As the SDC for Regional and Midsize Financial Institutions, you will:
* Oversee and provide executive direction for RMFI supervision activities and operations, directing through Deputy Comptrollers (DCs) the development and implementation of programs and policies for national bank and federal savings bank supervision, including conducting supervisory examinations, and communicating examination findings, regulatory ratings, and matters requiring attention, based on the guidance and direction of the Comptroller and the applicable statutes and regulations.
* Liaise with bank leadership, trade associations, and other external parties as appropriate to understand bank concerns and the industry. Exhibit a high degree of discernment for items that are ripe for discussion and those that are close hold to the agency.
* Advise and make final recommendations on strategies and OCC actions related to the banks in the RMFI portfolio, including issuance and termination of enforcement actions. Leads in the development of RMFI objectives and long-term policies, as well as a staff of approximately 500 people. Oversee bank supervision surveys, and investigations conducted by RMFI staff, and coordinate with other senior leadership for additional staffing needs and research or expertise. Understand all research, surveys, and investigations related to the RMFI portfolio, and make recommendations to the Comptroller based on findings.
* Serve as a member of the Committee on Bank Supervision, collaborating with the Chief National Bank Examiner (CNBE) on current and proposed supervision policies, programs, and practices. Establish objectives and goals in support of the Comptroller's priorities, developing short- and long-term plans and priorities, and ensuring organizational activities align with OCC objectives as defined by the Comptroller.
* Plan and assign work for direct reports and subordinate supervisors. Resolve work problems and conflict elevated by subordinates. Create a culture to lead, motivate, coach, and develop RMFI staff through the management and direction of Deputy Comptrollers and Directors. Evaluate performance, make and review personnel decisions, ensure individual accountability, and provide training and development opportunities. Keep the Comptroller and front office informed in timely fashion of (1) personnel and performance matters, (2) risks to the agency or its execution of statutory mission, and (3) the use of delegations of authority from the Comptroller.

Qualifications

You must have one year of specialized experience at a level of difficulty and responsibility equivalent to the NB-VIII band level. Examples of specialized experience for this position include:
* Leading large, complex financial functions or institutions, risk management programs, or regulatory compliance operations.
* Utilizing CAMELS, ratings process, examination scopes, etc. to assess a financial institutions overall financial health.
* Researching, interpreting, and applying financial institution regulations to provide direction on supervision activities and operations.
* Identifying and analyzing risks related to financial institutions, banking, or the financial sector, including through managing enterprise-wide risk programs or audit/examination functions.
* Understanding and presenting findings and supervisory assessments to executive management.
The experience may have been gained in the public sector, private sector, or through volunteer service. One year of experience refers to full-time work; part-time work is considered on a prorated basis.

JOB SUMMARY
The Certified Medical Assistant assists in the examination and treatment of patients under the direction of a physician and/or nursing staff. Interviews patients, measures vital signs (i.e., pulse rate, temperature, blood pressure, weight, and height), and records or inputs information to patients' medical records. Prepares treatment rooms for the examination of patients. May draw and collect blood samples from patients and prepare specimens for laboratory analysis. May perform administrative duties such as ordering supplies, answering the phone, and scheduling appointments.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
Obtains appropriate patient medical history necessary to perform diagnostic procedures as ordered; radiology, laboratory, audiometry (if applicable) and spirometry.
Performs proper patient/specimen identification. Obtains and labels specimens appropriately and completely according to policy.
Performs patient intake of information, documents patient care and data collection appropriately in patient record.
Assist physician/provider with patient exams, including but not limited to patient positioning, collection of specimens, performance of non-invasive procedures, and general patient support.
Performs invasive procedures under the direct supervision of the clinic physician/provider.
Obtains blood specimens in a timely manner by venous puncture on patients of all ages without undue stress or injury to the patient while adhering to universal precautions procedures.
Retrieves test results and clinical documents.
Populates lab results into appropriate flow sheets accurately and in a timely fashion.
Maintains quality and safety compliance of the lab equipment.
Verifies accurate handling of all lab samples couriered from the clinic.

