United Technologies is a technology company in the global building and aerospace industries that strives to fix the biggest issues society faces today. In addition to promoting better lives for society, the company focuses much of its attention on the employees who work there to make sure they're improving into better versions of themselves every day.
Whether you're a student, recent grad, professional or military, United Technologies has a place for you. Being a global leader in technology, it's important to United Technologies to ensure the employees there are the best-educated around the globe. They promote a culture where everyone has the resources to achieve higher levels of performance. At United Technologies, they believe that success stems from lifelong learning. And that's where the Employee Scholar Program comes into play. With tuition, academic fees and books paid for, employees are encouraged to learn more throughout their careers at United Technologies.
So your education is paid for now, but how do you manage that work-life balance? The universities that have partnered with United Technologies through this program provide opportunities on-site at United Technologies. And on top of that, you get three hours PTO each week to study.
For many at United Technologies, their careers grow the longer they work there. Sometimes the careers grow into unchartered territory. That's what happened for Kaye Allfrey. While her skills and experience in her field were solid, she was lacking the academic component. That's what made the program too good to pass up.
"There were a number of reasons I chose to pursue an MBA," Allfrey said. "But it was mainly the most appropriate area of study based upon my career to date and how I wanted my career to progress in the future. It was an inspiring experience and helped me to realize that regardless of personal circumstance, you really can do anything you put your mind to - particularly when given the kind of opportunity the Employee Scholar Program provides."
One of the most common themes at United Technologies is the support the company provides the employees. The culture there is supportive of new ideas and pushing boundaries. The environment at United Technologies is a safe place for everyone to be themselves. Which explains why the employees there are some of the most innovative thinkers around the globe.
Rather than being all talk, United Technologies actually walks the walk. They provide employee resources groups including, African-American, Asian, Disability, Generational, Hispanic, LGBTQ, Professional, Veterans and Women. The goal at United Technologies is to create a culture that represents the world.
That's not the only support they provide either. Sometimes, professionals take a break from their careers. After being out of the game for a few years, it may be a little scary to reenter the workforce. United Technologies wants to help. With the Re-Empower program, United Technologies is committed to bringing you back into the workforce one step at a time.
The 16-week program provides these professionals with on-the-job experience. Professionals attend leadership sessions, receive personalized success plans and coaching all while getting paid. Then once completing the program, they will be eligible for employment at United Technologies.
You do not want to miss out on these benefits. From employee fitness centers to vacation days you can purchase, United Technologies knows how to keep its employees happy. Even if you're a part-time employee, you still have access to high-quality benefits.
Each employee enjoys 15 paid vacation days. You earn more the longer you work there. And you can purchase up to five additional vacation days with pre-tax dollars. Additionally, you don't have to pay for those days all at once. The costs will be spread out over the course of the year. Employees also receive paid holidays, including a break between Christmas and New Years Day. Other PTO days include 10 sick days, up to 5 absent with permission days, jury duty, and up to 12 weeks of birth, adoption and parental leave.
The company makes sure to provide the resources necessary to prepare for retirement. The Savings Plan at United Technologies provides a range of investment options employees can choose from. In addition, the Lifetime Income Strategy feature was added as an opportunity for employees to turn their Savings Plan account balance into a source of income during retirement.
At United Technologies, they understand life isn't based on a 8-5 schedule. So that's why they offer flexible schedules. You're encouraged to work with your supervisor on figuring out if a part-time schedule, job sharing or telecommuting would be best for you.
Employees at United Technologies also have access to Beacon Health resources to help with everyday life. The resources can be used to help achieve a personal goal, manage stress or improve your work habits. This resource comes at no cost to employees and family. In addition, employees have access to on-stie fitness centers.
United Technologies is constantly finding new ways to make sure employees are benefiting from working there. That's an employer worth working for.
