection prevention and control program within the community. Assists with prevention of healthcare-acquired infections (HAIs) by isolating sources of infections and limiting their spread; systematically collects, analyzes and interprets health data in order to plan, implement, evaluate infection control practices. Responsible for screening, tracking, follow-up and recordkeeping of relevant health, safety and exposure data for all staff in compliance with all employment and regulatory standards. As a community resource, the IP also has routine interaction with outside individuals from public health disciplines who seek information, advice or provide guidance in solving problems related to the control of infection within the community. Responsible for the surveillance and reporting of nosocomial infections, investigation of infection or clusters of infections as warranted, microbiological monitoring of the healthcare environment. Provide education to associates aimed at heightening the awareness of nosocomial infections, advise on isolation techniques, and how to minimize infections among residents and minimize the spread of infections within the community. The LPN: Licensed Practical Nurse is responsible for rendering professional nursing care to resident's while exercising good judgment and respecting confidential matters . Requirements for an LPN: Licensed Practical Nurse: High School diploma or GED. Some nursing experience in a related field preferred. Current New Jersey LPN: Licensed Practical Nurse License. IV & CPR Certification preferred. IV certification must be completed within 6 months of hire. Responsibilities for an LPN: Licensed Practical Nurse: Participates in collection of data and needed assessments from the resident or other appropriate source(s). Obtains report from the nurse he/she is relieving, provides report to the nurse coming on duty. Attend and participate in all scheduled training, educational and orientation classes, programs and activities including annual mandatory classes. Chart nurses' notes in an informative and descriptive manner. Contributes to the resident's assessment (MDS/RAP's) and the development of a plan of care. Complete accident/incident reports as necessary. Admit, transfer, and discharge residents. Complete required documentation and notifications as necessary. Administers (within UMC set time periods), and documents administration of medications, enteral nutrition and treatments per the physician's order and accurately records all care provided in the EHR. Adheres to the 6 rights of medication administration. Accountable for all narcotics and medication cart keys on the shift. Collaborates with the resident, partners of healthcare and, when appropriate, the resident's responsible party in the interest of the resident's health and well-being.