* Oversee development and provide expert interpretation of policies, practices and procedures governing OCC's labor management and employee relations programs and performance culture programs.
* Advise management on general HR matters and on all agency negotiations with the collective bargaining agreement including compensation and benefits negotiations, which require expert negotiations advice. Serve as representative or key advisor to OCC management regarding contract and mid-term negotiations with the labor organization representing OCC employees.
* Determine Workforce Relations and Performance Management-related communication and education needs of managers, employees and Human Resources staff; develop programs for addressing those needs; and with Continuing Education oversee the implementation of any requisite training.
* Monitor the effectiveness of OCC's labor management and employee relations programs and performance culture programs to ensure that they are meeting agency objectives and are in compliance with policies.
* Lead, motivate and develop a staff of employees. Monitor the progress of assignments and evaluates training/developmental needs.

The Senior Level Counsel (SLC) serves as a national expert and confidential advisor, to the Associate Chief Counsel, Procedure and Administration (P&A); and represents the Associate Chief Counsel (P&A) on a variety of legal, technical, and tax matters. The SLC serves as an advisor, program manager and technical expert to the Associate on a broad array of activities designed to fulfill the Associate's role in providing support to the Office of Chief Counsel (Office) regarding rulemaking and the interaction of the Internal Revenue Code with other provisions of law affecting agency rulemaking under the Administrative Procedure Act; to provide comprehensive legal and programmatic advice to field of functions in both advisory and litigation settings; and to provide legal support to the Internal Revenue Service. The SLC provides trusted advice and guidance to the Chief Counsel, the Commissioner and to executives and professionals within both the IRS and Treasury and performs special assignments of the highest complexity and impact.
Major duties of the Senior Level Counsel include, but are not limited to the following:
* Acts as legal and technical expert to the Office executives on the most difficult, important, and complex professional legal matters arising in the administration of the Internal Revenue laws and in related litigation.
* Serves as the legal expert/point of contact and coordinator on published guidance and primary liaison to other Division and Associate Chief Counsel offices in the coordination and direction of activities to support IRS needs and objectives.
* Handles highly complex issues arising in relation to the defense of litigation involving novel challenges to rulemaking issues by IRS and Treasury issues related to EO 12866, and the interaction of the Internal Revenue Code with other provisions of law affecting agency rulemaking under the Administrative Procedure Act, such as the Congressional Review Act, the Paperwork Reduction Act, and the Regulatory Flexibility Act.
* Reviews and advises on the impact of pending litigation, proposed legislation or public guidance and legal issues facing the IRS on tax areas covered by P&A and its foreseeable effect on the Office of Chief Counsel, Counsel's method of operation, and on existing legislation.
* Manages highly complex and significant special projects, including rulemaking. Selects and reviews project proposals, monitors work group needs and progress, and facilitates and expedites recommendations regarding these matters through the decision-making process.
* Coordinates the participation of the Office of Chief Counsel in the development of high-level reports and studies for use by Treasury and/or Congress.
* Personally, represents the Office of Chief Counsel and the Associate Chief Counsel (P&A) at top level IRS, DOJ and Treasury meetings and conferences, and in meetings with executives from other agencies where legal policy is developed and determined.
* Performs exhaustive and detailed research on complicated legal problems and prepares recommendations as to the position to be taken by the Office. Signs such recommendations for the Associate Chief Counsel without review as appropriate, referring cases to the Associate Chief Counsel for review as specifically directed.
* As the Associate Chief Counsel (PA)'s technical expert, makes presentations on technical and procedural matters to Chief Counsel staff, IRS staff, and outside bar activities to enhance their knowledge and understanding of the Associate's role in providing legal support, and to improve coordination within Counsel and with the IRS. Works with appropriate Counsel personnel to plan and deliver such training.

