United Nations Global Compact company history timeline

2000

Global Compact, United Nations (UN) initiative launched in 2000 to bring business, labour, and civil society together around ethical principles and standards.

2004

The tenth principle and fourth key text (the United Nations Convention Against Corruption) were added in June 2004.

The first Global Compact Leaders Summit, chaired by the then Secretary-General Kofi Annan, was held in UN Headquarters in New York on 24 June 2004, to bring "intensified international focus and increased momentum" to the UN Global Compact.

2007

The second Global Compact Leaders Summit, chaired by Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon, was held on 5–6 July 2007 at the Palais des Nations in Geneva, Switzerland.

2009

In 2009 Rotary International partnered with the UN Global Compact.

2010

Marking the 10th anniversary of the Global Compact's launch, the Global Compact Leaders Summit 2010 took place on 24–25 June 2010 in New York.
