DESCRIPTION OF WORK
In this position, you will provide technical support and guidance to help desk staff and end users experiencing issues with Body-Worn Cameras (BWC), Mobile Video Recorders (MVR), Interview Room Recorders (IRR), Mobile Data Terminals (MDT), and network-related services. You will receive and respond to calls from field personnel, assess and diagnose reported issues, and either recommend appropriate solutions or coordinate with service providers to ensure timely resolution or repair. Responsibilities include responding to inquiries from Troop Communications Specialists (TCS), IT technicians, and other section staff, serving as a liaison between TCS and the division to coordinate equipment requests and support for unique operational needs. In addition, you will assist with coordinating all aspects of BWC, MVR, MDT, IRR, router, and vehicle-related technology, including scheduling, materials, preparation, and logistics. You will further support training efforts by delivering instruction on these systems, preparing and maintaining training and equipment documentation, and ensuring materials remain current with system updates and changes.

Work Schedule and Additional Information:
Full-time employment, 37.5 hours per week
Work hours are 8:00 AM to 4:00 PM, Monday - Friday, with a 30-minute lunch.
This position may require availability outside of scheduled working hours for deployment of PSP mobile command posts, fixed command posts, and joint operations centers. This may necessitate shift changes and extended working hours as needed to ensure operational needs and priorities are met.

Collects money from several hundred single-space parking meters and multi- space parking kiosks, processes, records and deposits monies with the City Collections Office.
Maintain and monitors daily meter repair log and complaint records.
Performs preventative maintenance to parking meters and multi space kiosks as scheduled by the Parking Supervisor.
Inspects meters and parking kiosks for malfunctions or vandalism. Clears coin jams and removes foreign objects in coin assemblies. Dissassembles meters and kiosks as needed to conduct tests, adjust, or otherwise clean / repair / replace faulty or damaged components. Reassembles units once maintenance is complete.
Dissassembles old meters and kiosk units removed from service; harvest and store salvageable components. Reconditions meters and kiosks as directed. Transports and disposes of obsolete equipment at appropriate disposal facilities as directed by the Parking Supervisor.
Cleans meters and kiosk pay station housings; remove stickers and graffiti as required. Sands, cleans, primes, and paints meter and kiosk housings.
Replace decals and signage for meters and kiosk pay stations as required.
Updates maintenance logs for meters and kiosk pay stations as developed by the Parking Supervisor. Keep the Parking Supervisor informed of availability and condition of all tools, parts, or supplies required for meter and kiosk maintenance / repair / replacement.

The Building Design and Construction Division is an award-winning organization responsible for implementing all major building, renovation and major capital renewal projects identified in the Fairfax County Capital Improvement Program, including fire stations, libraries, courts, police stations, office buildings, maintenance facilities, parking structures, human services facilities and other major infrastructure and public-private partnership projects.
This position works in the Building Design Branch of the Building Design and Construction Division, Capital Facilities in Fairfax County Government Center at 12000 Government Center Parkway, Fairfax, Virginia.
The Engineering Tech Supports project management tasks including tracking budgets submissions, processing invoices, project website updates, general support and maintenance of historical databases, project awards program, project records management, assistance with presentation development, management of the Branch's Basic Ordering Agreements, support for permit expediting including management of the permit bond release process.
Duties include but are not limited to:
Assistance to the Assistant Division Directors (Management M-2), Senior Section Managers and Section Managers (Engineer V), and Project Managers (Engineer IV) on small projects or portions of larger projects. Duties include assistance in developing scope of services for architectural/engineering firms or vendors, requesting fee proposals, review of fees or quotes, developing documentation for final approval, reviewing for accuracy with project manager assistance, and coordinating on-site installation through final completion and acceptance. Assists in the overall management of project budgets by gathering cost and expenditure data and monitoring the budgets through spreadsheets. Maintains completed project logs and assists with the monthly status reports in Capital Project Management System (CPMiS). Receives process revisions and templates from professional staff to update the Building Design and Construction Division's Project Management Guide standards. Provides permit coordination and facilitation support for project managers. Permit work includes delivering, logging in, transmitting pay vouchers, responding to procedural questions, and follow-up tracking for all variety of project permits including site, building, VDOT, and demolition permits. Manages the Land Development Services Construction Agreements ensuring that the final construction is performed, and projects are released from bond, including processing extension as required by analyzing the site work performed to the pro-rate the cost.
Serves as point of contact and takes a lead role for a variety of support functions that are crucial to efficient ongoing operations of the Building Design Branch. Duties include safety coordinator responsible for inventory of safety equipment and ongoing safety training opportunities, maintains staff training and continuing education records, processes the renewal of professional licenses and P-card purchases. Assists in event planning for the Division team building and recognition events.

The SCADA/Communications department of Metro Transit is responsible for maintaining all voice, audio and digital interfaces and recording devices. The successful candidate for this position must be able to work independently and be a self-starter. Eighty-eight percent (88%) of the work is performed in a field service type setting in all types of weather (i.e., on station platforms or in a Signal/Communications houses). Hourly Pay Range:
For candidates newly hired into the Amalgamated Transit Union (ATU) contract, starting wage is set by the ATU contract. Internal hires will follow Metropolitan Council's union wage guidelines.

Overview
SUMMARY
This is the senior level in the Engineering Technician series for TDOT. This position is primarily responsible for driving the transportation operation functions within the department. This includes contract development and implementation, interpretation and implementation of federal and state statutes, interpretation and implementation of department policy and procedures, surveying, materials sampling and testing, construction inspection, contract documentation of daily activities, interaction with internal and external customers, as well as the processing of permits requiring the ability to interpret and apply technical skill sets. In addition, the TDOT Engineering Technician IV follows the direction of the Supervisor to perform senior-level functions with complete responsibility for the most complex equipment operations and coordination of transportation technician activities. Employees in this class may be assigned to a headquarters specific office or a specific geographic area within a region or work in a region-wide assignment.

Documents project work activities per TDOT policies, specifications, and guidelines for progress reporting and use with contractor payments
Performs testing, including pertinent calculations, to meet the appropriate ASTM, AASHTO, and departmental specifications in the areas of soil, asphalt, concrete, density, field measurements, and manufactured products
Safely and effectively operates light duty vehicles, equipment used to remove snow and ice from highways and bridges, and heavy equipment necessary to conduct soil boring operations
Implements work zone traffic control per the MUTCD and TDOT's policies, specifications, and guidelines
Operates survey equipment to set line, grade, and project reference.

This role primarily involves carrying out specialized horticultural duties at municipal facilities throughout the county, both independently and as part of a team.