Qualifications
To qualify for this position of Senior Level Counsel (P&A) you must meet the following requirements:
* Possess at least the first professional law degree (LL.B. or J.D.) from a law school accredited by the American Bar Association; AND
* Applicants must be an active member in good standing of the bar of a State, U.S. Commonwealth, U.S. territory, the District of Columbia, or the Commonwealth of Puerto Rico.
* Desired Education/Experience: An LL.M. in Taxation is desired but not required. 7 years of professional legal tax experience is desired.
To meet the minimum requirements for a Senior Level position, candidates must be a recognized subject matter expert with directly related experience. Typically, experience of this nature will have been gained at the GS-15 or equivalent level in the federal service or its equivalent in the private sector. Candidates must demonstrate their experience meets the Mandatory Technical Qualifications for this position in their two-page resume and this experience must have been at a sufficiently high level of difficulty to clearly show the candidate possesses the required subject matter expertise and technical qualifications set forth below.
Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.
To be considered, the resume must not exceed two pages. Written narratives for the Mandatory Technical Qualifications are not required. Candidates must demonstrate their experience meets the Mandatory Technical Qualifications for this position in their two-page resume.

* Demonstrated skill to prepare/write legal documents on sensitive legal matters ranging from highly complex tax documents designed for legal practitioners to non-technical/ educational materials intended for more general use, coupled with the ability to provide oral analysis.
Desirable:
* In-depth knowledge and understanding of the Chief Counsel mission and organization, and the interrelationship of its programs/policies with Chief Counsel Associate Office's, the Internal Revenue Service, and the General Counsel - Department of the Treasury Offices.
* An ability to review and assess the organizational effectiveness of assigned P&A program services and policies and to design and work with executives in implementing procedures to improve/optimize the organizational performance.

The Office of the Associate Chief Counsel (International) is responsible for coordinating and directing all activities of the International organizational component of the Office of Chief Counsel, Internal Revenue Service. The organization provides legal advisory services on all international and foreign tax matters that pertain to the application of U.S. tax laws, including all matters relating to the activities of non-U.S. persons or entities within the United States and the activities of U.S. or U.S.-related persons or entities outside the United States. These legal advisory services support uniform interpretation, application, enforcement, and litigation of the tax laws related to all international provisions of the United States revenue laws, and all bilateral and multilateral tax treaties and agreements to which the United States is a party.
The Deputy Associate Chief Counsel (Technical), serves alongside the Associate Chief Counsel (International), and the other Deputies Associate Chief Counsel in the overall executive direction and coordination of the organization's activities related to interpretation and application of international tax laws and other international legal authorities. The Deputy Associate Chief Counsel (Technical), among other things, oversees the issuance of guidance to implement such laws. The Deputy Associate Chief Counsel (ACC) (Technical), is delegated the authority to serve as a full assistant, including authority for signature on all matters on which the Associate Chief Counsel (International) has authority; and collaborates closely with the Associate and with the other Deputies Associate Chief Counsel, and when acting for the Associate, has full authority to make decisions on any problems and issues arising in the Office of the Associate Chief Counsel (International).
Major duties and responsibilities include yet are not limited to:
* Assists and participates with the Associate and the other Deputies Associate Chief Counsel in planning, directing, and coordinating the policies, programs, and goals of the Office pertaining to the laws and other international legal authorities administered by the Internal Revenue Service (IRS).
* Formulates and directs Chief Counsel programs and policies with respect to the preparation and publication of proposed regulations and Treasury decisions, the assessment of public comments and conducting public hearings on proposed regulations, and the management of the movement of regulations through the review process within Chief Counsel and the IRS.
* Formulates and directs Chief Counsel programs and policies with respect to the preparation and publication of revenue rulings, revenue procedures, announcements, and news releases to be issued for the guidance of taxpayers and IRS personnel; formulating and directing programs and policies with respect to the preparation and publication of private letter rulings and general technical information letters in response to requests from taxpayers; coordinating, and providing executive direction to staff engaged in the drafting and issuance of these products; and ensures accurate, consistent, and uniform legal analysis in all the Office's legal products, including Chief Counsel advice to field personnel.
* Works with Treasury officials to coordinate recommendations for legislation that particularly affects cross-border activities; directing IRS participation in this aspect of the legislative process, including the furnishing of advice and guidance with respect to the development of new or revised legislative proposals and overseeing IRS participation with legislative staffs in the drafting of such legislation and committee reports.
* Develops and monitors performance measures and program goals for all international legal services and published guidance and for implementation, compliance, and outreach initiatives on international issues.
* Supports the Associate Chief Counsel in personnel decision-making and management, including hiring, and directly supervises Special Counsels, Branch Chiefs, and Senior Technical Reviewers.

