Troubleshoot, diagnose, rebuild, replace and complete all required repairs on diesel equipment (i.e., tractors, trailers, bobtails, reefers, lift gates, etc.). Perform preventative maintenance within company standards. Complete documentation of all repair orders, PM list and parts accountability. Handle road service calls; perform road rescue/transport equipment as needed. Keep track of assigned repairs by logging in and out of the Shop Fax system. Maintain a clean and safe work environment in compliance with workplace safety rules and regulations and government guidelines. Maintain inventory and proper recordkeeping. Backup to other maintenance shop personnel. Willingness and capacity to assume increased responsibility and certifications. Performs other duties as assigned. Must have (3) years of verifiable hands-on experience as a heavy duty commercial diesel mechanic or reefer mechanic or a combination of both; or (2) years verifiable hands-on experience with either Diesel Mechanic Certification or TK/Carrier Refrigeration Certification or both. Diagnostic and troubleshooting competency relating to equipment repairs. Successfully demonstrated independent analytical and problem-solving skills. Prior experience in administering appropriate PM program. Must furnish own personal hand tools. CDL A and DOT certified preferred. Knowledge/Skills/Abilities: Ability to comply with EPA and OSHA regulations as pertaining to the shop and fleet. Ability to read and understand technical and service manuals. Excellent communication skills; able to communicate with co-workers and drivers with demonstrated teamwork skills. Ability to manage multiple functions simultaneously in a fast-paced environment with minimal supervision. Ability to adapt to changing organizational and operational needs. Computer and software experience. Ability to work a flexible schedule including nights and weekends. Must be able to work overtime when needed. Compensation depends on relevant experience and/or education, specific skills, function, geographic location, and other factors as applicable by law. The expected base rate for this role is $32.05. Knowledge, Skills & Abilities Demonstrated ability to independently commission, configure, repair, teardown, rebuild & troubleshoot all Limitorque actuators and equipment including SMB, L120, MXA, MXB, QX, & UEX models. Demonstrated proficiency in MODBUS digital communication protocol and associated software and hardware for initializing and upgrading firmware for MX, QX & UEX actuators. Demonstrated protocol analyzer use and data interpretation. Basic understanding of ModBus function & data breakdown. Demonstrated ability to conduct training on products and supporting tools within scope of knowledge. Strong Customer-service focus, with a personal ownership and initiative regarding quality, meeting deadlines, and problem-solving. Strong interpersonal and communication skills. Experience with Word, Excel, Outlook and Keyboarding skills. Demonstrated ability to Interpret schematics, wiring diagrams and blueprints. Active Driver's license. Ability to travel both domestically and internationally on short notice as business requires. This position requires the ability to rewind various AC & DC electric motors and generators ranging from fractional sizes through 1200 HP medium voltage motors. The candidate must be able to perform quality work, with attention to detail, while maintaining production standards. The dedicated individual must be able to work both independently and as part of a small group with everchanging priorities. GENERAL INFORMATION Reports to Shop Manager and Shop Floor Leader. Normal working hours are 7:00 AM to 3:30 PM. Some flexibility is required to meet customer demands. Must be willing to work overtime as required. PRINCIPAL DUTIES Rewind various types of AC/DC motors including random and form wound coils, armatures and wound rotors. Strip and record coil data for AC and DC machines (motors/generators). Cut out or remove defective coils, record data, and remove insulation from core slots. Prepare and cut insulation. Fabricate random coils. Install and align formed coils or random coils into slots of stators, rotors or armatures. Insert copper coils in the stator with appropriate methods. Make connections (brazing and soldering). Complete varnish, bake and dip processes. Assemble, test and complete required paperwork/reports. Perform surge test, hi-pot megger, DLRO tests. Troubleshoot various electric motors to determine cause of failure. Perform other duties as required and assigned.
