ABOUT THE JOB The Tepa Companies are seeking a Welding Apprentice who will Perform welding tasks under supervision on piping and plate within petroleum operations facilities. In addition to welding, the successful candidate must be able to assist in tasks related to welding such as fit‐up, preparation, repair, inspection, and post weld preparation. As required, the Apprentice Welder will also be tasked to assist with general site work such as loading and unloading equipment and materials, site clean‐up and preparation, mobilization, and demobilization to and from the jobsite, scaffolding erection, general tank construction tasks and other duties as assigned. This role is intended for May 2026 college graduates who majored in an applicable field. The Fitter/Welder works with little or no instruction to perform a variety of welding processes and methods to weld all types of metals and alloys of various shapes, sizes, and thicknesses as needed for projects. Duties and Responsibilities: * Use a variety of welding processes and methods to weld all types of metals to perform complete part fabrication in compliance with company quality standards. * Complete fit-up of structure, pipe, accessories and tanks. * Welds in flat, horizontal, and vertical positions. * Identify various metals and alloys such as mild & high strength steel, aluminum, and stainless as well as identify structural shapes. * Use measuring devices and gauges to determine thickness and size of metal. * Use oxygen/acetylene torch for cutting metals. * Use grinder and other hand or power tools required to grind, bevel, or fit metals together, and remove slag. * Read and follow blue prints to determine structure or fit of parts that are being welded and are in compliance with the Method of Production Standard. * Maintain work area and equipment in a clean orderly condition and follow prescribed safety procedures. Skills and Specifications: * Proficient knowledge of welding procedures, practices, symbols, and techniques required to weld and/or fuse metals together. * Skilled ability to use hand and power tools associated with welding, such as chipping hammer, grinder, arc welder, and oxygen/acetylene torch including setup or connection of hoses, cords, and regulators. * Accomplished ability to read and comprehend blue prints and/or sketches. * Knowledge and ability to use common measuring instruments and hand tools such as tape measure, level, square, file or rasp. * Demonstrated leadership skills. * Solid problem-solving skills. * Ability to contribute and work in a team environment. * Ability to demonstrate accuracy and thoroughness to ensure first quality of work. * Ability to establish and maintain healthy working relationships with people in course of work. * Willingness to work additional hours in order to meet tight deadlines. Education and Qualifications: * High School diploma or equivalent (GED). * Certification from a trade or welding institute is preferred. * Must demonstrate welding proficiencies through Visual & Fillet break or Radiography testing and be able to successfully perform Flux Core, Sub Arc, Tungsten Inert Gas or Gas Metal Arc welds in 1 through 6 Groove positions as well as welds in the 1 through 2 Fillet positions.