Qualifications
To qualify for this position of Deputy Associate Chief Counsel (INTL) you must meet the following requirements:
* Possess at least the first professional law degree (LL.B. or J.D.) from a law school accredited by the American Bar Association; AND
* Applicants must be an active member in good standing of the bar of a State, U.S. Commonwealth, U.S. territory, the District of Columbia, or the Commonwealth of Puerto Rico;
* Desired Education/Experience: An LL.M. in Taxation is desired but not required. 7 years of professional legal tax experience is desired.
As a basic requirement for entry into the SES, applicants must provide evidence of progressively responsible executive leadership and supervisory experience that is indicative of senior executive level managerial capability. The ideal candidate will have experience supervising many employees through subordinate supervisors and have experience hiring, developing, and evaluating employees. Typically, experience of this nature is at the GS-15 or equivalent level in the federal service or its equivalent in the private sector.
To meet the minimum qualifications, you must submit a two-page resume that shows you possess the five Executive Core Qualifications (ECQs) and Technical Qualifications (TQs). To be considered, the resume must not exceed two pages. If selected for this position you will be required to address each ECQ during a structured interview with the Office of Personnel Management (OPM) Qualifications Review Board (QRB). Written narratives for the ECQs are not required.
Current and former career SES employees, and OPM Candidate Development Program (CDP) graduates are exempt to address the ECQs.
By statute, OPM prescribes Executive Core Qualifications (ECQs) for the appointment of career SES members. The ECQs were designed to evaluate executive experience and not technical expertise. The following ECQs provide the focus for certification of executive core qualifications for initial appointment to the Senior Executive Service. Your two-page resume should show that you possess the Executive Core Qualifications listed below:
* Commitment to the Rule of Law and the Principles of the American Founding: This core qualification requires a demonstrated knowledge of the American system of government, commitment to uphold the Constitution and the rule of law, and commitment to serve the American people.
* Driving Efficiency: This core qualification involves the demonstrated ability to strategically and efficiently manage resources, budget effectively, cut wasteful spending, and pursue efficiency through process and technological upgrades.
* Merit and Competence: This core qualification involves the demonstrated knowledge, ability and technical competence to effectively and reliably produce work that is of exceptional quality.
* Leading People: This core qualification involves the demonstrated ability to lead and inspire a group toward meeting the organization's vision, mission, and goals, and to drive a high-performance, high- accountability culture. This includes, when necessary, the ability to lead people through change and to hold individuals accountable.
* Achieving Results: This core qualification involves the demonstrated ability to achieve both individual and organizational results, and to align results to stated goals from superiors.

