Successful candidates will have ideally worked in the steel industry (but not required) and have a solid level of experience with the types of specialized products and services produced by steel service centers. We are looking for a detail-oriented candidate that is eager to learn and grow in this fast-paced environment. We strive to build strong relationships with our customers by providing high level of service, value-add opportunities, and professionalism in all interactions, allowing us to become a valued member of their supply chain and production teams. Primary Duties & Responsibilities: Ability to efficiently locate/stage raw/WIP material at work centers for upcoming production orders. As well as the ability to efficiently remove completed loads and reload new skids/pallets (where applicable) to work centers to minimize machine downtime. Understand the Move Ticket, Material I.D. and Routing systems to ensure proper part identification and delivery of parts within and between departments. Perform forklift inspection daily per applicable safety procedures. Know the safety rules that apply to material handling and stacking. Know customer shipping requirements and applicable procedures. General housekeeping pertaining to material handling; i.e., emptying scrap hoppers to appropriate scrap dumpsters outside. As well as ensuring that there is no scrap buildup outside near scrap containers. Removal, proper storage of extra skids. Comply with all health and safety procedures. Required to train other employees. Other duties as assigned by Supervisor or Department Assistant. Position Requirements: Verbal and written communication in English. Read blueprints, both English and metric. Certified forklift driver for standup & sit-down forklifts. Crane certified preferred. Knowledge of company policies, shop and safety rules. Understanding of ISO 9001:2015. Basic understanding of inspection equipment as it pertains to material identification. Basic math skills. As required, ability to perform repetitive bending, kneeling, and lift cumbersome and or heavy objects (up to 50 lbs).     Primary Duties & Responsibilities * Provide leadership and vision to the hourly team to help drive results and meet production, quality, and safety goals. * Develop relationships with the various stakeholders to maximize knowledge attainment/business alignment * Learn Metalex policy, process, and procedures for assigned function & execute on goals for assigned function * Manage and coordinate the efforts of hourly team members by actively engaging with staff on the production floor. * Ensure product specifications are met with a high standard of quality by interpreting data and auditing production results within various departments. * Lead and direct team members to successful outcomes by following procedures, relaying expectations, and holding team members accountable per the Union contract and disciplinary policy. * Ensure a safety-oriented environment at the facility for all team members, vendors and customers through safety initiatives, training, leadership development, observations on the floor, and enforcement of policies. * Direct, train and coach team members through actively engaging staff on the production floor on aspects of lean manufacturing, team effectiveness a continuous improvement. * Maintain department shop floor metrics, visual controls, and continuous improvement methods on the manufacturing floor. * Direct and execute daily production requirements. * Meet or exceed productivity goals. * Ensure quality standards are met and maintained by understanding, implementing, and enforcing compliance with customer, regulatory and Metalex policies and processes. * Be able to track, analyze and execute quality and facility improvement initiatives as determined from performance data. * Identify project opportunities to improve the business and support effective application of best * Demonstrate ability to execute projects in fast-paced environment and ensure that all production and reporting is completed timely and accurately. * Work with production schedulers to ensure good product flow and 100% on-time delivery. * Write maintenance work orders. * Be knowledgeable of all jobs, operations, and machines within the department. * Assist in the development of Standard Operating Procedures (SOP's) Qualifications * HS Diploma or equivalent required; bachelor's degree in Engineering or related field a plus. * Highly motivated, flexible, dependable self-starter.
