It’s still a great job as long as you know you’re rights and are able to maneuver the human ram rods of in-building management. Most of them have done the labor job before going into non union low level in building managment.
Apparently it wasn’t always this way but UPS trains their management staff to manipulate and harass their labor staff into unsafe work practices and unrealistic time tables. As expected they value their numbers over their workers ability to safely provide for their families.
Being able to serve my community and create networks and relationships within the workplace that eventually overflow outside the walls of work. Your fellow teamster is your family, take care of each other
UPS remains one of those unusual places where a person can have just about any sort of past life. If you show any initiative and have a decent attitude, you will be approached for greater responsibilities. The company is loaded at all levels with people who thought "just for Christmas" or "while I'm in school" at all levels.
The hours can be rough. You must be disciplined about sleep.