Applicants are strongly encouraged to follow the Challenge, Context, Action and Results model outlined in the guide, to prepare for the structured interview. In addition to the ECQs, candidates must address Mandatory Technical Qualifications (MTQs). MTQs are designed to assess an applicant's experience relevant to the specific position requirements. TECHNICAL QUALIFICATIONS (MTQs):
* Comprehensive, professional knowledge of and experience in applying the tax laws related to all transactions and activities that cross the borders of the United States, including all international provisions of the United States revenue laws and all bilateral and multilateral tax treaties and agreements to which the United States is a party.
* Demonstrated ability to develop nationwide strategies and provide dedicated support and legal advice to high profile significant IRS top ranking officials and provide effective quality legal services to both internal and external customers.
Desirable:
* A thorough understanding of the operations and organization of the Internal Revenue Service and Office of Chief Counsel.
Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. One year of experience refers to full-time work; part-time work is considered on a prorated basis. Qualifications:
You qualify for the GS-9 grade level in one of the following ways: experience, education, or a combination of both.
Experience: A minimum of one (1) year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the next lower grade level that includes:
Detaining suspected violators of federal, state, or local laws and/or arresting violators using the proper law enforcement methods.
Enforcing the laws and regulations relating to importing, exporting, and/or international shipping to and from the United States.
Utilizing intelligence techniques and behavior analysis to identify potential threats and perform risk assessments for violations of laws and threats to national security.
Conducting interviews in a law enforcement capacity for the purposes of gaining information from suspected violators of laws to determine the appropriate course of action.
The above experience will be applied in connection with the following: Ability to make rapid, accurate judgments and decisions with respect to the application of the regulations, instructions, and procedures for importing and exporting merchandise to and from the United States; or enforcement and administration of laws relating to the right of persons to enter, reside in or depart from the United States, Guam, Puerto Rico, and the U.S. Virgin Islands.
Education Substitution: A master's (or higher) degree, or two or more years of progressively higher-level graduate education leading to such a degree, or an LL.B. or J.D. from an accredited college or university; OR
Combination of Experience and Education: A combination of specialized experience AND successfully completed graduate-level education. This will be calculated using your resume and official or unofficial transcripts submitted with your application.

Residency: You must have had primary U.S. residency (includes protectorates as declared under international law) for at least three (3) of the last five (5) years.
Age Restriction: In accordance with Public Law 100-238, this position is covered under law enforcement retirement provisions. Candidates must be referred for selection to the Customs and Border Protection Officer position before reaching their 40th birthday in accordance with Department of Homeland Security Directive 251-03. Formal Training: You will be required to complete a paid pre-academy orientation for approximately two (2) weeks at your home port. You will then attend a 101-day training program - CBP Field Operations Academy - conducted at the Federal Law Enforcement Training Center (FLETC) located in Glynco, GA. This training consists of basic law enforcement skills, immigration laws, firearms training, examination of cargo/bags/merchandise, physical fitness, etc. Candidates assigned to the southern border, Miami, or Puerto Rico duty locations must attend and pass an online Spanish training program, which will be completed at their home port. Successful completion of the Academy is required for this position.

At least one year of this experience must be equivalent to the work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service.
Note: Only experience gained after Bar Admission may be credited as Professional Legal Experience.
Education Substitution: An LL.M. degree in the field of the position (tax, GLS-related, orP&A- FOIA/Disclosure related field) may be substituted for the one year of the general legal experience listed above.

As a SENIOR INSURANCE REGULATORY POLICY ANALYST, in connection with monitoring developments in the insurance industry consistent with the mission of FIO as set forth by statute, your duties may include:
* Serve as a project leader or team leader in analyzing the economic, financial and policy implications of developments related to insurance and reinsurance companies and markets.
* Formulate, conduct, evaluate, and carry out a wide variety of analyses of insurance-related policy issues under review by Treasury. The results of the analyses are a major input into the Treasury's policymaking on these subjects.
* Develop, produce, and prepare research, policy statements, briefing materials, Congressional testimonies, Congressional reports, periodic status reports covering ongoing issues covered by FIO, official correspondence, and other official pronouncements for the Secretary of the Treasury and other senior Treasury officials.
* Serve as an advisor to the supervisory managers and Treasury staff on issues related to insurance and reinsurance companies and insurance regulation. Advise the Director, Deputy Director, and other senior Treasury officials as requested on all matters pertaining to the insurance industry.

Qualifications
You must meet the following requirements by the closing date of this announcement.
SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: You must have one year of specialized experience at a level of difficulty and responsibility equivalent to the GS-14 grade level in the Federal service. Specialized experience requires meeting both A and B below:
A. Experience in writing, researching, analyzing data, or providing legal advice in at least ONE of the following five areas of focus:
* Financial or investment analysis relating to the insurance sector; OR
* Property & Casualty insurance for personal or commercial lines of business such as, but not limited to, cyber insurance; OR
* Life insurance and/or annuities; OR
* Insurer solvency or other regulation of the insurance sector; OR
* Terrorism risk insurance.
AND
B. Experience in at least TWO of the following three activities:
* Developing written analyses or summaries (such as memoranda, reports, briefs or articles) regarding either:
* The economic, financial, legal, or policy issues associated with the U.S. insurance sector or
* International issues related to insurance (such as work relating to international standards or agreements, or multi-national companies).OR
* Analyzing research, information, or data related to the U.S. or international insurance sector. OR
* Advising on or otherwise using laws and regulations relating to insurance, or financial services, such as State or Federal insurance or financial regulation or legislation.
The experience may have been gained in either the public, private sector or volunteer service. One year of experience refers to full-time work; part-time work is considered on a prorated basis. As the SDC for Community Bank Supervision, you will:
* Oversee and provide executive direction for CBS supervision activities and operations, directing through Deputy Comptrollers (DCs) and Directors in the development and implementation of programs and policies for national bank and federal savings bank supervision.
* Provide leadership to ensure understanding of Comptroller priorities, OCC goals, initiatives, and programs for all employees. Serve as an executive advisor to the Comptroller on operational issues, providing analysis, recommendations, and historical context on markets and banking regulation. Represent the Comptroller on issues that pertain to Community Banks in meetings with legislators, bankers, attorneys, and high-level federal and state officials.
* Lead the development of CBS objectives and long-term policies. Oversee bank supervision surveys, and investigations, examiner performance and quality, and make recommendations to the Comptroller based on findings.
* Serve as a member of the internal Committee on Bank Supervision, collaborating with the Chief National Bank Examiner on current and proposed supervision policies, programs, and practices. Establish objectives and goals in support of the Comptroller's priorities, developing short- and long-term plans and priorities, ensuring organizational activities align with OCC objectives.
* Plan and assign work for direct reports and subordinate supervisors. Resolve work problems and conflicts elevated by subordinates. Create a culture to lead, motivate, coach, and develop RMFI staff through the management and direction of Deputy Comptrollers and Directors. Evaluate performance, make and review personnel decisions, ensure individual accountability, and provide training and development opportunities. Keep the Comptroller and front office informed in timely fashion of (1) personnel and performance matters, (2) risks to the agency or its execution of statutory mission, and (3) the use of delegations of authority from the Comptroller.

Grade level eligibility and salaries vary depending upon background, including experience and education, and duty location of the opportunity. As the SDC for Regional and Midsize Financial Institutions, you will:
* Oversee and provide executive direction for RMFI supervision activities and operations, directing through Deputy Comptrollers (DCs) the development and implementation of programs and policies for national bank and federal savings bank supervision, including conducting supervisory examinations, and communicating examination findings, regulatory ratings, and matters requiring attention, based on the guidance and direction of the Comptroller and the applicable statutes and regulations.
* Liaise with bank leadership, trade associations, and other external parties as appropriate to understand bank concerns and the industry. Exhibit a high degree of discernment for items that are ripe for discussion and those that are close hold to the agency.
* Advise and make final recommendations on strategies and OCC actions related to the banks in the RMFI portfolio, including issuance and termination of enforcement actions. Leads in the development of RMFI objectives and long-term policies, as well as a staff of approximately 500 people. Oversee bank supervision surveys, and investigations conducted by RMFI staff, and coordinate with other senior leadership for additional staffing needs and research or expertise. Understand all research, surveys, and investigations related to the RMFI portfolio, and make recommendations to the Comptroller based on findings.
* Serve as a member of the Committee on Bank Supervision, collaborating with the Chief National Bank Examiner (CNBE) on current and proposed supervision policies, programs, and practices. Establish objectives and goals in support of the Comptroller's priorities, developing short- and long-term plans and priorities, and ensuring organizational activities align with OCC objectives as defined by the Comptroller.
* Plan and assign work for direct reports and subordinate supervisors. Resolve work problems and conflict elevated by subordinates. Create a culture to lead, motivate, coach, and develop RMFI staff through the management and direction of Deputy Comptrollers and Directors. Evaluate performance, make and review personnel decisions, ensure individual accountability, and provide training and development opportunities. Keep the Comptroller and front office informed in timely fashion of (1) personnel and performance matters, (2) risks to the agency or its execution of statutory mission, and (3) the use of delegations of authority from the Comptroller.

Grade level eligibility and salaries vary depending upon background, including experience and education, and duty location of the opportunity. This is a career ladder position with a grade level progression of GS-5, GS-7, GS-9, GS-11, and GS-12. You will be eligible for a promotion to the next higher grade level (without re-applying) once you successfully complete 52 weeks in each grade level. Promotions are at the discretion of the agency.
Officers are eligible to select from an array of federal employment benefits that include health, dental and other insurance plans, a generous annual and sick leave program, and participation in the Thrift Savings Plan, a retirement plan akin to a traditional and ROTH 401(k) offering.
Qualifications:
You qualify for the GS-9 grade level in one of the following ways: experience, education, or a combination of both.
Experience: A minimum of one (1) year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the next lower grade level that includes:
Detaining suspected violators of federal, state, or local laws and/or arresting violators using the proper law enforcement methods.
Enforcing the laws and regulations relating to importing, exporting, and/or international shipping to and from the United States.
Utilizing intelligence techniques and behavior analysis to identify potential threats and perform risk assessments for violations of laws and threats to national security.
Conducting interviews in a law enforcement capacity for the purposes of gaining information from suspected violators of laws to determine the appropriate course of action.
The above experience will be applied in connection with the following: Ability to make rapid, accurate judgments and decisions with respect to the application of the regulations, instructions, and procedures for importing and exporting merchandise to and from the United States; or enforcement and administration of laws relating to the right of persons to enter, reside in or depart from the United States, Guam, Puerto Rico, and the U.S. Virgin Islands.
Education Substitution: A master's (or higher) degree, or two or more years of progressively higher-level graduate education leading to such a degree, or an LL.B. or J.D. from an accredited college or university; OR
Combination of Experience and Education: A combination of specialized experience AND successfully completed graduate-level education. This will be calculated using your resume and official or unofficial transcripts submitted with your application.

Citizenship: You must be a U.S. Citizen to apply for this position.
Residency: You must have had primary U.S. residency (includes protectorates as declared under international law) for at least three (3) of the last five (5) years.
Age Restriction: In accordance with Public Law 100-238, this position is covered under law enforcement retirement provisions. Formal Training: You will be required to complete a paid pre-academy orientation for approximately two (2) weeks at your home port. You will then attend a 101-day training program - CBP Field Operations Academy - conducted at the Federal Law Enforcement Training Center (FLETC) located in Glynco, GA. This training consists of basic law enforcement skills, immigration laws, firearms training, examination of cargo/bags/merchandise, physical fitness, etc. Candidates assigned to the southern border, Miami, or Puerto Rico duty locations must attend and pass an online Spanish training program, which will be completed at their home port. Successful completion of the Academy is required for this position.
